No, its not easy to lie that hard. They really learned from NW. They learned to lie better and ear more money wasting less.
Yeah so lets open all servers, even servers with 10 k queues. BEST solución ever.
I’m willing to bet I’m going to see this screenshot in a youtube video a few weeks from now.
Rather than listen to suggestions from a bunch of randoms on this forum they could of - you know - actually had a concrete plan with contingencies for the launch like a proper games company would of.
Instead they blunder around, saying one thing , doing another - going from one mistake to the next while either not communicating at all for long periods or posting single sentence updates that say very little.
It’s sad because it’s a great game that deserved much better. It won’t recover from this to the levels it could have been at.
To be fair they cant just press a button and then the server works with Lost Ark. Configuring Servers for a specific servers can take quite some time.
‘’To be fair”they managed okay spinning more up during the head start.
Those servers where ready to go new one will take time to configurate. Question is how many can they get an how long would this take?
Of course they were ready, but its clear that not enough servers were pre-configured in case that more servers are needed and those that do that work are probably enjoying their weekend and are not working right now.
That’s the real problem, they chose immediate cost and time over user experience and their own future contingency.
It’s a battle I can see small indie firms having, but not companies with the resources and capital Amazon have.
They should have had many more spun up and ready to go, it’s a lot easier to turn one off than set one up and would have cost them a small amount in time and money, especially compared to the time and money it’s costing the user base.
Pure greed is the complaint from me and it was the same in New World.
There’s probably a few issues at play here, so we can only really speculate.
On the financial side, having too many servers on Day 1 is as bad as having not enough (for Amazon). It’s easy to say ‘they should have known the demand would be high’, but I suspect they looked at all the available data (KR and RU volumes etc), and went with the minimum number of servers with a small amount of contingency. People tend to underestimate in businesses a) the disconnect between the people doing the work and the people making the decisions, and b) how much influence a Finance dept has over a company.
On the technical side. AGS should be in a great position to meet demand as the whole premise of AWS is scalable server infrastructure. I would be shocked if Amazon do not have enough hardware available - they support far bigger operations than Lost Ark. They should be able to spin up virtual machines fairly easily. (They spun up 6 new EU servers during head start, plus NA and other regions, very quickly for example).
Also, we have to remember that LA is 4+ years old now. So there could be a few limitations in the engine or code that stops them raising the pop caps on existing servers easily even if they have the hardware.
None of this really excuses the shitshow we have on EU servers. I think it was a huge mistake doing the general launch on a Friday (you never do production releases on a Friday!!). They could have had the head start run from Feb 8 to Feb 14 so they could do the general release on a Tuesday (15th).
If they had done this they would have had 1 week of data from the head start to adjust the servers according to demand. They would also be releasing during the week when player volumes would naturally be lower during the day and they could adjust throughout the week. And they would not be trying to fix stuff on a weekend when staff may not be available.
let me correct you there genius.
First they thought that increasing server capacity by 10% would be enough to open the servers for new player’s to go in so they did so and didn’t go well
Now since they messed up and everyone got screwed over due to them being incompetent and not thinking of it. people are complaining about why they opened the servers for new player’s despite them seeing that these servers are OVERLOADED
now before you start acting like a whiteknight etc maybe think for a second before posting? thanks in advance. also i forgot you work for AGS that you knew they opened the servers because of complaints.
Employ this guy!
The ones they currently have in place frighten me. Patch 4 hours before release, not locking full servers, allowing F2P to freely join at any point servers that already have extensive queues.
New World again
You think they produce servers on-demand lol.
that’s not the reason i knew, but over 7k Comments on twitter crying about not being able to play with there friends might be a hint
and im not white knighting, im simply tired of everyone crying like a little bitch. they fucked up there own game at launch ofc they fuck this up too. I just want them to tell us what’s going on.
what this guy said here!
well they mentioned they were prepared for launch / etc… but here we’re. turns out they weren’t prepared not one bit. as for twitter… there’s a reason why i don’t use twitter as much anymore is because it’s a ridiculous place. but again complaining isn’t a reason for them to open servers. they only opened when they thought that they can do it after the increase of capacity which they did but since it was little it wasn’t enough.
they’re still increasing the capacity or at least working on doing so. so we’ll just have to suck it up for now but nobody is happy cause this is madness. i got kicked few times from queue and now i’m so far from 26k to 5k in queue idk if i’ll get kicked again or not but i don’t care at this point. if i get kicked i’ll just come back late at night and try again…
You think they have Hugh Wearhouse just filled with random server hardware? they need to get it from somewhere, and everyone is buying it atm since Lost ark is not the only game in demand for more servers it’s certainly not easy.
200k server capacity with another 100k to go. They where ready… for the numbers they saw in Korea and Russia, US is not having that much trouble either from what i have seen. Lets be real Amazon just does not care for Europe and it shows.
yeah US is enjoying their time but EU is suffering… i wish if they put more effort into EU but what can you do… i can’t even do any farming due to the long freaking queue. i was planning to wake up and grind but here i am stuck in queue since i woke up. it’s almost 11PM here and i didn’t play for a second. all i was playing is getting kicked from queue simulator…
They’re probably using counterfeit servers since amazon has been taken over by china. (not being racist or anything but i can barely find anything original or real on amazon anymore)
