I mean I got to ghost phase in a group with 8 DPS on hard mode and it was consistent. Sadly disbanded because people needed to sleep though.
I have ran Valtan HM with and without supports. I can confidently say that clearing Valtan HM without supports is doable if half your party did not join for a damage buffet.
However, with supports, it makes the run so easy that it’s for toddlers (obviously I’m exaggerating). It’s like you don’t have to always watch if you should be pressing that Time Stop button.
Unfortunately, even with supports I can’t seem to find a clear party. People just leaves before we could clear.
Yeah I guess people would rather spend an hour waiting for a support instead of spending an hour actually playing and doing Valtan so they can get better at the fight so that they eventually don’t need a support.
Great. But you’re missing the point. I know it’s doable as 8 DPS, as long as everyone knows what to do, it’s not a problem.
Having a Paladin and Bard to just heal/buff/shield I think is very valuable and saves a lot of resource.
My bad though for not realizing that this topic is directed to pug groups which are endlessly waiting for Supports.
I agree with you, but as someone who advocates for this, I don’t think it really applys to legion raids. Abyss raids felt to me like the max that you reasonably should go a full dps group. The stress of having to dodge and play your class perfectly while executing and remembering when mechanics come up is enough for most to not want to do it full group of dps. Plus you blow through quite a bit of pots and battle items without a support. So there is eventually a point where you start losing gold trying to do these legion raids.
I’m going to express what’s probably a very unpopular opinion and say that having supports at all in this game was a mistake.
It’s pretty much impossible to make a class that can mitigate damage and not have them become required for every fight.
You think people want to learn how to dodge?
They want a support so they can fail mechanics and blame supports for not shielding them.

Having support classes is nice for variety. But playing support just doesn’t feel rewarding enough, especially when most of the content in LA is solo.

This define clearly how Lost Ark is unbalanced and Glass Canon oriented, which is different of what folks said before releasing…
Before release, I read lots of articles saying that every class is capable to support itself on each content, being Bard and others supporters just optional enhancement, but not HIGHLY required as I can see some saying and defining…
Today I see Supporters offering their “job” for 5k gold in my server 
Meanwhile this, AGS/SGS nerf DPS “job” to not be “unfair” with Supporters… It seems a joke, but it is the reality
i’m 1405 at the moment, don’t really have the gold to progress my gear, maybe in a month i will be 1415.

That’s untrue nothing in the game requires you to have supports all they do is allow you to fuck up some
Pugged with 1 friend and 6 random players today as 8 DPS, pretty much all except 1, maybe 2 had next to no experience and we learned it as we were going. Had to replace a few people due to being burnt out and unable to concentrate but we managed in the end, so I can personally confirm that it is totally possible, myself doing it for the first time, and without any supports. 
Lost Ark Community: Grudge and Cursed Doll are required for DPS, you should dodge everything and not need potions. You don’t have it? GTFO!!!

I’m assuming this was a neutral reference? Grudge and cursed doll are essentially negated if you have a support, but if your the type that likes full dps groups, then I personally wouldn’t run cursed doll atleast, maybe grudge.
Show a hardmode clear with 8 dps from a pug group at min 1445 ilvl lol
Not saying it’s impossible but you’d waste more than a few hours.
It’s not just about shields/healing. Their buffs are big increase to overall party damage (compared to adding another DPS)

The supports will get to 1415/1445 soon. It will take some time. The type of players that play support as main, are more chill and typically the type of personality won’t fomo their way to the top asap. I know I am generalizing here, but it’s usually the case.

Hopefully something is done to alleviate the support shortage.
Valtan and vykas can be struggled through without supports, but when we get to clown boy and abrel supports essentially become mandatory. I’m pretty sure all of the content in the game can be cleared without a support, but you’d have to be a masochist to want to do that instead of bringing supports.
