This is how we all see our party mates in raids. In a raid it makes sense its like this so we don’t end up getting flashbanged by our igniter sorc friend or have our eyes burned out by a nuke obsessed artillerist. Its always bothered me though how our raid friends end up looking like mimes in a bad improv show.
My suggestion is to add an opacity slider like the one we have for our companions but instead of fading out the companion it fades out the effects of our party mates. That way we can still make out whats going on in the raid but also feel like we’re all fighting together and appreciate the fantastic animations that every class has.
It might not seem like a big deal but to me immersion is really important in a game I invest a lot of time into. Its one other thing that makes me appreciate the effort thats gone into designing and animating each class.
Curious if anyone else feels the same way or if its just me
Yeah if it impacts performance on slower pcs then its not really a good choice. guess It could be done in a way so when the opacity is increased it reduces the detail as well which could improve performance.
That’s why i think different levels of opacity that can be chosen by the player would be of great benefit. Also I don’t think the players effects are all to blame here as well. In some instances in raids the boss itself literally tries to blind us with effects making things harder than they normally would be. Brelshaza being a big culprit for this, in those cases I think those effects should just be toned down. We should be finding a raid challenging due to the difficulty, not because we can’t see whats going on in my opinion.
I’m glad you can do that. I tried but found if I was on a team with effects heavy classes like sorc or arti it made the raid unnecessarily more difficult for me. If I could just lower these effects it would be so much better for me.
Even Brelshaza? G4 and G6 come to mind. I mean it could be that I just get easily affected but it definitely seems like these ones in particular are hard to make out at certain points compared to earlier raids like Valtan and Vykas.
I do agree in general it is very clear and telegraphed when a boss starts a certain mechanic or attack. The times I’m talking about are usually in the middle of said mech/attack when the screen is filled with effects. The exploding floors at the end of Brel G4 or when Brelshaza chains attacks on top of mechs and her effects are layered on top of aoe’s. These are the ones that spring to mind. I know with practice you can learn to make out the differences but I just feel like it could be made more clearer which would help newer players or those who struggle seeing them.
yup even brel
the only gate that doesn’t do telegraphs well is g3 and g5
all the issues in g5 are fixed in g6
g3 has a telegraphing issue but it is mended by the initial hits not being lethal and backloading the power of the hit
meaning that if you do decide to stay in the pattern it will hurt but you have plenty of time to exit without losing a noticable amount of hp
it’s also a matter of practice and playing with intent
the more you look at the mechanics the better you get at recognizing the patterns early and pre positioning or preparing to position
I wouldn’t mind that option. But i play with effecs on.
Coming from something like FFXIV - the top down perspective is a joy in terms of visibility of mechanics even with effecs.
