they said its banned, but they still can connect without vpn to the servers, the only time they needed vpn was to get it from steam and that was it,even for download they didnt need to use vpn,and i know cuz few of my friends did that
Common sense is to be aware that you can be punished for breaking rules. Not pretending that if they didn’t “catch you” on the first day then they should you do whatever you are doing.
I have friends playing this game from Netherlands. While some middle eastern countries got IP restricted at some point, so that they could only use vpn to play the game, people from netherlands are able to play it without even needing a VPN as long as they have the game installed on their pc.
People using loopholes to install and play the game doesn’t mean it’s not forbidden in these countries.
i completely understand that it sucks for everyone who relied on a vpn to play, legally in some cases or not. If my country decided all of a sudden to outlaw lootboxes and subsequently i’d be unable to play i’d be pissed, too. But there just isnt a thing amazon can do. they can’t officialy allow ppl to use vpn’s for legal reasons.
Maaaybe u will get lucky and they drop the vpn ban at some point since they figured sth out that worked against the bots. i dont rly think that will be the case though sadly, its hard to imagine that they’d lift it after implementing it.
I am sorry but if they are only blocking certain countries, while letting others continue to have access (even though they don’t have the rights to publish the game there) I sense something more sinister than “we don’t have the rights to publish this game in your country.”
Dheck is up with publishing rights? does new world have that? it’s available in all country,… no region lock
Whatever. You can then wear your aluminum hat and think about all these evil people hired in AGS and SMilegate who are paid just to think about the best ways to screw Middle East players since obviously everyone needs to hate them for some reason.
well its a thing from smilegate as i’ve been told at least, tho the vpn ban isnt in new world
there is no war or anything, not even arguement so no need to do that,we’re just talking about this desicion that was made "to get rid of bots’ thats all ![]()
Have I become a conspiracy theorist now? Hahah, that something I’ve never bee accused of before. Thanks for that! ![]()
Now, I’ll try to rephrase what I said in hopes that you might understand it this time. I have a friend from Iran and another one from Netherlands. They were both able to download the game by using the same trick. As long as they had the game installed they were playing it just fine. Amazon doesn’t have the rights to publish this game on either of those countries.
At one point Amazon restricted the IPs from Iran so they could no longer log into the game. People from Netherlands never encountered this problem. So the one from Iran started using VPN to play.
Now, I am not trying to defend any sides here. But I can’t help but find it odd that this is how this played out.
I’ll gladly put on my tin hat now. Thanks for the free hat ![]()
Everytime AGS “solves” bot problem only what we are getting is more bots and more pissed players xD
ye its very normal tbh lmao,i mean i played new world so i know how they “handle” problems
“I used to play from middle east”
Fixed for you.
You should blame EU then.
Im not 100% sure about that but in EU there is a law that treats IP address as some kind of “privacy data” so steam neither collects it nor “shows” to the game dev/publisher. So basically they have blocked the game but don’t have a legal way to track IP of specific EU countries. And that’s most likely the reason for this disproportion.
AGS could find a way to enforce ToS on Belgium/Netherland players but that would require manpower, time and money so they most likely don’t care enough to bother.
I am glad that we can have a discussion without insulting one another now. ![]()
I wasn’t aware of that detail, so I appreciate you sharing that. If that’s the reason, I can understand it a little better. Even though it still makes me sad that these are the measures they decided to take.
i mean they dont need to do it from steam, they can do it in a way to give the same error that it gives to others when you’re in like server login section, thats why AGS seems a little bit sus imo and no i dont want them to do that before some angry person comes and say something like that ![]()
well someone is mad,tho to make you even more mad im not from middle east,i just have some friends in there,so good luck in being more angry for pretty much no reason
Well… It’s easy to assume that most of the botters are from China so in theory VPN ban should stop their access but also for everyone with some experience in that field it should be clear that it’s not that hard to bypass by using more advanced VPN tools or just TOR connection. Anyway, I would not suspect AGS employees of being competent in anything so most likely we will see more “random” solutions in hope that maybe any of them will work.
@Camazotz546 AGS has also no access to that data. They are obligated to respect EU laws when they work on the EU terrain as any other company.
Releasing game in the ME would be problematic since they would need to change many many many things just to fit their regional laws and most likely it’s just not worth doing it.
