Heya all! I’m just so excited for this wonderful game…ever since I heard about it back in 2014/2015 while testing another game called Devilian when it was in it’s CBT, I was just overwhelmed with excitement!
I first heard about Lost Ark from Devilian’s community and ever since then I was hooked into Lost Ark despite it not being well known in NA at the time. Since if I remember correctly Lost Ark Korea was in testing stages, but please correct me if I am wrong. My memory all those years ago has faded a bit lol.
Almost 6-7 years ago I could never stop thinking about Lost Ark and despite the pushes, set backs, etc I still was excited and hyped for it no matter what. Sadly for me, Devilian got shut down in March of 2018 and couldn’t find a game similar to it besides Lost Ark which I couldn’t have access to lol.
So the excitement just kept growing and growing and wanting Lost Ark to come to the west. Even typing now it feels like a dream that my 6-7 year wait is finally over lol. How is everyone else enjoying Lost Ark so far?
I know it’s in CBT so there will always be some problems/bugs but in general, what do you all think of it so far? Is it living up to your expectations? For those who also waited a long time like me, do you think it was worth the wait? Me, I’d give it a 100/100 lol.
Can’t agree more! I’ve played MMO’s for years now, Devilian was my first MMORPG and was my last for a long time until Lost Ark came to be, I defiantly understand the enjoyment of playing an MMORPG after a long time.
And true, we do have to wait for official launch, however think of it this way, we got all the time to play on the CBT give wonderful feedback and hope that all of that useful feedback will make the game launch smoothly with little to no issues, granted there would be issues but hopefully not major that will ruin the game when it launches in March.
Game would’ve been near perfect for me if we got the Korean game files with an English subtitles/game language pack. Instead we got a buggy unpolished copy
I’m actually almost shocked of how good this game seems to be even during closed beta,
Haven’t seriously played any Mmo since Wotlk, more and more disappointed by released game in the west ( most game i was waiting for last 5 years were released in an almost unplayable state, which doesnt help building up a stable community for multiplayer end game) - both as a player and also as a consumer.
Tbh i wasnt waiting for LA anymore but i tried it for my former self. I guess we will have time to discover all its flaws but so far, keeping in mind that progression and difficulty were most probably set up for a 1 week experience, its very pleasant to say the least.
The simple fact that you dont have to backtrack while pexing shows that player in game experience was taken into consideration while designing the game. Might seem nothing but its a feat i found in many aspects of my playthrough : never felt obligated to commit to something i didnt want to do (choice of difficulty/ multi or solo, choice of content when you reach early end game, skipping or no cut scene, normalised build and lvl in pvp - minus bug)
I guess the released game will be more farm intensive, but while playing you can feel the content was designed in a clever way, while keeping the MMos core features.
The biggest flaw i’m a bit concerned about from my newcomer point of view is the localisation of the game. I dont care so much about the voicing and the few desync with subtitle during the scenario, but i fear the poor and inconsistant localisation could be a drawback for the game.
I understand localisation is not an easy thing to achieve, especially when it comes to cultural references etc… but concerning the skills/ classes and game mechanics, things could have been done better.
It took me a quite a while to find the correct english name for my class, after what i just switched the game to english fully.
Having been playing another Arpg which community is 90% non native english speakers for years, i know this is not a good thing in a meta/community based game :
lots of non english native players wont find quality content for the game, which is actually a problem in itself (related to accessibility : if the game is effectively playable only if you speak foreign languages, it keeps a lot of people out of it)
in my experience, it also prevent communities of player to build up in their own language, and hence harm the game itself in the long term…
I really wish LA will be successful in the West in general and in europe in particular, i look forward to play it, but if the localisation stay the same for the release, concerning the game mechanics, i think playing it in my native language is a higly unrealistic option.
