so whether its Valtan or Vykas i am met with constant discrimination. PUGs are grueling I get it but what I don’t understand is what my roster level has to do with anything? so what? I basically play 1 character, I excel at it greatly and use the others for gold farming. I have no interest in most of the available classes. I am a sorcerer wearing the nightmare set, you know the armor that’s rewarded for constantly clearing these 2 raids.
I know the mech’s of both raids but unless I apply for a learning group and teach them how to win its not possible to clear each week unless I am lucky with groups. The toxicity is cancerous. I was blown away to be accepted into a reclear group, which to my understanding is having previously cleared the content. Started the raid and before reaching the teleport "wait he’s roster XX, proceeds to vote quit and I am banished from the raid before I can say anything. So that’s it? achieving high roster level is the invisible requirement to partake in group finder raid groups?
I am solo oriented I’m used to having harder time since my friends don’t play the game as much as I do and I’m good with it. I am all good with a slower pace and helping others I’ve got the patience for it but damn if this is all the end game is its just pathetic.
Because there is an implied mindset that if you are low roster level, not setup according to a predefined build or not above and beyond the recommended requirements you are bad at the game, got carried to get your set and are a liability to take on the run.
It’s stupid, but that is why anyone planning to stick with the game longterm is far better off joining your servers discord, finding a guild and a static/semi static group of players so that you can actually enjoy running the raids, not just be frustrated by other people.
Na, I’m solo oriented, too and very casual. No guild, no discord or anything and still going on Pugs and creating learning party sometimes for newcomers in Legion-Raid.
It was really a bad apple, that OP picked.
I pug a lot as well, my main runs with a static and my 2 Vykas alts typically pug Valtan/vykas. Generally I have good luck as well, the above advice is mostly for those who find themselves in these situations more often than they should.
You didn’t tell us if you are talking about normal raids or hard mode raids, it makes a difference. I’m gonna assume you are talking about normal raids. Anyway here are my thoughts.
Would you prefer to recruit someone who has done Vykas raid x100 times or someone who has done it x5? x100 times means they have bunch of alts they run Vykas with, so therefore they are more experienced and have a higher roster level, naturally.
Also, by this time, Vykas/Valtan normal is considered alt-range characters only and so you are competing for a spot with people who have done this raid a lot more than you have with just your one main character. Naturally everyone is gonna prefer the high roster player rather than the low one, because people with alts can recognize other people who do the raid with their own alts (High roster level, 12-12 engravings, good gear, correct and optimal stats, lvl7+ gems from duplicate characters).
If i were you and I didn’t have the time for alts, I would pimp my main character as much as possible (although I don’t know how you can do that without a proper amount of geared alts, I guess if you are patient enough?) and I would secure a position in a static group, by finding a guild, or by making my own group. The least I would do is get BiS gear and have my engravings sorted out, especially if you are talking about hard mode.
Yes higher roster level will make it easier for you to join any raid as long as you have good gear too, so increase your roster level too if you are planning to pug for the rest of the game. It’s just how it works!
Now I remember from the last week. I created a learning party for Gate 2 Vykas on Normal.
There was one guy with full relic set, all relic accesoires and ilevel 1460.
I thought at first, he wants to assist.
But I was surprised, he was clueless about the mechs, not even a minor. I never checked his roster lvl.
It was one time, I encountered that kind of - maybe the people, you joined, had too many encountered like that and that made them bitter.
if i dont know how you play before playing with you.
Higher roster > lower roster
Higher ILVL > lower ILVL
5x3 > 4x3
lv7gems > lv5-6gems
LWC > HP SET
Of course no one would know how good you are till actually raiding with you but being more geared = more time vested into your characters theremore most likely being more knowledgeable.
If u have low roster but have the title Vykas’s Succubus then you’ll get into groups coz that proves u killed Vykas 20+ times. But if u are expecting to get into groups with no gatekeep then no, re run groups aren’t interested in taking every random then deciding who to kick after every mech, complete waste of time.
But of course if the game introduced DPS meters/parsing we’d not have this problem, just show a parse to prove you aren’t useless.
Is this your first time playing pve in an mmo? Pve players are hardcore gatekeepers. The struggle of getting into m+ as a warlock in wow. Or any class besides mesmer and warrior in a dungeon at gw2 launch. Lost ark is not an exception.
For me, IDC about your roster level at all, because I am only 110 and that is apparently low.
I do get mad when I specifically typed NO WEI CHEESE in the title because heck I need to wait 3 min for wei each time (Often I don’t get to see wolf invasion) and pug just cant do it.
Like ffs it is one of the easiest mechanic in the game.
you’re looking to see if a person is qualified by looking at his irrelevant volunteeer work and l couldn’t care less that someone did some useless filler so their resume is 2 pages instead of 1
If you have a high roster it means you play more characters then it means you play more raids and then you have more experience it makes you much better at every raid that’s why people choose a high level over someone low level I believe it
In my experience the reason, why people want you to be a “god like player”, is because they know they suck at the game and need you to carry them.
I am not even exaggerating.
The other day I did Valtan Hard on a 2-Set Nightmare alt, in a group of 1460-1505 6-Set Relic players. I did 30% of the damage, and kept getting insulted and flamed for “not dealing enough damage” and “being bad at the game”.
Try to find a static, if you can. Or even better, a guild on your level, so that you can avoid pugging as much as possible. It is horrible and destroys the game experience.
