Instituting a defense against name sniping?

Because of the poorly handled decision regarding character names being locked indefinitely after character creation, there will be high number of bad actors “sniping” desirable names and deleting the characters so no one can have them. If you can’t fix the names, can you at least put a lengthy character deletion timer to hinder them from taking many? Like 24 hours or so.

There is a deletion timer in other regions so it is likely to be in place in NA/EU aswell (I think it’s 24hrs if I remember rightly)

They’ve already said it is a manual refresh on names in NA/EU.

As we don’t know how frequent these manual refreshes are, “indefinitely” still applies.

I agree with you. My only advice is to come up with a large variety of names from native and other languages or makeup words. The sad truth is people will snipe names and there is nothing anyone can do about it other than AGS or Smilegate, and sadly they’ve chosen this road.

My thoughts are that any names with a shorter amount of characters will get locked out by this method early on, making it progressively more difficult for new players to think up a good name over time. It could get bad because, as OP said, there is nothing stopping someone from constantly locking up any name they can think of. Maybe it will be good if this can force Amazon’s hand faster. Make them fix their system or at least manually reset things on a daily basis.
