Rude post lol, but I kinda agree, I would love to be able to play a male assassin and mage, or even a female warrior for those who want it. I hope they are working on this.

Iām female and I usually play male characters or āreal looking whamenā. Gender locking in here is a bit annoying since the class I want to play looks like a teenager who went out clubbing.
Better looking armor would also do it - high heels and a skirt that nearly covers the cheeks is not really a thing for me.

The devs are already working on adding opposite versions of classes anyways. I doubt that they are in a rush to do anything, but itās happening.

I was running dungeons with friends last night and we looked like a group of cosplaying hookers. The high heels, ass-skimming skirts, and slut walks definitely break immersion. I wish my toon looked strong instead of slutty.

I donāt understand the limitation of just one class getting this fix and the ETA of 1 year for that. Maybe itās over simplifying, but why couldnāt they use the body and feature selection models from other gender classes. Map moves with existing gender class. Then they just have to work on clothing design. Frankly they could make the clothing fairly bare bones at first and follow up with more options down the road! But have to add getting the other classes available is higher on my list 
And some of the female designs should have female dev input on the designs. Itās long overdue that games give a range of options to female and male gamers that are a bit more realistic.

Im a guy who likes magic, so the mage would be my goto class. Being gender locked as female isnt a deal braker but looking at me play some hottie that isnt who i am just makes this game feel weird to me. The very second no milisecond i can do a male mage is the moment i drop this female one as my main and probably never play her again.

OP, im with you. The gender lock is very frustrating to me as I self-insert.
I hate the fact that if I wanted to play an Assassin I have to be a scantily clad woman dashing around doing kickflips and acrobatic moves in stilettos and a boob window. I canāt explain why my brain isnāt okay with this but it does bother me profoundly and makes me not want to play.
Hopefully with the success of the game we get another MMO down the line of the same ARPG-focused genre that doesnāt create such restrictions.
Personally, I think im just going to take a break until I see a gender equivalent class added that Iād like to play.

Would be really nice, but not the way they do it right now. Both F and M should be 100% identical except for character models and sounds.

Iād like male assassins too, I really want to play assassin but Iām not into the details that the female characters includes. Luckily theyāve censored most of the details on this version of the game from what it looks likeā¦ But I donāt get it why male skins look badass and female skins have to be all about details to their bodies.
This is subjective. Many people, myself included, think the female skins are equally as badass as the make skins.
Also, cheering on censorship leads down a very dark path, but I donāt have time to give a history lesson right now.
