KR is getting an update to DX11 next week. NA/EU launch?

I’m all for them adding QoL and engine upgrades as soon as possible - without delaying launch further. 15% loading time isn’t much but a 30% to 70% perf increase in end-game content is huge.

Same for real housing, mini-games and whatnot. But I would be okay with those coming alongside T3 content.

I’m excited and probably getting ahead of myself but part of me wonders if a big reason for the launch delay was for DX11? 30-70% FPS increase across the board is a big deal. A delay for DX11 makes sense. First impressions are huge.

I used an API wrapper called DXVK on the RU client to force the client to run as Vulkan and the difference in performance was massive. Night and day.

Vulkan is closer to DX12, DX11 doesn’t come close to DX12 / Vulkan performance level.
Also a wrapper always has overhead. DXVK is meant to play DX games on linux by using the cross platform vulkan api. It’s slower than native vulkan.

I think the delay is about missing tutorial video translations, bugs and whatnot they still have to correct. The westernization is not fully done either.

You’re probably right but I’m huffing hopium right now

Me too, I live on this shit. Huff hopium but prepare for the worst

This time I will install lost ark in my M.2, I hope this increases the load time of the game, 3500MB/s should help, at least, I hope.

and yes, 50% in overall FPS increase is huge, I hope we get that as soon as possible.

Increases the loading speed, decreases the load time you mean. I’m messing with you sorry ^^

To be honest I’m not sure you’re gonna see a difference between M2 SSD and SATA SSD regarding Lost Ark. It’s more about loading plenty of small files jumping around (so response time matters more than sequential read speed). Then the game needs to set-up the pipeline for rendering which takes more time - this is where DX11 makes an entrance.

You could benefit from it the first time you launch the game though, but not much when you’re moving from an area to another one.

It’s good they’re updating to D11, it’s exciting because it could lay the foundation for a possible upgrade to Unreal 4 or even 5 in the future. Blade and Soul just did it and that game is nowhere near as successful as Lost Ark and it hasn’t even come out in the West yet.

Yes PLS, that would be so niceeee. @Roxx, can u get that info for us pls? :3

I’ll just say this - our release having DX11 would be amazing and should be attempted to be prioritized as one of the most important add-ons for our release specifically.

Here’s to Roxx doing her best to make this happen, but I won’t get mad if it doesn’t work out.

Just cross our fingers and hopium for the best :relaxed:.

“Tout arrive a qui sait attendre.”
Everything happened for people that know how to wait.

The most important part of the DX11 is the Abrelshud raid. This raid cost a lot, and I hope we will get the DX11 way before that. Also, before Smilegate announced the DX11 patch, noone cares about this because the global performances were already great – except for main cities.

It should be “Everything comes to he who waits”. But I’m french and nitpicking :stuck_out_tongue:

:stuck_out_tongue: I’m not that good in English, it’s been a while.

oh, I hope that’s not the translation because that would be truly awful saying.

Only death awaits people who only wait for things to come to them. Do people in France really wait until a wife comes to them? A good job? Children becomes valuable part of society? Consequences of migration goes away? Just waiting for better tomorrows with a cheerful saying

Here we at least say something that would translate like: “patience brings roses” which could fit here. So I really hope that the same meaning just got lost in translation

There’s context. It’s a proverb.

The proverb “all things come to those who wait” means if people are persistent and patient, they will finally achieve their goal.

Persistent and patient.

It’s not just french, it’s also a US / English proverb.

You deduced waiting as the only thing being done. It never says that. It just says you need patience to work toward your goals and not rush.

That was my thought too.

I’m looking forward to DX11 and believe it should be prioritized highly.

I don’t believe this should be prioritized at the expense of the specified launch day.

I think there’s a very good chance for it to come faster than other content. DX11 is the rendering layer of the game engine, which should not be coupled with the gameplay itself. So adding it to any build should be easy enough.

ofc it shouldn’t. But it’s a good metric of how much delay the technical updates take before they spread to other regions. And to extend… comparison to ours.
