Wow just what we need, a video about bots! And more ideas that won’t work!
Which ideas did you not like?
WELP, another video over 10 minutes and adds nothing. I’m glad I run ad block.
You stated you know nothing of coding and pointed out the obvious that bots move in certain patterns. It’s obvious that you think the anti cheat would be looking for that, but it’s not that black and white.
Hiring GMs would do nothing. It would take hundreds, if not a thousand GMs to sift through the 150k-200k bots. That’s not something any company would do. Yes, annoying for the bots, but I’m sure bot farms have several thousands of backup accounts ready to go if their accounts get banned. Would it do something short term? Yes. Long term, no…because the bots would just spring back up and be 50 in a day, back to doing what they do. I would assume they would change their farming strategies as well if that were the case as well.
As far as Captcha goes, that would just be an annoyance to bot farmers, but wouldn’t stop anything.
The only thing that stops bots is multi tier authentication, which NA would NEVER go for.
People want results, they just aren’t willing to sacrifice their ID/Number for said results, leading to AGS/Smilegate making scorched earth trials on the bots, pissing off people.
You can’t have it both ways. They either try stuff and people get inconvenienced, or they do nothing at all…and we just play Bot Ark the rest of the game’s life cycle.
Actually the simplest method is to give power to players to undercut whatever the bot is selling.
For example:
Put a limit on fish price at minimum of 5 gold, this way bots will always try to sell and undercut players, but the lowest gold value is staying at 5g no matter what.
If that’s the case, players can then imitate trade on their own → 4g, effectively the bot who hold gold or these items become worthless on the market.
Having volunteer players to keep an eyes out is also a good method, if they abused their power, real players can send in proof and get un-ban. Would it require additional work? Yes but you need community help to combat the bot.
They are not going to sit and re-create bots if 50-100 is banned per day from just 1 volunteer doing the work in exchange for a weekly blue crystal pay.
Adding captcha will not stop the bot, but it will slow them down. It is not going to interfere with player interaction to the game.
Our community is sitting at 400,000 players, bot is 150,000. Give power to the players and the bot will not be able to fight back.
All of this required AGS and SG to do, which I don’t think they will.
I’d like for all materials from the chaos dungeons and to some extension guardian raids to be roster bound only tier 1-3. Increase gold rewards from abyss dungeons and abyss raids, since bots aren’t usually complex enough to do harder mechanics for the most part, Flat decrease the honing cost by 50%. Get rid of mailing to other players and tack a high tax on items that are over 100k gold more than the next price on AH(since the more expensive the item the more the tax rate). I know some people like to transfer gold to alts, I think 100k or lower per transaction should be enough to transfer gold and not suffer huge taxes. I know the latter only slows bots down and doesn’t outright stop the rmt but the less money the bots make the better in my opinion
Hope some of these are viable, but who know’s
They can completely remove the honing gold cost T1-T2. Also remove all the gold from T1-T2 rewards as well. This mean as long as you are playing, collecting you will be able to progress to T3.
There’s no need to remove mail gold if there’s a minimum price cap in the market. For example, T1 materials is 1 gold right now - give players the ability to trade these to each other or setup their own shop at a city (already in the game via mail COD or direct trade). However, lock this minimum at say 3g (3x the value) then no matter what the bot want to do, they have to compete with players selling it for less than 3g.
This is importance because if you were a seller - you don’t want to sit and wait and compete with 200,000 items from bot, you can find some buyer for your items instead. As a buyer - of course we will all want the cheapest rate as possible.
It is not a fool proof method because some people will still buy from the bot, but at least de-value the gold to some extent and limit the ways gold is generated from bot selling items in the market.
I completely agree with upgrading gold reward from raiding - bots will not be able to do those mechanics.
Also like to add while I’m at it, remove the time stamp on items on AH items as well. This way there is no guarantee the bot will buy the right item off AH, especially if multiple people match the same price
If they can’t remove the bot problem, they will have a dead game.
Get rid of the auction house, make everything roster bound, and just have everything bound to your characters.
Give artisan energy to assessories, so you can build it up to the point where you can select a stat or engraving. Same with stones.
Basically take the economy out of the game, so you can’t buy gold. It would become a single player economy. They’ll never do this, but that’s about what you have to do at this point, if the bots have a work around for everything else.
