Long Term Sustainability and Burn Out
AltoHolic is the word to define this game, the game model tends people to create more characters and therefore consuming more and more time doing dailies, weeklies and raids.
Until 6 characters, every raid activity has a big net worth gain to your account in general, but if dedicated people want to play more than 6, they will actually only add daily activities for your net worth gain and not feel reward to play more.
The initial months were amazing when you had time to explore horizontal content, vertical content and few chars to play (waiting stronghold research to push), but now our time is only spend doing “Homework” and Raids, even if you do rested homework, you still sacrifice a significant gameplay time to do boring stuff, but you need keep doing to progress what tends to burn out faster.
I understand AGS points that homework force/incentive people to play every day, what is fine to me, but weekly content becoming homework to earn net worth and stay ahead or over the curve is major long term problem that lead to no new players.
Bus Services, New/Returning Players and Gate Keeping
Personally I dislike bus culture at all, but I don’t blame people using it, because supply demand rules everything. Lets Annalise why people buy bus:
- Not enough time to do homework raid
- Not 4x3/5x3 with correct engravings/stats
- Gatekeep/low roster level
Valtan and Vykas are the source material to Relic Gear Set, therefor, homework raid. People need to do it to unlock Relic Gear Set, but they have trouble to find parties, for being most of the time low roaster level, as they are automatic labeled as new player/returning players or casual players, making they choose wait or form a learning party or buy a bus.
My Suggestion
Lost Ark Global already have the concepting of “bound gold” to fix bot and other abuses, my idea only use it to improve game quality and reduce burn out.
For now, I will use this words:
- Bound Gold: Gold that can’t be used on Market/Trade, can be used to buy bonus chest, honing and quality upgrade. Also is used before Tradable Gold.
- Tradable Gold: Multi Purpose Gold (What we have now)
1) Rework Gold Earning Limit and Raid Limit
Based on your ILvL, the most two challenging raids will reward Tradable Gold.
The most challenging reward twice the normal gold amount (reducing the gold earning raid to 2 and keep the gold generated to same amount)
You can only earn 2x Tradable Gold per char week up to 6 characters limits
Doing the third and beyond most challenging raids only reward 50%,25%,12,5%… as Bound Gold
After 6 characters limited all gold is reduced 50% and becomes Bound following the same rules.
Examples:
- ILvL 1490+, Brelshaza Normal and Kakul Saydon, rewards Tradable Gold | Vykas Hard Reward 50% as Bound Gold and Valtan Hard 25% as Bound Gold
- ILvL 1475-1489, Kakul Saydon and Vykas Hard, rewards Tradable Gold | Valtan Hard Reward 50% as Bound Gold and Argos 25% as Bound Gold
- ILvL 1460-1474, Vykas Hard and Valtan Hard, rewards Tradable Gold | Argos Reward 50% as Bound Gold and Oreha Hard 25% as Bound Gold
- ILvL 1445-1459, Valtan Hard and Vykas Normal, rewards Tradable Gold | Argos Reward 50% as Bound Gold and Oreha Hard 25% as Bound Gold
Pros:
- Reduce Homework Raids
- Incentivize Player to do Endgame raid for your ILvL
- Dedicated Players will feel reward doing Endgame content beyond 6 characters
Cons:
- Can reduce the amount of old legion runs
- Without the second idea part, bus culture will intensify
2) Bus Culture (Controversial Idea)
Legion that includes any member outside the most two challenge legion raids, make all gold earned from that party bound.
Ex: If 7x 1370~1415 doing Argos accept/invite a 1530 to your party, all gold earned for that party will be bound.
Pros:
- Busser will be able to do all raid if they want, and still earning bound gold, while passengers will use tradable gold to pay for it, earning only bound gold
- Disincentive Mult-Account to earn tradable gold as bus will only reward bound gold
- Valtan and Vykas will be more challenging on ilvl as if you want Tradable Gold you can’t be carried
Cons:
- Lobbies will need an option to filter or not allowing people that make your lobby not earning tradable gold.
- The pop up before entering legion raid need be updated to show what you can receive and if a another lobby player is transforming your Tradable Gold into Bound Gold
The numbers can be updated, is just a scratch ideia.
TLDR: Use Bound Gold as way to reduce homework raid, burn out
