Looking through the lens of other players... let LA be LA

The recent letter to community really shows AGS and SG realizing the impact of players leaving the game, and the importance of keeping this game alive as long as possible.

Let us all look through the lens of another players for a second. If you are a hardcore player, try to see what a casual player is thinking when trying to play this game, and vice versa.

What I am trying to say is, LA will always be LA. The core system and monetization via pheon tax, incentive to gamble via honing, inevitable mini IQ wipe mechanic, none of these are going away. Because these defines Lost Ark.

In my opinion, this game was never intended to be designed from ground up with the mind to attract and retain as much players as possible. Because the current system in place just don’t make sense if these are the goals the devs had in mind originally.,

Game like Diablo 4 on the other hand, is designed to allow mass majority of people to comfortably progress and have fun, enjoy when they want type of game. That is also why Diablo 4 is not , and never will take the same approach as PoE.

It all depends on what game you are looking for… every player is different. If LA can survive with the dedicated , heavily invested people / whales for as long as it can, kudos to the game.

if not, oh well…

My point is simple, I don’t think the game will change to a point where mass majority of the player base will be able to stick around and enjoy for a very long time for argument sake.

LA is designed to keep a small core numbers of players, regardless of what or how AGS/SG tries to bandage the surface. Because, the core system is what defines LA, that won’t ever change.

It’s a Korean mmo and most have the same system of forcing you to play 24/7, yet it’s one of the “easiest” I’ve ever played. Despite practically forcing you to play all the time, I play on average 4 hours a day and I have 5 alts that provide me with a good amount of gold and I managed to do Brelshaza hard in 4 days without static.

It’s difficult but you can keep up with the pace of the latest releases. Still, that some small tweaks like nerfing a legion raid that doesn’t even provide gold and most players ignore its existence is an interesting step. It’s a fun game but it demands a lot from us and even more from new players.

Complaining about some things is repetitive and ends up polluting the forum, but among so many toxic people, has some very interesting ideas that can be honed to make the game more fun and enjoyable

Same here ! I’m already happy to be back with my IRL friend on a video game !! I was really disappointed about the beta but it doesn’t matter ! after playing thousands of hours on LOA ! I can endure it as long as it keeps me out of that jail also called Bot Ark !

I also can’t wait till D4 comes out then the people who always say that others should quit LA or compare D4 with LA are gone then.

Casual players are not that bothered by many things in this game. The ones that usually get pissed are semi hc or hc players.
When gold nerf came as a casual i wasnt bothered that much by it since it meant more free time for me.
Casuals are more bothered by the lack of interest in horizontal content.

When i played hc style, and honed like mad and did all possible raids and card runs, ah issues bothered me, bots bothered me, horizontal content bothered me. Too many chaos and guardians bothered me. And no matter what i did it was never enough. Now i have close to 1000g and i have nothing to do with it. And i am also bot in a rush to get more.
My 9 chars ,(did 3 more dps chars just for the fun of it) have close to 2000 leapstones on them and a char has full storage with mats for honing and i wont use it.
I just like doing chaos and guardian every other day, challenge guardians and islands.

This makes sense for raiding content, but even still the game could support a large casual base of players on top of the hardcore if we could just keep them running raids and clearing at their own pace. Vykas and clown coming out at the time they did really fractured the playerbase in two and slowly pushed out the casual in favor of the dedicated.

However the worst part is this game is driven by AH and market usage because you have no way of getting a BIS accessory setup without interacting with the AH. And as more people leave these coveted accessories will become scarce, not that it particularly matters, im pretty sure even AKKAN HM could be cleared with full relic accs, the only question is will that become another metric to gatekeep others?

I agree with you. But why are we comparing Lost Ark to Diablo 4 ?

How is D4 comparable to LA? Does Diablo IV have raids?

The main highlight of lost ark is It’s combat and it’s pve - raid oriented gameplay.

Also i want to highlight this one more time. A new game’s release is always sweet and cute. But a brand new game wont have enough content for people to play as much as they did on Lost Ark, just saying. Keep your expectations realistic, have lower the bar so that you can enjoy w/e game u embark on after LA.

You guys wait for D4, but for me that game is a week thing, once the campaign is over, i put down diablo until a new expansion comes out.

Im no tof those who would play the same campaign over an dover just to get a rare drop for a set that wont change nothing of the progress of a game i have already beaten.

With LA, i can play another game at the same time, like i did Dead Space, Hogwards, RE4R, etc. Since LA is a mostly a Hourly Event Waiting Game, i can do other things in the meantime. And steam let you run other game in offline mode.
