ive played WOW and FF14 too. There are still bot problem. its not like LostArk. Try go to prideholme, at the new character spawning point, literally every 2 seconds, a new bot gets created. LA area chats are spammed with gold sellers to death. its not like that in WOW or FF14.
well the only problem is, auction house is region wide so… they’d need to make a sub region in each region. player base would be substantially lower there. i support the idea in general but its not pracitcal in this game.
It is not like that but they are still there, en masse. Just less than in LA. Here it is so easy to make an account and what they’ve done is now you have to pay 5$ on steam to get “validated”. Yay. So as long as you make more than 5$ selling, it does nothing.
Adding a subsciption also does nothing. Same as with the 5$ thing. This will not stop them, just make them adapt.
Getting a fake credit card is also identify fraud and is a felony. If they are strict about banning bots and their associated credit card, we can effectively hinder most of them. Look at FF14, bot problem are very minimal for the 2 years I’ve been playing. Personally, I’ve not noticing any. WoW is a different story because they are relaxed about bots. But you dont see gold spammers spamming the area chat at least.
That will do absolutely nothing.
As an experienced MMO player bots will only stop if players stop buying gold ![]()
If you don’t think there are bots running rampant in sub games like FFXIV and WoW then you either don’t play those games or don’t actually know where to look / what to look for.
lets be fair here, LA bot problem is a lot more serious than FF14 and WOW.
People willing to pay a mandatory subscription are also much more likely to spend money!
So, that kind of server would be even more likely to have RMT!
With internet Anonymity in the NA/EU … nothing will ever be solved. And there will never be an internet ID number for all users in the world…
This is not an easy problem to solve in a global game…
Wow/FFXIV have bots. You have to buy the game, the expansions and then pay monthly subscription. Both game have cash shops. Hell, WoW even sells ingame currency and creates direct competition to RMT.
So, subscription will solve what exactly? Cuz definitely not bots.
If I had the choice between giving up internet anonymity, and fewer bots in Lost Ark, I’d rather not deal with games like this anymore.
Predatory Casino Games like this might be forbidden in a few years anyway.
its not internet anonymity anymore when players are forced to use their credit card to pay for the subscription
Never heard of a prepay debit card? Anyone can get one, requires zero credit rating or check, and all 3 major card providers have option for completely anonymous version of prepay cards.
Amex, MC, Visa - all have prepaid anonymous cards. Can’t be used for products that deliver but any service like a sub, easy.
I doubt it. Very few countries actually completely outlaw gambling as opposed to just regulating it.
they can easily reject prepaid cc as payment method.
No they can’t. Not without rejecting that entire type of payment provider.
A merchant can choose to accept MC over Visa, or accept neither. Or all three Amex, MC, Visa, sure. But they can not reject any specific type of card that provider provides without violating their merchant agreement to process those transactions.
Same for bank issuer (e.g. merchant also can’t say will take Bank of America Visa but not Wells Fargo Visa.
So only way a prepaid anon card would not be accepted is if the merchant declined all cards of that issuing type. E.g. decline all Visa
vendors can totally tell the difference between regular cc and prepaid cards, especially anonymous prepaid cc.
check this out.
google-now-rejecting-prepaid-cards-for-some-of-its-services
Clearly you don’t know how Visa, MC or Amex works.
Or bothered to do simple google search on merchant transaction agreements for any of big 3 card issuers
Or ever ran even the smallest of businesses that accepted credit card payments. A merchant Is free to decline all or none, they can’t pick and choose, what they are free to do is constrain their purchase requirements - e.g. require not just a card number and name / address but forbid PO Boxes. Or refuse to ship to a PO Box, etc
Which is why in my original reply I said prepaid anon can’t be used for most product delivery purchases, but are just fine for service payments.
Since you clearly have no clue how actual commerce works, no further replies. Stew in your own fantasy world if you like.
I am actually dumbfounded that people think a subscription server would solve the bot issue.
