First of all, this is not a 1 time thing, even on regular weeks you are constantly having to choose between finishing dailies/weeklies on rested or doing raids, and its not just about me, when you put people against the wall and give them only 2 choices: either spend a lot of money or grind nonstop then it really is no wonder the playerbase declines. A lot of people have work and real life responsabilities, expecting the average player to play several hrs a day just to keep up with content its insane, just cuz “nobody is forcing you to do anything” doesnt mean players wont get frustrated and leave, you can argue that people dont have self control all you want but when the game is so heavily leaned towards making you do lots of boring homework that are pretty much mandatory to get enough resources to hone and play the end-game raids then its unrealistic to expect people not to quit. This week i did twice brel h 1-2 with pugs, it took several hrs each even tho i wasnt dying at all, i attempted g3-4 two days in a row and it was impossible, i had to settle with normal, when normal brel came out i was able to prog/pug 3-4 in around 3 hrs, brel hard its a little bit like clown where each player member has big responsability i already know it wont be something that you are gonna be able to just put on farm mode with pugs no matter how well you play.
I actually enjoy g5-g6 HM more than NM, its fun to play the only problem is that my SH 1560 with lvl 9 gems, and GS 1560 with few lvl 9 rest lvl7 gems are always gatekept… when i somehow got into lobby, we get like 1-2 pulls where someone dies and people wants insta quit raid… Its just annoying this time, because few people from our static just quit the game so pugging right now for me is pretty much impossible, and since we are in week 2 (everyone wants ach. or horns) there is no way i can get into lobby
you know that you cant compare wow/ff14, where its raids/endgame content built for 1 mainchar, with a kr grind game, where the focus is on grind, especially on:
6 chars x3 raids = 18 raids =
vykas 3 bosses
kakul 3 bosses
brel 6 bosses
= 18*12= 216 bosses per week.
homework with 2 brel gates only=18*8=144 bosses
imagine you have to raid 216(144) bosses in wow per week.
ofc, lost ark bosses (and gates) cant have the same difficulty and length.
But WoW content cannot be compared to Lost Ark. Like it wouldnt be fair.
We got 3-5 boss / half a year maybe in LA.
And thats all. I dont count open world in Lost Ark because all of them are plain trash and nobody wants to do it more than once.
Quantity wise WoW has much more bosses and actually a good open world in the same cycle than Lost Ark.
In LA you basically get a new button in a menu which is the new raid (content).
WoW is one of the best MMORPG (compared to LA)
LA…well…LA has good boss mechanics and thats all the positive thing I can say about it.
as i mentioned above- you can compare wow with ff14, but not with lost ark as its a grind game and it wouldnt make any sense to have even more gates per boss or more gold-chars per week or more available gold-raids per week (>3). then even more ppl would complain that loa doesnt respect your time.
or do you want 5 gold legion raids per week, 5-6 gates per boss, 8-10 gold chars per week and 8000+ gold rewards per raid?
then you would have your content, and every1 would complain that its too much for 1 week
lost ark has many good things both WoW or FFXIV dont have.
lost ark has progression curve, something none of those have.
lost ark also has insane combat, something none of those game has.
i honestly enjoy the world of lost ark, reminds me of dark souls a little bit, the lore is available to you if you discover it (rapports, island stories, hidden quests, etc).
Also lost ark is an ARPG, so this allows for the game ot have some sick camera sequences (look at akkan hidden gate and tell me this isnt impressive).
You would have simply said LA have best combat and RNG item lvl pregression curve.
LA combat is best in ARPG action genre and WOW have best combat in free camera tab targeting MMO genre, Both are best in their won ways and can’t be compared to each other. I played both games for many many hours and I never felt WOW combat is bad or inferior compared to LA but it is indeed fresh and new. For progression I think LA progression is just ilvl increase which make you do more damage and nothing more. In WOW you get new skills with new expansion and your rotation/ meta skills change with every new gear set, also i can play one class in many different ways by just changing skill tree and free gear sets, but in LA your game play never change after you get your all tripods and atleast lvl 7 gems, I am playing my all classes exact same way with no change at all ever since i got all relic gear set. LA is the most boring Progressive system with only change is your ilvl and damage number, even Koreans are playing all classes the exact same way as I do but with slightly larger number damage. Progression in LA is fake and only exist to make you keep grinding for next new content without any effort put by Devs to make class play differently. Also making class changes in LA is always seen bad because how much you need to invest to change Tripod/gems and sometimes engraving.
So yea progression curve in WOW is way better and always comes with something and not just ilvl increase.
ehh not really. you dont just get bigger numbers in lost ark, you get cd reduction, classes feel better
(igniter being able to do 2x doomsdays, etc). Your class feels better the more you gear it in Lost Ark, thats what i meant with progression. You dont just get bigger numbers.
Not really, once you have lvl 10 cd gems (which i have for so long) there is nothing changing but whatever makes you feel good, usually it is only Spec classes which feels better with CD reduction and “better” means less clunky, which is same theory, create problem and sell the solution. Why class have to feel clunky until i get lvl 10 gems which is not achievable for many many hours of game play as there are more important things to spend gold on. But if that is progress for you then sure I will not argue.
Yes it feels better to do big number damage and that is the whole progression of LA. There was a point in Shadowland expansion where people were mad because all they were focusing on big numbers rather than giving variety of gameplay. Making numbers go bigger is just a boring progression, I don’t want to play class exactly same for 2 years with same rotation.
I have done M24 keys in shadowlands and Mythic gives you high ilvl gears + done with in mins + have battle res, hell mode is done to get title and once you have title you done and the whole difficulty of hell mode is your team member not dying which is again is a artificial difficulty for time and gold sink. Deathless should be you not dying, not your team members, it would have saved me 30-40 pulls for Helltan title.
that really depends on the types of players in your group. not everyone wants a chill 100 pulls “its okay little timmy theres always the 101st pull for you to learn” because surprise, theres people that only value performing and some people aren’t cut out for it
one of my friend groups always takes this one guy that even to this day still wipes brel normal 3-6 and l simply don’t run with them anymore if hes in the party. thats perfectly fine for both groups since we have differing interests
If you have a well established static generally speaking you don’t have people that need 100 wipes to figure things to begin with, but there are plenty of times a specific mechanic someone struggles with and maybe it takes a couple more resets than it should for that one person.
These are the situations where there is no value what so ever in being toxic and getting angry at that person. It does nothing to help.
not necessarily. some people learn slower but peak higher and vice versa. some players are okay with taking longer to get to your 100% and some just want to full send as soon as possible.
l personally am willing to take someones lower 100% if its significantly sooner than someone that will be even a significantly better player but take far, far longer to get to that point. l simply don’t have the patience for a 100 hour jail when l’m already good to go long before that
but if the content has been out long enough and both the lower 100% and slower learner are already etablished? peak player every time
So I fall into the category of “not super quick learner but it’ll take me a few tries to get the hang of stuff”
My biggest weakness is normal pattern tells, as it takes me a while to figure it out, and even then sometimes it can be a bust (Vykas is a very good example, is she wiggling/moaning to do this move or the other move because they’re all about the damn same, also her sprite is very small compared to others making it harder to visually see what she’s doing sometimes)
I don’t claim to be perfect at all, well, because no one is
But someone expecting me to learn something after doing it once 100%… yeah that’s a bit of a problem
I think a lot of the players expect other people to “learn at their (the person themselves) pace”
“What do you mean you haven’t gotten this whole raid down with 100% perfection after one completion? FUCKING SCRUB”
Bitch, ain’t NO ONE god damn performing 100% perfection on any god damn raid after one clear
perform or disband and try again another day. theres 0 purpose throwing yourselves at a brick wall hoping to rng a clean run
last game l played while going for dps leaderboard runs you just go next if variables aren’t in your favor whether it be sleepy, not feeling it, ping slightly higher than usual, you not performing, party not performing, etc
hell if theres no healer that buffs/debuffs properly, l’d rather just not run and take the L
So true man, whenever i look at people’s profiles each class has always the same 5 engravings/stats, its very sad, very rare to see someone not using 1 of the same 5 meta engravings other than the ocassional mass increase.
Yup I respect that and 100% agree, but that doesn’t mean you’ve turned angry/toxic over a bad night. It’s still GGs and cya tomorrow.
The 100:1 above, yeah sure someone might get that one run in faster, but that static has an overall shorter lifespan in the end as both the good players and the players that might be struggling both end up leaving not wanting to listen to the comms anymore.
Naturally this doesn’t fit everyone, plenty of people (myself included) can function in a high stress no mistake and stern / angry comms, i’ve been there for years as well.
Only saying in the end, not treating the run like someone’s life is on the line and just having fun with the people you play with is a healthier alternative to just being an asshole over mistakes is all.
