Let me fix it again for you, on a bards perspective
We are the same in essence, a party actually does more DMG with a support and making the group chill since we give dmg prevention tools and heals.
IMO the reason we have a lot of ‘bad’ supports is by necessity, the game is designed with them and we are having a support shortage. Ppl are filling a demand and because they are not being gatekept they don’t care about appearances…

tbh unless he was much higher ilvl and geared than everyone else, the rest of the DPS were just really bad when you consider how weak a DPS pally is.
That says more about the other players tbh than it does about paly. Took one to brel G1-2 (he had title from brel 6 so i assume he’s a decent player) with my mates (we were curious how good dps paly is) and despite having some of the best gear in the party, he barely did any real damage.

if dps’s are allowed to be hit to max their uptime then the reverse is that supports shouldn’t be hit to max their buff uptime!
but yea dps ceiling is high on ARPG like games but usually the extra 5-10% doesn’t matter, just like magick stream pally.
The question is whether the classes are more difficult on 80-90%tile not 99-99.5%
Full yellow pally is never the play. Explosive expert is stronger than magic stream.

Yeah both of your comments this says that its not about items. Its about how you play. If you play dps while running around not doing dmg, then ofc ur dmg gonna be low.
Supports are indeed not build for dps but if they play well, they can get close to a dps character’s dps.

You got it the other way. If DPS plays badly, they can approach support dps values. No matter how good a support dps player is, he has a ceiling ha cannot pass. Ceiling that is easy to pass on a dps character, therefore a worse player on similarly geared dps character will easily outdps a support dps. Or, alternatively, similarly skilled player will easily outdps a support dps with worse gear. Eot.
This is the problem with lack of dps meter in the game and using 3rd party one being a bannable offense. We can’t even discuss this shit using real data., because people either don’t have the data or won’t admit to having it. All we can go on is “oh, is saw a dps pala get mvp and cruel figter once”. Great. And i saw a dps pala with good gear and skilled player who didn’t even make it to mvp screen (let alone getting actual mvp) in a group of trashy alts. If, hypothetically, there was an in build dps meter in the game i could tell you how pathetic his dps was. And then we could have a real discussion. Without it, it’s pointless.
I never said they can surpass dps. They can only get close. As I said, supports are not build for doing dps.
And you are missing my point. They CAN’T get close unless player playing the dps is terrible.
It’s not: sup dps can approach actual dps if he plays well.
It’s: actual dps can approach support dps if he sucks.
It’s a very important distinction.
I think you are underestimating supports’ dps there. They most absolutely can get close. Supports also have skills that does dmg u know.
Most of dps support dmg comes from relic set tho.
I mained dps before and swapped to support after vykas release. I can easily tell you that even my bad dps support build does some decent dmg if I play correctly.
Edit : Also I even saw with my own eyes they can do dmg.
Edit 2 : Also can u care to explain then how dps supports can also do bus runs then ? You claim they dont do much dmg so they shouldnt be able to carry like a normal dps class does, right ?(I never buy busses, I only know that they bus too)

As for sup dps doing busses, why would that be impossible at this point exactly? I’ve seen groups below 1475 doing Vykas HM runs, why wouldn’t an ilvl 1500+ dps paladin do it? Even more so with Valtan.
Do you have a vid of a three man group of 1475 dps paladins driving a Vykas HM bus? That would be interesting to see.
And even then, it would just go to show this game doesn’t have strict dps checks (if it had, the game would be p2w btw, hence why it doesn’t), not that dps paladins do high dps. I’ll remind you that it is possible to finish clown with one engraving. But just because something is technically possible, doesn’t mean that suddenly 1x3 dps build does great dps. It literally does not.

Not misleading. As I previously stated. My main alt is a bard. She might as well be my main. Most supports don’t really know what the heck they are doing. You can see it when they play. Situations change constantly. Intelligent people know that this game is reactive especially when you play dps. While scripted there are some fights (Brel g3) and (Kuku g2) things can get out of control fast. Like when a reaper gets combo. The smart choice would be to shield and then drop the heal so they can live, Right? Yup. So that is what they should do. Now If all your dps is around 70-90 percent hp and the bard is dropping a heal what’s the point? There isn’t one use those bars for the dps buff. It makes zero sense to be healing when that can be dps. Make more sensible choices as a support is all that I am asking for. I am not angry. As I said this isn’t meant as an attack. Too many people are getting butt hurt about something that really isn’t all that serious. If dps needs to be good at their class the same should be said about supports…
