Get off your morality horse for a moment because no one is trying to blame him or others for being born where they were.
AGS, again, legally has no right to publish the game in regions outside of where they have a contract TO publish because doing so could void their contract with smilegate and that would make them lose rights to publish the game. Period.
The clause they contained about not allowing VPN’s is so that they can stay that they do not support people using a VPN to access the game in regions they have no rights to publish in. Does it stop people? No, of course not. But they still have to include that in their ToS to protect themselves from losing the rights to begin with.
Now that they’re enforcing it, everyone is losing their darn minds and it’s just showing how entitled some people are. VPN use was forbidden. If you played using a VPN, you should’ve realized that you were doing so at your own risk. Now AGS is enforcing their rule, and people are upset because they feel entitled to the game they spent $100s on, despite playing using a service that was against the ToS.
That’s their own fault.
And let me make it clear. Morally, I think what they did was a bad move because people play with VPN’s for reasons other than to bypass region blocks. However, it was their ToS and their rules and AGS has every right to enforce their rules if they want to.
The game wasn’t released in these countries and people were not able to play it unless they used third-party programs like VPNs which are forbidden by ToS.
but they still can play the game without vpn, which middle east players cant, thats the point im trying to make, also if you have a “law” then enforce it from the day 1 not after 2month,also there is no morality horse its common sense and i dont see a reason to be so aggresive against them when it is indeed amazon fault to some degree
NE and belgium can still play bc they are part of the eu and as far as i know law states that they cant ban specific eu countries on steam or sth like that. its still not legal to play from there.
and also whatever the contract is,this is amazon TOS which they didnt use from day one,or in their other game, which is again new world, and “enforcing” this after two month is not good for a company like them, especially when ppl did use money and time to play the game on their own risk that is but still it was not a good move from amazon
they said its banned, but they still can connect without vpn to the servers, the only time they needed vpn was to get it from steam and that was it,even for download they didnt need to use vpn,and i know cuz few of my friends did that
Common sense is to be aware that you can be punished for breaking rules. Not pretending that if they didn’t “catch you” on the first day then they should you do whatever you are doing.
I have friends playing this game from Netherlands. While some middle eastern countries got IP restricted at some point, so that they could only use vpn to play the game, people from netherlands are able to play it without even needing a VPN as long as they have the game installed on their pc.
i completely understand that it sucks for everyone who relied on a vpn to play, legally in some cases or not. If my country decided all of a sudden to outlaw lootboxes and subsequently i’d be unable to play i’d be pissed, too. But there just isnt a thing amazon can do. they can’t officialy allow ppl to use vpn’s for legal reasons.
Maaaybe u will get lucky and they drop the vpn ban at some point since they figured sth out that worked against the bots. i dont rly think that will be the case though sadly, its hard to imagine that they’d lift it after implementing it.
I am sorry but if they are only blocking certain countries, while letting others continue to have access (even though they don’t have the rights to publish the game there) I sense something more sinister than “we don’t have the rights to publish this game in your country.”
Whatever. You can then wear your aluminum hat and think about all these evil people hired in AGS and SMilegate who are paid just to think about the best ways to screw Middle East players since obviously everyone needs to hate them for some reason.
there is no war or anything, not even arguement so no need to do that,we’re just talking about this desicion that was made "to get rid of bots’ thats all
Have I become a conspiracy theorist now? Hahah, that something I’ve never bee accused of before. Thanks for that!
Now, I’ll try to rephrase what I said in hopes that you might understand it this time. I have a friend from Iran and another one from Netherlands. They were both able to download the game by using the same trick. As long as they had the game installed they were playing it just fine. Amazon doesn’t have the rights to publish this game on either of those countries.
At one point Amazon restricted the IPs from Iran so they could no longer log into the game. People from Netherlands never encountered this problem. So the one from Iran started using VPN to play.
Now, I am not trying to defend any sides here. But I can’t help but find it odd that this is how this played out.
I’ll gladly put on my tin hat now. Thanks for the free hat
