I would really appreciate the option to disable/reduce the gore

No, you implied a lack of understanding on my part, saying I “should have known” the game has gore, and that “it’s very clear what the game is.” If not directly insulting, you’ve been rude and condescending from the start.

Then you try to flame me for getting defensive when you act in such a petulant manner. Typical troll behavior.

I’m done responding to you. Enjoy your pathetic excuse for a life.

Don’t worry, kiddo. You and Ceddie can have it. Enjoy talking about it with them at high school tomorrow!

ProTip : Someone who doesn’t agree with you doesn’t automatically make them a troll … just like someone who doesn’t read game descriptions doesn’t make them illiterate. Right?

I strongly implied, and later outright stated, that maybe this wasn’t the game for you if you believe taking limited resources away from other things for a net gain that’s barely noticeable (see this thread for a very small sample size). You then went on the offensive telling me how “trivial” it was to add/change without understanding how programming works - relying solely on perceived knowledge without first-hand experience to back up those very words.

Either way, this thread has run its course and it went pretty much as I expected it would.

So I guess we can let this thread bury itself now. Best of luck to ya.

(This was much longer but towards end of typing I just figured, ‘what’s the point’ and deleted everything I had here linking to various programming resources. There’s no point in continuing this anymore since it’s just falling on deaf/stubborn ears.)

[edit]
Oh man, I type a response then see, “Enjoy your pathetic excuse for a life.” That’s all anybody needs to see to know what kind of person you are. And after I typed out to have the best of luck. Pfft… silly me.

There’s probably a single function call to trigger the animations of ragdolls and corpse explosions upon NPC death. All you would need to do is add a checkbox in the settings to disable those function calls in the client. It’s like 5 minutes of dev time and maybe 10 to QA test. I don’t know why this thread turned so hostile, this is game feedback in the game feedback forum, and the game is already 8 years old. Relax.

Everything you said was completely incorrect but thank you for adding to the conversation?

Not a single function to call.
That’s certainly not “5 minutes of dev time with 10 minutes of Q&A”.
Lost Ark was released in 2019 (so not 8 years).

Anyway, thread has run it’s course, with expected results. Time to untrack.

No, but someone who goes on the offensive with disrespectful and condescending comments coupled with a conceited, holier-than-thou tone in their arguments absolutely is a troll.

That’s the kind of person you are; your comment history in this and other threads plainly shows it for the world to see.

Take comfort in your false victories. I’m disabling response notifications, so have your last word. I’m done reading them.

There’s always a Strider in every hundred people. After the eyebrow raise you just keep moving. Don’t feed the troll

So you choose to purchase a game rated MATURE and then ask for things to be put in place so your kids can watch it?

I think I’ll write to Martin Scorsese and ask him for a director’s cut of Goodfellas with no violence so my kids can watch it with me.

Please explain to me why a simple feedback thread with a personal request (which is what this forum is for).
Received toxic response, and actively trying to turn the person away from the game.
Which then turns into arguments throwing shade at eachother.
If you don’t agree with feedback either respond with civil arguments or stay clear of thread.

On topic : I would definitely not mind an option to tone gore down. As OP stated many other games have done so despite M rating.
However i’d also like to note that while playing the game I don’t particularly notice it too much due to spell effects and rapid despawning of mobs/blood/gore.
So if you’re okay with that and you can play the game when kids are not around ((monsters are still pretty scary(depends on age) no matter gore or not)) then I’d advice you to try it anyway on launch.

Because the first response given was informative then the OP decided to snap back … and here we are. When you give toxic responses, you get toxic responses. It’s really that simple.

In your own words, “if you don’t agree with feedback, either respond with civil arguments or stay clear of the thread.” In this case, it was argued that resources are actually infinite and, because Amazon is rich, programming an already-embedded code is “trivial”. You read all that and still need an explanation received the responses that they did?

Serious question…

[edit]
We’ll also skip right over the, "I didn’t even buy the game but I want the game changed to fit “my needs” despite its Mature rating - which in and of itself wreaks of pretentiousness.

Oh and just incase this is confusing. The game is ranked M for Mature. You probably shouldn’t be sharing it with your young kids as the brady bunch equivelent of a family lets play.

This is your first response which quite obviously is passive agressive

What you call “passive-aggressive” (the new buzzword all the kids are using these days), I call asking a question that, as you can see if you kept reading, turned into a debate where one who doesn’t understand the problem of coding something washed it off as “trivial”. This was all addressed in the NEXT couple of posts from the one you copy-pasted here. You read those as well, yes? Are you calling me out solely or is it a joint effort?

To restate again for those that hop around the thread instead of reading it, someone who doesn’t own the game (and apparently won’t for a short while at least) wants to make changes to the already-released game so their family can watch and/or play a game that they are out-rated for. When questioned, the only response given was that it’s a multi-billion dollar company, and coding the fix would be trivial. An intern can do it in less than 5 minutes. But somehow, despite 95% of the thread reacting the same way, I’m the “passive-aggressive” one and there’ son other problems to address at all.

Good call. :+1:

On that note, I wanted to go to bed earlier and got sucked up in a few things … but I’m off now so … G’nighters.

  1. making fun of an argument doesn’t invalidate it’s point, it’s still passive agressive

  2. he is making a suggestion to the game devs, which as far as I’m aware is one of the functions of the forums

  3. the reason why I’m responding to you specifically is because you are the first one to start being aggressive on a thread that’s meant to be purely as a feedback and suggestion to the devs

  4. you are now using the fact that he doesn’t own the game as a part of an argument why he shouldn’t make suggestions to its improvement while when you were under the assumption that he owned it, you were criticizing him for it, so what do you want him to do so that he can make a suggestion?

  5. Unless they have really janky code and/or heavy coupling between particles and other systems, it really isn’t that hard to make the game less bloody

Overall, I personally don’t care about the gore itself, as I’m going to play with it on, but making it seem like it’s a completely unreasonable to make a simple suggestion for an added option defeats the purpose of forums, which are for game feedback

  1. My first response wasn’t making fun of anything - it was inquiring where the thought process was. That’s made evident throughout the thread - repeatedly. NOw going through the thread you can see where I openly admit the tone is changing due to how things were being handled at the time. You failed to point that part out though.

  2. He’s making a suggestion and myself and others rebuttal the suggestion, “which as far as I’m aware is one of the functions of the forums”.

  3. The reason you’re responding to me specifically is you feel the OP needs a “white knight” (do people still use that term these days?) because, as already stated, most of the thread agrees the idea is severely flawed. Making yourself stick out was more important than actually adding anything valuable to the thread. How do I know this? You - literally - didn’t add anything to the thread except to jump on me. You never touched the topic at all, so for you, it’s about ‘protection’ as opposed to ‘communication’.

  4. I’m not ‘using the fact’, I’m adding it as another point of contention to ALL the other things myself and others have already said. If you’re going to cherry-pick an argument, do it more appropriately.

  5. You don’t know the code for the game, and neither do I. That being said, as someone who helps run a gaming software company, I do know what it takes to make a change like this and it’s not as “trivial” as clicking a box in the options field to add/remove a behavior and art assets. But, as already explored in this thread (which you read the entirety of, right?), my experience and knowledge is trumped by someone who has zero experience.

Now we’ve taken a “suggestion thread” and turned it into a debate back and forth because of your responses. Anything constructive will be sidelined by people as they try to wade through the garbage of posts like this - but you needed to feel better about yourself?

An idea was presented. I, and others, responded to that idea with opposing views. It started going downhill when the thread didn’t go the way it was planned - and here we are. Now we’re making sequential lists back and forth to combat – literally nothing. I have contributed to the thread with reasons the idea is bad - whether you like how it was done or not. You’ve done nothing but bash other people with “passive-aggressiveness” labels while nitpicking conversation points that favor your side of the debate.

Are we going to continue making multi-paragraph-long garbage posts or are you going to contribute to the conversation by making an on-topic post that doesn’t involve personal attacks towards other people? Your call.

(Responses will be delayed until tonight - lots of meetings today.)

[edit]
If you wish to continue this back-and-forth conversation, feel free to PM me and we can avoid further polluting this thread.

This line is targeting the OP while bringing nothing to the table, please explain how this is in any way, shape or form not just making wild and untrue assumptions that portray the OP in negative light

  1. the difference is that try to look how many of your arguments revolve around the OP instead of his suggestion itself

  2. I decided to respond because I found the whole thread distasteful, as OP just made a suggestion and a lot of responses are focusing him instead of the suggestion itself

  3. a useless point of contention that holds no value, as whether or not he owns it should not matter

  4. that being said I’m a computer science student and from what I’ve dabbled in UE4, while removing the ragdolls would take more time, but removing the blood spray on kills shouldn’t be much more than just adding a setting to menu that changes a parameter in a particle of a particle system class used for the blood.
Lost Ark is made in UE3 and from what I’ve gathered, it uses particle system too, so it shouldn’t be much different.
Sure, it’s not a matter of 10 mins, but it shouldn’t be a problem to do it in an hour or two so I don’t see a reason why it couldn’t be at least brought as a suggestion to the devs

The debate was there from the start, as you decided to change it into why the OP shouldn’t play it instead of discussing the suggestion

I read the whole thread before posting and wouldn’t have even bothered to reply if you didn’t try to paint the OP as a toxic poster that decided to snap back at an informative response

Why are you filling the thread with this

that should be told and a M rated game is a M rated game!
