I would disagree, If they take a hard stance now, people who want to spend money might think twice about cheating in the future. I would wager there are plenty of people that would have spent money on this game that flat out quit because of the amount of bots. Imagine if AGS went out of the gate with a zero tolerance policy, sure tons of people would have gotten banned, but lots of people that ended up RMTing down the line would probably not have done so, and may have even went through with buying gold the legit way.
I dont want to play with cheaters at all, and I think a lot of people would feel much better if they were just removed from the game and or punished severely.
This. They shouldn’t have given any speculation of a second chance for RMT players. Those that would complain about not having a second chance wouldn’t be in the right regardless.
If an item is being cap at 5g for example, no lower or higher is possible:
Bot will sell in order to get gold - They will never buy.
Players will also do the same. The benefits here is because it is 1:1 you have players fighting the bot instead. Meaning that player can give bot the gold to hold and they in turn get the item to upgrade and move to the next tier to make more gold, thus outpace the bot.
So someone earlier brought up a good point. If we make it so that 1:1 is being kept until Legion raid gold to give players a huge amount, then bot cannot undercut the players anymore.
Let’s take fish as an example
Let assume 10,000 bot is fishing, and the cap of these fish are being set at 5g. No matter what, if player also do fishing, the fish will also net them 5g.
Now if player want to buy fish for their usages, it’s still 5g. Meaning there’s no reason to do RMT. The importance part is that because we also have trade → player can instantly undercut the bot price instead and trade directly to other players for 4g.
I don’t know how well this would work with accessories however. The core idea is that give power to players to undercut the bot prices, then it will make whatever bot is earning become useless.
Think of it like this. When the rates of crystals to gold increases, people who want to buy gold from bots would buy from the shop is what you are saying right? When this happens, it is made so that this decreases the ratio of crystal to gold as more people trade real crystal to gold. So eventually, the prices would go back down lower than the bots rates if it is even possible to go under the bots rates.
Why not set the rate of crystals to gold permanently the same? Well, then there would be an influx of too much gold in the system from players buying it with crystals, while skewing and making it harder for those with gold to transfer into the crystals. So it becomes very one sided, and ruins the economy, which is what you are trying to fix when you combat bots anyways
I’ve been saying for weeks now, it’s about supply & demand. Economics 101. Curb the demand and supply will suffer. In this case, permaban RMT buyers, then bot commanders have no one to sell to. Apparently this basic principle of business eludes AGS management.
From a pure business perspective, AGS/SG would be banning the players willing to use real money in the game. It is better to make these players to use their money on gold from in-game shop. AGS/SG do not want to have only free-to-play players playing this game…
You might be right, but look at it this way, they are banning players they know certainly are cheating. Whether or not these players are willing to spend money ingame is up for debate.
Also consider, how many people are not interested in financially supporting a game that does little to nothing to stop cheaters?
How many threads on the forum begging for more skins and cosmetics? There is plenty of people willing to spend money, AGS simply need to give people what they are actually asking for.
If Ags really wanted to obliterate bots, they whould just remove the ability to send gold by mail. That’s all they have to do.
Transfering gold using the market is also almost impossible since they are already regulating the market with Pheons.
Obviously AGS WANTS bots, cause they just increase the player population.
What they do is, raising population by 300k. Then they kill half to keep an anti bot appearance as in: “hey! we are banning bots! We are doing something about it!”.
At the end what really happens is a 150k player count increase, all bots obviously, and players thinking that AGS is doing something about bots.
