TL; DR: Please make a one-time, non-reusable, two-year time limit coupon that will allow a player to transfer the gear from the highest ilvl character in their roster to one other character in their roster.
The reasoning for this is simple. With a large amount of the population still waiting for their “main class” (i.e. scouter, summoner, artist, etc), there are many people who will refuse to invest significant time or energy into the game until they can play the class they want to play.
This suggestion helps fix this problem, benefiting both the playerbase and the dev team significantly. The players will be encouraged and incentivized to play and invest into their current characters, to put gold, time, and etc. into raids and gear, with the knowledge that they will be able to transfer all their hard work to their “true main” when it is released. The devs will face significantly less player complaints about “still waiting for ‘x’ class”, and will see better playtime stats, server population, etc… It’s a simple solution that is unlikely to be misused, because the one time nature encourages it to be used only when switching to a true main, and because it is not a gear “copy” there won’t be complaints about abuse to greatly increase roster ability. It will not make anything overpowered or broken but will just allow people to shift which roster character is their main. The two year time limit should allow all mains to come out, even with an every-two-month schedule. This should not break any future class updates coming out, either. The people maxing out a roster will still continue to make just as many alts, and there will be no major shifts in power or play from these people.
So I’ll summarize the pros and cons simply: Pros: Happier playerbase Higher playtime and investment from people still waiting for their class, while not decreasing the return of players that comes with new classes Higher revenue (from players, from advertising, and from sponsors) Simple, low-effort solution with almost no misuse potential Less complaints; happier devs Players rewarded for current effort in-game Server population increase/continuance Better class split in raid groups (not all composed of the latest “main”) Easier time finding raid groups; not “spacing out” the population (splitting where there are veterans way ahead, and new players waaaay behind) Avoiding the creation of “ghost raids” that no one runs except overgeared ‘bus’ parties for the new players coming in etc. etc.
Cons: A few extra support tickets from the people who used the coupon on the wrong roster character; easily reversible Potential for someone to try to exploit a coding error in the creation of this coupon …and that’s basically all the cons.
Please consider adding this!!! Thank you for your time.
Edit: if you are interested, please let me know if you would like some potential logistical details. Thank you!
Or the publisher is artificially holding back on classes to release them as “content update” while the class has been out for a long time already in other geos…
Realistically there should be a hyper express event for new class release and if you know you main is coming up, saving mats for a month in addition to whatever power pass and express event should juice that char right up to latest content.
Yeah and game has been out in KR for 4 years and RU for over 2 years. Your entire argument is so invalid. You already have 2y+ content in 6 months but you complain and just want more
I think you misinterpret my observation as a complain, but hey it’s the internet
Depending on how you view things, one can argue that classes are not actual “content” but just the tools to clear the actual content (such as the raids, story and so on), as such they should be made available so that people that are plaining to main those classes can fully invest in those instead of playing temporary classes or not playing at all.
Also the argument that the game has been released for x years elsewhere and as such we should always be forever years behind is moot and not a necessity (see other KR games that were ported to the west 4+ years later, some caught up fast), the goal for a global released game is to catch up eventually to KR and just be maybe 3-6 month late. At this pace and while KR gets new classes also (slower of course) it will take a while to have a somewhat unified state as was the goal initially stated from the (former) director.
Vertical content pacing is important (raids, bosses, story …). Are class actual content or just a mean to offer gameplay diversity and an mean to clear the content is another debate i think… But looks like for AGS classes are content.
Nice mental gymanstics. Claiming the publisher is “artificially” withholding content sprouted from the furthers corners of your own mind with 0 anchor to reality when in fact we’re getting content released in hyper speed vs other regions and you yet just complain and fault them because YOU think something is bad and think YOU are a voice for the entire LA community. You can’t even think outside your narrow field of view of what YOU want and assume everyone sees everything exactly like you and think like you. You making up stuff to validate your opinion is just copium overload. Get real.
I honestly dont think AGS thinks classes are content. It seems to me that they understand how much people are willing to invest into a class to get it to the latest content and how much effort(or money) it can take. So they hold it back so it becomes harder and harder for people who want to do that. This makes it so those people will spend more time(and/or money) in the game to enjoy that class. But thats just my doomer take.
But they are artificially withholding content. Is there a reason why we shouldn’t have all the classes by now(maybe not the specialist)? Is there a reason why we are getting clown 1 month later than when all the other regions got it?(Maybe for this one)
Yeah, that makes sense (that AGS doesn’t consider classes content, and that they want more people to spend time/money on new classes). I’ve heard lots of people with the same mentality, and from what we have received in communication from AGS, that seems to follow.
A consideration on that line of thought which I wanted to pass on to AGS is as follows:
That the idea that “spreading out classes is more profitable” is false, because of how games and people work.
People want to play the class they like. If you don’t get to play the class you like, you stop playing, wait to play, or play half-heartedly, saving up all your mats for the class you actually want. You are more likely to burn out with content that you are “not interested in” (because you can’t play it how you want), and the game is more likely to develop “ghost content”, where certain raids are mostly vacant or filled with one class, because no one else but the latest group needs that raid or content. There is a lot more reasoning for this, but for brevity’s sake I’ll just leave it with that.
On the other hand, when people have real reason to play the game often/continuously NOW because they will still be making progress on their future class that they really want to play, they will be more likely to find a group, stick with it, and be supported by their group and friends throughout play, and not be segmented or burnt out due to the pain of re-rolling from the beginning.
At least that’s my thought, and hopefully a mod or someone will at least consider it for long enough to pass it on.
What do you think? How can we reason to them to show them that it is both short and long-term profitable to let people use a coupon like the one I suggested? Or do you think there is a similar but better idea to allow people to build up to the class they actually want to play?
