I just realized! what's left are swipers and no life chads

This game has a bad catchup mechanism for new players and a stupid roster ilvl for gatekeeping.

EDIT:

Look at WoW for example. Has catchup mechanism for lvl and gear and the only gatekeeping is current tier (and you can easily build your score for that). You don’t need to play since day one to be accepted in parties.

In LA as a new player you lack runes, skill points, not being lvl 60, roster lvl and you can`t gain experience because you are rejected from parties. All new players Alt+F4 and never come back. That mokoko buff is useless because nobody helps mokokos. Is more like a target to not get invited.

“its marathon”

Eliud Kipchoge ran a marathon in in 2h or 42km~
average runner that is capable of running a marathon runs it 2x slower at 4h 21m
beginner 20-30 5km run is 32min or 4.48h if they somehow manage to run the same pace 8.4times in a row without stopping
now the average person can’t run 1 km
the average person is not even the casual
the casual runner running is running to the bus stop to catch it
the casual runner running is running to catch the crosswalk greenlight

the casual runner is not someeone who runs marathons or 5kms or runs for cardio at the gym

the casual player is someone who plays 1h a day tops and just does the bare minimum
wastes some time does a few quests and logs out
3h a day is not casual
and you can do a FUCKTON with 3h a day
for one i can fully complete my 6x dailies in 2h
i can do 4 hourly events in 3 hours
i can do 6x valtans and 6 vykases in 3hours
i can do all my weeklies in 3 hours
with 3 hours a day you can basically do everything

your perception of what casual is extremely wrong and misguided
a casual could never compete in any game

single player games and multiplayer games are fundamentally different
it took me 2 weeks playing witcher 3 casually to complete it
the speedruns are under 2 hours

yea that would be close to true, after initial time investment to establish some base required gear/skill

well it depends on game genere
and we are talking on avarge so i can play 2-4h total per whole work week and blast with 12-17h on whole weekend for instance it will avarge out to ~2-3h

hmm yea but how much time you needed “invested” in front to get to that point?
i will not get into examples as its not going anywhere but other games actually respect my time while LA is basically slave simulator, im my opinon, with this monetization/economy model

Casual is a very subjective term tbh depending who you ask. Further it also depends on the type of game you are playing, or atleast thats my opinion. There are games out there you could play for hours on end and still be casual like for example playing ARAM in LoL.

But gernerally speaking i agree with stefan here. I think there was a survey in 2020 which averaged the playsessions of “casuals” at one and a half hour. And most “casuals” wont get past it. They just want to kill some time or play the new “trend”. A good friend of mine started playing elden ring when it got released, clocked like 7 hours and didnt finish the game at all.

Same goes for MMOs and MOBAs. The guy playing in bronze doesnt care about his rang while having fun harrassing the enemy with Heimerdingers turrets. And i bet they also dont care about being Brel rdy. They hop on for matchmaking argos/oreha and maybe normal valtan and log of. Maybe some fishing and gathering in between.

EDIT: Further, i think its established that LA isnt the best “casual” expirience regarding the average playtime of said casuals. So people tend to stick to the game when having more time to “sacrifice”.

Lol I bet you said game will die soon a year ago. Just gonna repeat it every year until it finally does 8 years later I guess.

what do you mean time invested before?
it’s a long term progression game
we don’t have power resets or content wipes
including tier transitions are not equalizers

you are playing the wrong game m8

LA is basically slave simulator

but other games actually respect my time

go play the other games and stop polluting the forums then

Yeah, for new players it’s impossible to catch up fast & keep up with the ones who played since launch. But those who started early actually could get there without any swiping. I’m at 1.8k hours including login queues of the past, playing since release. Took a few breaks, never swiped, bought one ark pass and 2 character slots. Got 2 chars with very good gear at Brel level. A third one is rather close to it but honing it made me poor, because couldn’t run any raids besides Brel & Argos for 3 weeks.

The issue is also practice. Lots of veterans expect no mistakes in reclear parties and some people need 100x practice while others can do it with 5x. It’s what I notice when not running raids for weeks and then sometimes stupid mistakes happen.

people still die at valtan sooo yea
it took me 10 months of doing valtan on 6 characters to get my 1st deathless and it was in a low ilvl lobby

people prefer overgeared players in order to allow deaths
if everyone is overgeared and half the dps dies the raid can still be completed
if everyone is on ilvl and needs pretty good performance and 2 dps die it’s an enrage and wipe

thats why we make the overgeared lobbies we just want to guarantee a clear and minimize the chances of someone sniffing glue jailing the whole raid

i wouldn’t say it’s impossible
your catchup is current end game

currently in our game 1520 is our end game
current max is 1590

and the difference between 1520 and 1590 is nearly 7million gold in materials and 100m silver
this is not supposed to be your goal

a new players goal has plenty of time to reach current end game
a new player has no business demanding to be 1590 and given to them by the game through catchup mechanics

Theres at least some truth to the OP post. You either play something to the effect of 3-5+ hours per day almost every day, or swipe at least a few times. I don’t think its very possible to have 3/4/5/6 characters well into brel with +2 gear ~ilvl 1510-1540 without either playing nolife and/or swiping. I play a lot, bought some chests early on in the game (founders etc) but I never swipe and my main is 1510 (not pushing atm) with two alts 1470+ and the other 3 rounding out top 6 at 1460+. I play 2-3 hours a day (vs 5+ for the first several months).

I took a month off, came back…my goal right now is not pushing my main or getting +2 gear. I want all of my alts to have full relic and to be 1470. Then I’ll either look at pushing a main or two and getting +2 gear. I can’t keep up with the toxic gigachads in the game.

well i mean 1590 Akkan so yeah lol

First time I said it

akkan is 1580
now ofcourse you can push for hard akkan on day 1 which will be ridiculous for even the swipers

after all the koreans were flipping their shit at akkan being 1600 and they had an entire year of brelshaza

I wonder why 1600 is hard to get to. Isnt it just full set +22?

1560-1580 ill just get sheet

tl:dr 1580-1600
can hone 2 or 3 alts from 1490-1580

If not a whale better to hone 2-3 alts to 1580 rather than one to 1600.
Most in KR including strimmers only have 1-2 characters at 1600+
After Voldike people started honing to 1600+
Most in Korea chilling at NM because the grind ridiculous

SG wants casuals to swipe more
The biggest gold sink above are shards and well raw gold.
B/R Stones, silver, marvelous easy to come by
Shards actually req you to farm chaos x2 everyday as I don’t think they are roster bound in KR
Source of complaints.

Yeah these guys making 10-30m vids talking BS when all they have to say chaos dungeons don’t drop enough shards.

Everyone saying 1580-1600 is out of this world insane. equivelant to 2-3 1490-1560 or something.

Good thing when akkahn comes around, D4 will be releeased. We can get our isometric mmo fill there without toxic gatekeeping and horrid raid and upgrade system.

Lost ark can sit alone with 50k people most of which no life or whales.

Gross. Not looking forward to any of that.

I came back after almost a year break, and I can still find groups for what I need. If I want to do higher raids I need to get more gear, but how is that different from most MMO’s?

You get pheons slowly, unless you try gear a lot of chars up to high level you wont get too capped there.

If you are impatient, then yes, you are gonna have to pay a heavy price, a little too heavy I feel.
But you can defintely play it casual and just do a few raids normally and bus your alts, plenty of gold. I barely lifted a finger and got 45k in a week on 3 chars on Valtan, with that gold I can do quite a lot I feel.

I quit after Vykass Hardmode set was completed on my main, so I am kinda scared to go back to Vykass and attempting clown when everyone uses strats I no longer know, but I am sure I can get there If I want to, even as a F2P creeping.
Currently planning on swapping to Artist, and with a little pocket gold and their new pass, I think even new Artists can get to Vykass and Clown within a few weeks.

all the diablo games were awesome. now they are making d4 into a mmo I think its gonna be a fun game.

lost ark chaos dungeons is like a cheap version of diablo or PoE.
guardian raids is like monster hunter but not as good.
and the legion raids I could compare it to tera online.

this is what I see in lost ark it combines different styles of games into one, but each one feels like a cheaper version of the game it got its inspiration from.

Whether its seasonal/leagues or a ‘world of diablo isometric’ game, Im hoping D4 is the next big game for me. I knew what I was getting into with Lost Ark and some day I would have to quit because I dont want raiding to be the end-all content. But we dont know enough about d4’s longetivty, if its just an upgraded version of d3 with open world content or an actual Diablo mmo.

Hoping its the ladder and we can have reasons to log in each day.
