wow i thought i was gonna have like one of the highest hours played at 1200 since i’ve played from launch and leave the game running in server screen like 24/7 so i dont have to wait the 5 min for game to launch…1400+ thats insane xd
Addiction is only really considered such when you start shirking real-life responsibilities. That’s obviously going to vary based on how many responsibilities you actually have. I work 40 hour weeks which sometimes turn into 80 hour weeks so I can often only play an hour or two a day. Someone with a family on top of that will have even less time. But if you don’t have any of that and are not destroying your life by playing the game, have at it.
To be honest, no its not normal, i think you are addicted to the game and need fresh air a bit, before its too late.
Yikes maybe its time to take a break, get a another hobby ![]()
Define “normal”.
So you’re addicted to your job then? 40 hours working to 80? that could be considered addiction to money no? or something at work for sure, lol
It’s called crunch. I work in gamedev and while it’s not a super-regular occurrence (maybe 3 weeks a year) it’s a fact of life.
I was just getting on your case b/c obviously, we have to work to live so it’s okay/normal to put 80 hours into work but then we also say people who have more free time are addicted to something they put 80 hours in.
Just pointing out the obvious.
Thing is, putting 80 hours a week into a videogame isn’t addiction if you have the free time. Lots of people put huge amounts of time into their hobbies. It’s when you start to bleed over basic things like personal hygiene and livelihood that it becomes an actual problem.
The same people who say its not normal are the ones who sit and watch tv or stay on thier phone for 12+ hours a day.
I run a youtube channel, Go to college full time and work a full time job and have 1500 hour in lost ark. I exercises daily and eat healthy and find some time to hang with irl friends when they are not working.
Do what you think is fun
False
I didn’t ask for your opinion
500 hours for me guess i am still a rookie. xD
It’s definitely not normal but addiction requires a little more than just hours accumulated since for example, your job involves streaming the game it might not be an addiction. The game has been out for 86 days including early release time, that’s 2064 hrs total. If you are averaging 12hr+ in a video game every day for 3 month straight when it’s not required, it would probably be considered an addiction. even if it is part of your job, getting unto 14-16hr per day average would probably be considered an addiction. Just because it’s part of a job doesn’t mean you can’t be addicted.
Honestly? It’s not normal.
People with 1.4k+ hours ?
Play everyday.
They literally wake up, boot up lost ark, play, eat, shit, sleep. repeat.
no job, living and wasting away their life under someones else care, or rich AF and retired/streamer as a job.
Many does not fall on the last one.
So they just literally rarely ever do touch grass.
I’m talking 1-2 days max out of a month if even…barely going outside longer than 8+ hrs.
Maybe even worse like 1-2 days only out of 3 months…
But hey not my problem.
What an absolutely horrid way of thinking.
I don’t know about your expertise in psychology (I’m sensing 0) but you have absolutely no idea how impactful it is to hibdering social development.
There’s truth behind jokes of gamers being akward or cringe around other people or girls and if you think that as long as the law allows it then it’s fine, you are the type of person that’s missed the lessons on common sense.
I dread people like you that only respond to the stick.
Disgusting…
If you arent being a burden to other people and are able to sustain yourself, do whatever you like.
At the end of the road, everything you did will be meaningles. If you feel the need to acomplish something, its just your brain trying to cope with the fear of dead, leaving some legacy or family behind in hope to live forever.
Bro haha you can literally have a job and at the same time have 1k+ hours into the game, thats literally me, also whats this “wasting away their life” wtf, it’s never a waste if you have fun/enjoy it… whats better? go outside, drink alcohol every day? play futball everyday? spend 8 hours in the gym? watch netflix all day? sit outside your house watching people pass? everyone have different goals in life, if playing video games is not your goal that’s fine but that doesn’t mean other people are wasting away their life" I could say you are wasting away your life if you work for more than 8 hours a day on a job that you don’t like :v
Everything is fine if you are not hurting anyone (Including yourself)
I hate when people try to define what is “normal” and what people SHOULD be doing
