Except the game is classified as an MMOARPG.
Its LITERALLY right on the main page.

why did you come back tho
was getting bored of the other games i was playing and i remembered the combat was so great.
At the start i only did 2 guardians then logged off for about 1-2 weeks but it slowly turned into wanting to progress.
I think his is a perspective of a newbie when he joins a raid for the first time xD
That’s how I felt when I first did Valtan g2; I was like, damn what the f**K, 150 HP bars are they insane??
I immeditely started to wonder what the next raids are gonna look like if this one is the easiest, lol. I gotta admit that’s what made buy a bus couple of times.
But then, seeing one guy do the raid alone, while everyone are dead, inspired me to learn the raids and I never gave up.
It can be discouraging, especially if this is your first MMOARPG.
first week of valtan the raid was very underwhelming
first week of vykas the raid was very underwhelming
first week of clown the raid was very underwhelming but the only raid we took a while to clear because one member was incapable of learning saw/hook pathing
the hardest raiding l’ve experienced was initially learning prokel and the hp breakpoints for brel g4 for surges since theres so many of them.
I understand, and I think I know why the big difference (except for possible mental differences) between us:
I’m a returning player so I didn’t have that excitement you had when you did it 1st time - I was anxious, because I knew everybody already knew the raid inside-out except me.
That changes your perspective a little bit.
Normally, if I did it on release, I’m sure I’d feel the same excitement you did and our experiences would have been more aligned.
Excitement comes with confidence and self-esteem, much more than uncertainty and fear of f**king up other people’s time
PREACH!!!
People really want it to be an MMO but it just ain’t it, let it gooooooo
Pretty much, yes.
Raids being focused on 8-players makes it difficult to find a static, where I can fit in and have fun. Finding 3 people on my wave length is difficult enough… now I have to 7 instead agfdkjashdajsd
Without static you have to deal with randoms. Randoms are a hit or miss. Since it once again is 7 additional players required, the chances of having a good experience are slim.
Quite the joy kill most of the time.
This week once again in Abrelshud G1+2. I do Prokel, 45 bars left, people outside wipe. Instant restart everyone accepting… Considering that the skull hadn’t died a single time, he must have been below 10 bars. Easy 1 minute solo fight including the 45 bars on Prokel. But nope, restart. 2nd pull, people wipe again. Instant restart, everyone presses yes. We have now lsot over 10 minutes, because people are too proud to sit still for 1 minute and think about their mistakes q.q
WoW 17+ Years
FF14 12+ Years
no room for other MMOs. Played alot other but just casual.
Switched to Main Game LA.
I don’t blame you for the Party Finder thing. Right now for the lower raids is just… LOL
I should not join an at-level Valtan lobby with 2 Relic pieces and come out with 45% damage. Also it’s uncomfortable af cuz mathematically I can’t solo ghost phase without Berserk and I’m not Asian enough to do that
That’s what you think
Cuz you haven’t tried, did you?
I’m half-joking, but if you’re like me, here’s what’s going on in your head:
Scenario 1: You’re in lobby with competent higher ilvls than you - raid is easy, you don’t even try.
Scenario 2: You’re in lobby with incompetent, probably at ilvl like you, and it’s not going well, you are their only hope. This puts pressure on you to do better, and you do, cuz you’re a lazy, intelligent campaigner who does it only when he absolutely must.
That’s my mentality and it explains hitting 45-55% on MVP screen when you’re the best, while most of the time you don’t even make it to the MVP screen cuz you don’t have to give it your best and you’re not whaled up.
Issue with this game at the core is infinite progression system (tier 3) with no resets.
EVERY single problem in this game can be tied to the progression system - RMT, bots, gatekeeping, casual enjoyment, homework, etc.
Lost ark progression system literally F tier
If you’re on iLevel, and you want to spend a lot of time waiting for a lobby - good luck. I’d rather spend that time elsewhere (work, etc.) and straight up sell crystal to get gold.
You’re most likely going to have to buy a bus until you reach an acceptable requirement for PuG. (At least full relic gear)
Aside from that, you can try to earn gold via life skills, etc. but the end game loop is just raid, chaos dungeon x2 + guardian x2, hone, rng some stone/bracelet/card pack. You will do that probably not on 1 char, but 6 char at max - depend on how much time/effort you want to sink in.
Is the game great? Yes. I think combat, visuals are all great. Does it have problems? Certainly, all games do. I think if you start now, it will be worth your time for like 3, 6 months until a new game come out.
Is it worth it to go beyond Clown? Probably not. There’s nothing new after Clown. The raid in Brel - most of the mechanics are exactly like all the previous raid you did. So if you want a good spot to say I experienced enough, that is it. Since this game is either 4 person raid or 8 person raid.
Hard to hear, but that’s the true.
thats what imwaiting for
This is an MMO? MOBA has more players in one match and they don’t claim to be an MMO
The word casual and end game never mix in any MMO. You can be a casual but you’ll always experience late game further behind than anyone else. Simply, you’ll likely get pushed into that content eventually at your own pace. But at that point most people remaining in MMO’s enjoy late game and aren’t that casual. So your only options tend to be learning parties and busses. You don’t have to do either if your geared well enough you’ll find a party on the weekends easily.
Abyss dungeons aren’t much, usually 1 and done, or for cards. That’s content most don’t enjoy, because it’s replaced by more complex raids. A MMO requires interaction at some point if you wanted to play solo don’t MMO, MMO’s have solo components but they are quick and simple and again usually one time things. If you want to grind a MMO solo, with zero interaction with progression. POE and Diablo are better options. As they will be league dominated, by season. So you can always hop on when a new one is out and grind through.
What does casual mean? Main and 2 alts? Imho lost ark is not a “casual” game. It’s balanced around playing like an hour every day or at least every other day.
Yeah I have mostly quit cause im casual, and only play when new classes come out for a bit… its sad there is no way to progress past 1400 without raids but thats the game.
If you treat it like a mobile game its not too bad. Honestly you can just log in each major patch and see what free handouts that the game decides to give out each time to keep people around.
Its kinda like genshin but has raids at least, and the gacha is honing and not waifus. XD Pick your poison.
i mean, you can still progress if u wanted, but at that point u just watch others play the game. this game really has nothing at all for casuals tbh
