When they released the joint statement they said the majority of players weren’t in T3 and spent more time doing horizontal content then they anticipated. I think the hole in gaming for this style of game is huge & I don’t think I’m a small minority, just average. In the long run people who aren’t rushing ilvl who enjoy the game as a whole will spend more $$ over time on skins, decorations, like skill elixir, pets, mounts + more than the content pushers who will leave in a month.
Edit - that’s my hope anyway. I think there’s room for LA to carve it’s niche with a loyal player base, they just have to sieze it & not worry about sponsored players & all
tl;dr the game either changes it’s economic model drastically or I’m worried that most of the player base will be gone within a couple months.
The problem is that you can’t change the economic model alone. That would be a complete rework. And i don’t think that is an option for Smilegate.
Sorting out problematic aspects of the core systems (which could be acheived with threads like this, but unfortunately 95% of threads in the forum are mindless complains) and adjusting them is way more likely to happen than changing the whole system.
I’ve yet to see one MMO where this is the case. MMO’s only exist in two varieties, you either RMT or inject into the game directly. It’s also hilarious when people complain about Korean games giving too much grind and now we have it out of the other side of the mouth that they’re to be respected for grinding. What happened to grinds being tedious and just a way for companies to tempt you to spend? All this post reaffirms for me is that the West is delusional.
The changes would have to be fast and the QA would have to work overtime but they could pull it off and make this a top five MMO in the West for a few years. Time will tell.
huh Breshelza is 25-30 mins at 1600+ with everyone having ONLY Meta builds with all their Correct cards For example the “Light of Salvation” set you’ll want all 6 cards with a 18 piece Awakening at a minimum.
Merely stating the 20 mins just isn’t entirely true you’re forgetting our inexperience as well if you really think we are going to jump into these 20 or even 30 min boss fights and get them done in that time frame you’re delusional lets not forget Breshelza as an Example 28 Billion HP, 27 Unique Attacks a couple of Group wipe mechanics and you seem to think the player base is going to get it done… More then 95% of player base have yet to Complete a guardian raid without anyone in the team dying so if you think you’re going to be spending 20 mins and no more then that, I’d check your ale because I think it’s been spiked.
You said Lost Ark won’t float in the West…that’s a general statement for everyone in the West. I am in the west, and I’m fine.
I was just trying to be less aggressive and emotional so I edited the title a couple times. Nonetheless I’m proud of your ability to live on this hemisphere I guess? Not sure what you’re getting at.
Hmm. I think with time it will settle down. The KR playerbase doesn’t want big item level increases as they like getting to a point and then staying there.
I think we will see some grumpiness when the average forum user doesn’t understand +25 is optional. That there are some “whale bait” systems that you can just ignore.
A large issue is communication and knowledge really. Argos is a great example of this. They released this knowing that the team saw it as a stepping stone content. A nice extra weekly clear for those who are there. But the Western audience saw the word RAID and were mad. I wasn’t mad because I knew in the grand scheme of the game it didnt matter that I wasn’t there, but I think they could struggle going forward if they don’t find a way to communicate properly going forward.
In conclusion I don’t think the system needs to change, I think communication should change.
I do think you are mostly right. I personally am still enjoying the game (mostly) but my friend group has mostly quit for the reasons you indicated above. To be fair, most of that group (10 of us, 2 of us left) have families and careers, etc. Somehow they had time for wow and progressed pretty high level and played for a decade or more. However, they don’t have time or patience or financial motivation to sink into LA. The progression paths didn’t do it for them and thus they have left. Sucks for me and my remaining friend but it is what it is.
Of course this is a super small sample and likely not representative of the mass playerbase in any statistical model but I would assume there are at least some in similar situations. In the end, they (not me so don’t come for me) stated that the game just wasn’t made/intended for them.
Not sure what they will do now.
what game are you playing. Lost ark to just progress vertically takes the least amount of your time compared to any other mmo. You can literally play for an hour or two and be done for the day.
Thank you for the insightful and contributive response. I think yeah, ultimately if you want to keep progressing vertically at a steady rate after Tier 3, it definitely becomes a niche game. Still fun for me mostly because of chaos dungeons and alts and having too much time, but I just know that when more people Tier 3 honing they’ll wander off. You know what that’s okay, I just think this games combat is just too good to stop playing for now.
Thanks for the reply I appreciate someone compliment my writing instead of trashing it :’) made me feel a bit better this morning. Maybe things will improve now that the AGS president stepped down. Who knows.
The community talks a lot about how much better reactions are to civilized posts, yet bait posts fly to the moon. Have a lovely day and again thank you for reading my content. ![]()
The problem is your definition of “relevant”. Gold River doesn’t try to dethrone or replace shit. He just out to offer the western players who like this kind of game and progression (either through time or money) a game which they can stay in and enjoy. Because God knows we don’t need more “we give you everything yesterday” kind of MMO like they are made in NA/EU.
Don’t get me started on the glorification of Gold River or SGR. Did you don’t know their other game CrossFire is the most popular game in world? Did you also know it completely tanked in the West despite their “best efforts”?
Because they’re terrible at Western adaptations, and have a track record to prove it.
Gold River does not care about you. The other regions don’t have a fantasy land better version like most of this community clings to, they just have a vastly different gaming culture. What they tried to do is portray him as a YoshiP, they took it right from ARR’s playbook and completely missed the entire point: follow-up and speaking to the community directly.
So what? This is not the case for Lost Ark.
Oh, he does care about me or actually gamers like me to be fair. The ones who want a grind AND the option to spend bucks on skins as soon as they are out
We “float” his visions. Yeah, I don’t use money to hone but well whatever. He just doesn’t care for gamers like the “usual western” ones shrug
You do you, but don’t assume things for others like “all this all that won’t float is bah”. I wish we had games like the Towers from the Manhwas. Thaaaat would fuck most western gamers up XD
What is not the case for Lost Ark, Western failure? That remains to be seen. It’s losing a lot of players. I don’t want it to fail in the same way CrossFire did, but it doesn’t look good and the director is not talking to us. Neither is the studio head of AGS in fact, he quit yesterday.
It’s not his job. Not everything will be catered to your specific needs. He is the one deciding what is a failure for him and his company. Not you. Not these 3k-5k forums warriors (yeah I know I’m one of them too, even though on the other side of the barricade). And most certainly not some loud money-grabbing streamers. He already said what he sees as a win and we are a lot above that.
As long as you hadn’t the option to stand there while they discussed why he is gone, you have no idea why and if it was correlated to SMG at all. Why do people assume everything revolves around something they are invested on hating right now?
I don’t know if you’re on the other side. I do think that your faith in SGR and Amazon is misguided, but we both want the game to succeed.
GW2 and FFXIV have more players doing story and horizontal “progression” than trying to get new gear through raids and compete at the highest PvE level, completely destroying your argument.
