Is Swiftness + Crit a viable build for Igniter sorc? I understand there’s a build around this 2 stats or am I wrong?

What do you think of maxing swiftness with crit necklace with the following engraving?

  • Grudge lv.3
  • Hit Master lv.3
  • Cursed Doll lv.3
  • Igniter lv.3
  • All-out-Attack lv.3

Was just testing this in Trixion.
I have lv.5 cooldown gems on Doomsday, Explosion, Rime Arrow, and Frost Call.
lv.6 cooldown gem on Punishing Strike.
Lv.7 cooldown gem on Squall.

Assuming the skills don’t miss.

With 1337 swiftness and 437 crit:
I can comfortably land 2 doomsday before Igniter ends. So, it took:

00:30 to build a full meter
01:50 to build the next full meter
Upon stopping the test, my :poop: DPS was at 1.6m with 168,241,107 total damage dealt within the 1:50 timeframe.

168,241,107 dmg / 110 seconds = 1,529,464 DPS

Now, with my usual build of 1514 spec, 461 crit and the only difference in engraving is Hit Master is only at lv.1. It took:

00:27 for the first meter to fill
01:23 for the next full meter after burst
Upon stopping the test here, my :poop: DPS was at 1.4m with 118,669,671 total damage dealt within the 1:23 timeframe.

118,669,671 dmg / 83 seconds = 1,429,755 DPS

why would you want swiftness, you need to generate specialty meter as fast as you can so you can use igniter

Yea, I understand that. That’s why I wanted to discuss this with fellow igniter sorcs. I understand there was a streamer who was talking about this build but I can’t find the source.

Swift and crit sounds like reflux.
Unless you have spec, crit and some swift thats what i run. Im in transition to spec and crit. Just need big cooldown gem on doomsday

Your test result are wrong. I’ve tested so many igniter variant. Swiftness is never better. You sacrifice damage for comfort. That’s all swiftness do.

Trixion in itself is meh cause its a dummy. In raid scenario you hardly have perfect uptime and rotation. But nonetheless thats beside the point.

The last time i tested variants.

80spec/20crit > 50/50 spec/crit > 80/20 spec/swift > 80/20 crit/swift > 80/20 swift/crit.

Note that you only have a lvl 5 doomsday. At lvl 7, you can double meteor with 0 swiftness. Swiftness lose its main purpose at that point.

As well as Nightmare set sometime granting 40% cdr, makes swiftness redundant.

Also in your test you mention dropping hitmaster to 1 for the spec test. Why? Also are you still using raid captain?

I can do new tests later and show my results at 5x3 1460 full llv 7 gems. The swiftness variants always pull lower damage. The tradeoff is comfort in more movement speed and much cheaper to afford

No, the reason my Spec + Crit build only have Hit Master at lv.1 because I can’t afford relic accessories for full 5x3. My Spec + Crit build have all the same engravings as Swift + Crit except Hit Master is at lv.1.

Personally i got “lucky”. Bouht 20x igniter before the RMTer drove price up. I then bought 20x allout because i wanted to get my 5x3 faster and idc much for alts.

In the end my 5x3 setup cost me 70k of accessories and 140k of legendary books. This is on NAE so price may differ.

I went precise as 5th instead of cursed doll because its much more affordable and the damage difference is hardly 4-5%. I also like yellow numbers.

It’s around the same for NAW. Average price for Spec accessories with meta engravings is 20-30k. Necklace goes for >70k. That’s why I am trying to test for alternative builds… :smiling_face_with_tear:

Yeah… I got lucky, grabbed a 5/3 necklace for 20k, another piece was only 2k. Precise dagger stuff cheaper.

Getting 20 igniter book seems like a must… because if you need any 4/3 or 5/3 igniter pieces, goodluck… Unless you go more into crit/swiftness on rings or whatever.

Having 2x legendary book and a decent stone allows you to get 1 Legendary piece 3/3 which are hardly 6-10k for necklaces, so that helps too.

Here’s my setup. Level 7 gems are the same as on Maxroll’s Igniter guide. Weapon +19.

Here’s some DPS test. I will put a 1min burst (about 1 igniter) and a 3min dps rotation.

In all these tests, I added these two engravings to not have mana issues. I never go under 50% mana so the dmg increase on MP Efficiency doesnt apply. Reasoning to use those 2 engraving is because otherwise 3minute test has mana issues after the first minute, and this is to test potential output. I never run out of mana in actual content with supports. Also, this means the swiftness builds are a little advantaged because in normal case, more swiftness means more mana problems.

I’ll admit, the Swift Crit setup is much more smoother to play cause so fast, and it relatively keeps up with the Spec Crit builds, but it also runs out of mana very fast, which isnt portrayed in these tests due to the MP engraving i put. Still a decent cheap option, but elitists in West LA will refuse you to parties most likely.

From all this you can make some quick observations.

  • The maxroll BIS setup is indeed the BIS for burst, which usually is what matters.
  • The 2nd Maxroll setup (mine) is weaker burst, but similar over time. The Cursed doll one has the Healing negative as well as less reliable crit.
  • Half crit half spec is very viable, always has been. This used to be my Legendary build 4x3 800 crit 1200 spec. It’s also much more affordable because you can slap Crit pieces in earring/rings and save a lot there.
  • The Swift/Crit build is viable, but it’s more of a constant damage than burst damage, at that point might as well go Reflux which gets even better with Nightmare set piano build.
  • Spec Swift is garbage.

Another thing to note is in party content there’s so much more variable coming into play. Support atk power buff, Crit buffs, Defense downs, etc…

It’s one of my main concern as well but if we’re lucky to have a static or guild to raid with, it should be fine I guess…

I’m very tempted to follow your build for now until relic accessories becomes more affordable. However, Delain Armen still avoids me so I don’t have a lostwind cliff card bonus yet. I’ll likely invest my gold into lv.7 gems first for now.

So would running some swiftness be a better thing early on while I work to get LVL 7 doomsday? Or should I hold out and build without swiftness because I am going to get LVL 7 Doomsday at some point

In the end it’s just 1 necklace.

If you pay a lot for it, might not be worth it… a level 7 gem is only ~8-9k (on NAEast anyway)

If you pay like under 2k for it, sure maybe.

its ATK who talked about it in his video but also stated that after crunching numbers its definitely worse until a very late point of the game where swiftness Igniter can come close to specialty igniter pure to the amount of spells being available on use and the amount of swiftness you can accumulate - that being said, you can just play casting reflux or instant cast reflux at that point because you dont ever end up using igniter buff to its fullest and it doesnt make sense to not play your character to its full potential if youre somewhat worried about it (which i assume you are since you opened up this topic and evend did dps testing in trixion) also to have it noted - trixion is a bad simulation because no boss is stationary, so take it into account.

After reading this i thought you might not be aware, you can freely configure the stats and engravings of your character in trixion for testing purposes. So it is possible to test with whatever configuration you want to (for example 6x3 engravings and 1800/600 stats as they are available in korea at the moment)
