Monitoring requires having employees constantly sifting through every mail sent and every ah listing.

If they kill gold mailing, there isn’t a need to monitor the mail system.
And its clear they don’t have resources to monitor things.
There’s many reasons why auctioneers are anonymous. This is definitely not necessary.
Killing gold mailing already lights up RMT just like mailing does except…it also lights up all the buyers of the gold too.

Why i speak about gems, and i say GEMS not stones.
If i don’t do any mistake, gems doesn’t ask pheon, so you get rid of this problem.
They are also easy to identify : between CDR/damage, the level, the skill, the price, and the time remaining, there is no way you will buy the wrong one…
Gems are easy way to trade gold thru AH
so here is how, without direct trade/mail for gold, you can trade gold thru AH : take a t2 gem (useless, easy to get with some arcturus/ancient coins, or old gems you still have) say to friend level of the gem, the type (CDR/damage) the skill, and if doubt… the price, don’t worry you will get your gold.
Now you want to trade an item or a set ammount of mats to a guildmate but with lowering the price by 20%
So you get the gold thru the gem as above. then you give him the item. => done. Little more work than a direct trade for sure, but for a really rare case i am also sure…
Do you read what I just said ? Please sit down and think about why and when a scam can happen. Your entire assumption is that they must use AH to trade.
A want to sell x item to B the steps would then:
1 - A either trade the item first to B or
2 - B buy the item worth of gold value from A first
There’s nothing to stop people from offering their items in their Area for LESS than the market. Absolutely nothing. You’re working on the assumption that if you don’t use AH to trade, then you’re dumb or the problem don’t exist - but it does exist.
If I am a scammer, I can just take a necklace worth 50,000 gold in AH, sit in Area chat and said I will sell this for 40,000 gold, a person who want to buy this would then need to do the step above because I can say if I put this on people will snipe it since it’s so cheap. This is ONE example.
I’m not saying it can or cannot happen and this whole idea isn’t even mine to begin with, it begin with a person earlier bringing up the idea of less than 1g and it does make sense.
Yes. The goal is to suggest a system that will affect botting while dealing minimal impact.
Things like legitimate non-AH transactions are the best argument against this system.
Then again if AGS is against things like paying for carries or Bussing I can imagine them winning in multiple ways here

if i want to sell my necklace to unknown people i go AH…
But lets say you want to sell this necklace with a 20% cut to a friend, ok.
Your friend prepare the search (so t3, relic, the good stats, the good engravings) you put the necklace in AH, he refresh, see the necklace, buy it…
The chance to have anyone else, with total coincidence at this exact moment looking for the same necklace (stats/engravings) are quite low…
who the hell makes a friend pay for something in a video game? I’d never call anyone that greedy a friend.
Especially like guardian shards or other 1g shit you’ll never sell because there’s 2575778842355 million other 1g listings.

It’s not about giving friends free materials or items. I will repeat once more because it seems you three are hung up on the ideas that I am against this because of my friends.
I am not even an English fluent but I can understand ideas and draw backs from others voicing their ideas.
At this point if you were to do Gold-mail removal then just please also remove player trading altogether as well and leave the AH because that would deter possible new scam methods.
I’m also not the type of friend to expect/want free stuff handed to me from my friend, even if it was offered. Sorry you have to think that is the norm, if my friend sell me something cheaper or they offered me for free, I will pay or I would always ask to pay. Nobody is making me do it. So I will just say your assumption about friends paying to another friend is being greedy is wrong. If anything, the ones receiving free stuff is being greedy, but that’s where our view and treating our own friendship is different from each other.
Once again I apologize if any of you are offended because I held different view point from the idea being presented here, I see flaws in it and possible impacts that it can have on legitimate players, which I happened to share that same sentiments with a few here and I understand some of you may feel strongly against that.
Be easy to detect such AH gold trades out of the average pricing.
This topic is about stopping gold sellers and botfarms from easily profiting off the current lax state of the game’s systems.

well prepared i did easy got outfit in AH in BDO in the old one, when we couldn’t “prebuy” outfit like now.
When the outfit was listed by anyone, we had an ingame message, so 15 minute after, we could buy it, first to click first to get. swapped character 13-14 minute after message (to a character close to AH NPC)… and lot of people tried to get some of those outfit.
here no one knows when a jewelry they want but a really good price will be listed… if with preparation i was able to do this snipe, two friend with good coordination will have close to 100% success…
Risk 0 never exist i won’t lie, but this is really extremly close to 0.
i totally prefer this small risk, to the bot horde we can see… this is the point of this topic : making the bots less a problem.
What amazon did did harm players far more than the idea defended in this topic, no one says “no harm to players” … just “between what amazon did, and this… clearly this is better”

I read the OP, he listed 1 negatives yet if you read this whole thread there are many other problems and concerns here. I didn’t even think of a possibilities of new scam until I read the other comment of unable to sell under 1g and doing a bus sell.

Unlikely. It would require rewriting a massive part of the core game even though “mail” in and of itself seems like a simple plugin.

But yeah killing gold mailing would also affect legitimate player trades outside the auction house, so not every solution is perfect either.
If there is a solution though, it really needs to strike at the way gold buyers do business with RMT and gold buying in general…
And the team will gobble it up and implement it immediately! It is not enough that the game has a bullshit system called Pheon, now gold mailing has to be hampered. All because the team is incompetent and unable to handle bots. Even shittier companies did better job at handling bots and hacking than this billion $$ company! Shameful!
