Lost Ark won't float in the West

Get to 1400 and you have access to all the Argos raids. After that there’s not much point increasing your gear score as the content for 1400+ isn’t in the game yet and after the negative feedback received I don’t think it will be for at least another month. So yeah, you can just save your materials and focus on getting the best engravings/cards getting mokoko seeds whatever you want - it’s a game just play the game and have fun

I think you’re on the wrong track. You assume everyone wants to be max ilvl on the bleeding edge of content. There are games for that. LA shines in it’s horizontal content & appeal to casual activities like teaching animals to talk or tracking down masterpieces while skinning rabbits & digging up treasure while wearing a chicken costume being followed by a pink mokoko. There’s more than one way to play. Swiping seems the least fun.

I tend to overthink everything but one takeaway I have is that the payment model won’t last when people close the tier 2-3 gap. Player drop-off will, within my projections, be astronomical.

I mean if I was Musk or Gates or something I’d do both, but yeah I agree with the horizontal stuff. lol

…but I am on the right track as far as consumers who play MMO’s for vertical progression, which in the Western Hemisphere, most of them. You are an exception to a rule.

To be honest with you, it’s a free to play game and if there wasn’t so much hype or fomo around. Can you just imagine how the forums would be? Just people exploring the new systems and collecting collectibles. As it is we’ve had months of people with knowledge of every version of the game pushing that 4 years of experience on new players. Which has just made people miserable because they feel they need to compare or compete. I honestly hope one day people will stop having nightmares about the honing screen and just enjoy the fucking game

Pvp solved all this im at 1350 not giving a fuck about gear and having a blast in the arena doing honing once a week with mats and getting 1 or 2 upgrades

Most of these problems are erected because the amount of cognitive bias on that happens on forums or social media that their progression level is probably the same as your average player. The average player like you’ve said before just opens the game, plays a few hours and stops and it can be a great thing in your life.

But those people are affected now primarily by influencers and sponsored players who burn through content VERY quickly and when they stop, they move to another game, one with hype. This is how the MMO community works. What I’m trying to tell people is while this was a great one it will not be a very long stop, most people will be gone in the next five months.

This post just described an mmorpg. A game genre that needs your time and for those that wish to, your money as well

You know very well that it’s a spectrum not a binary and some are more predatory than others. You don’t need a 200iq to tell the payment model for Lost Ark is like a throwaway phone game when it deserves better.

I’m not 100% disagreeing with you but what your post started out as and what you’re stating now are not the same thing. Your initial post was a strange pity party for whales and now what you’re saying is a little more reasonable and not the wild rantings of a lunatic

Yeah that’s just who I am as a person. Plus, conversations are always better than thread openings. Those are just calls to attention. I’ll say one thing, this thread is keeping people in the discussion, and I do appreciate that.

I stopped updating the OP because I realized the meat of the thread is in the replies.

When they released the joint statement they said the majority of players weren’t in T3 and spent more time doing horizontal content then they anticipated. I think the hole in gaming for this style of game is huge & I don’t think I’m a small minority, just average. In the long run people who aren’t rushing ilvl who enjoy the game as a whole will spend more $$ over time on skins, decorations, like skill elixir, pets, mounts + more than the content pushers who will leave in a month.
Edit - that’s my hope anyway. I think there’s room for LA to carve it’s niche with a loyal player base, they just have to sieze it & not worry about sponsored players & all

tl;dr the game either changes it’s economic model drastically or I’m worried that most of the player base will be gone within a couple months.

The problem is that you can’t change the economic model alone. That would be a complete rework. And i don’t think that is an option for Smilegate.

Sorting out problematic aspects of the core systems (which could be acheived with threads like this, but unfortunately 95% of threads in the forum are mindless complains) and adjusting them is way more likely to happen than changing the whole system.

:joy: :joy: :joy: I’ve yet to see one MMO where this is the case. MMO’s only exist in two varieties, you either RMT or inject into the game directly. It’s also hilarious when people complain about Korean games giving too much grind and now we have it out of the other side of the mouth that they’re to be respected for grinding. What happened to grinds being tedious and just a way for companies to tempt you to spend? All this post reaffirms for me is that the West is delusional.

The changes would have to be fast and the QA would have to work overtime but they could pull it off and make this a top five MMO in the West for a few years. Time will tell.

huh Breshelza is 25-30 mins at 1600+ with everyone having ONLY Meta builds with all their Correct cards For example the “Light of Salvation” set you’ll want all 6 cards with a 18 piece Awakening at a minimum.

Merely stating the 20 mins just isn’t entirely true you’re forgetting our inexperience as well if you really think we are going to jump into these 20 or even 30 min boss fights and get them done in that time frame you’re delusional lets not forget Breshelza as an Example 28 Billion HP, 27 Unique Attacks a couple of Group wipe mechanics and you seem to think the player base is going to get it done… More then 95% of player base have yet to Complete a guardian raid without anyone in the team dying so if you think you’re going to be spending 20 mins and no more then that, I’d check your ale because I think it’s been spiked.

You said Lost Ark won’t float in the West…that’s a general statement for everyone in the West. I am in the west, and I’m fine.

I was just trying to be less aggressive and emotional so I edited the title a couple times. Nonetheless I’m proud of your ability to live on this hemisphere I guess? Not sure what you’re getting at.

Hmm. I think with time it will settle down. The KR playerbase doesn’t want big item level increases as they like getting to a point and then staying there.

I think we will see some grumpiness when the average forum user doesn’t understand +25 is optional. That there are some “whale bait” systems that you can just ignore.

A large issue is communication and knowledge really. Argos is a great example of this. They released this knowing that the team saw it as a stepping stone content. A nice extra weekly clear for those who are there. But the Western audience saw the word RAID and were mad. I wasn’t mad because I knew in the grand scheme of the game it didnt matter that I wasn’t there, but I think they could struggle going forward if they don’t find a way to communicate properly going forward.

In conclusion I don’t think the system needs to change, I think communication should change.
