Matchmaker is the main reason why nobody plays PvP

Disregard the terrible class balance where some classes have all the super armor and mobility while others have none, the matchmaker complete inability to make balanced matches is the biggest reason why most people who try pvp never come back.

Each week the pvp tables have less and less people, on my server the amount of people on the server points leaderboard has gone down %75 from where it was 2 months ago, making it ridiculously hard to level up the shop (the pvp shop leveling system is another can of terrible worms).

They should have data on which classes overperform in pvp, so it shouldn’t just throw 3 of those vs 3 classes that barely have anyone on the top 100 and probably have deep negative win rate average.

Full premades should be made to wait longer, at least a reasonable amount of time trying to find another premade to pit it against, instead of the first bunch of randos it finds, this is particularly bad in co-op pvp due to the guild quest, since the player pool for this mode is so small, a single guild can make the mode borderline unplayable to people who queue solo given the guild will likely stack the most bs classes in this mode.

Then you get into competitive mode and the pool of players is so small that someone who is bronze gets thrown into plat/master games, but matchmaker for everyone involved would not go above 3 or 4 minutes.

PvP is so dead that the rewards were bugged for an entire week and almost nobody noticed, they just quietly fixed it and sent some compensation.

While they should strive to make the classes at least somewhat balanced fixing the matchmaker would go a long way on making pvp slightly less of a crapshow than it is now, and maybe some more people would stick around, as it is right now.

Agree on ranked pvp

Hard disagree. The less people that play the more Easy it is to be a higher % to jump to the next class. The % depends on how much you play compared to the other guys. Team elimination pops really fast.

Agree if they made GMs wait longer there would be moe ppl playing ranked. Gold and silver going against GMs is a pretty doubtful mm

If there are 40k people and most of those just did pvp for the weekly quest, it pushes the amount of matches needed to get high % much lower, if the board has 300 people then you need to fight for the first 20 spots in the table just to maintain supreme 8. There being more people means more people who only did the bare minimum pushing everyone else up.

Honestly I think PvP in all MMO’s is on the decline. Sure, class balance is always an issue in any game but the reality is that most PvP players are kind of jerks. I think people just get burned out on the toxic atmosphere of it all. Even in pug matches you see people yelling and screaming as if they expect to be in a premade or something.

In the end the players kill PvP more than the game does in my opinion.

The main reason I’m not playing it is because the rewards are bugged and I haven’t gotten any currency for around 2 weeks.

So true. Tried pvp once and swore to never do it again. It’s not fun. The game just kept pairing me with hardcore pvp pros that one shot me before I even walked out of the spawn. It was miserable and disheartening. I can’t learn to get better at pvp while being r*ped by pvp pros at top tier who do nothing but pvp.

The main reason is the horrible stun-lock PvP. Losing control of your character for large amounts of time isn’t enjoyable to most people. So many games have tried to cut down on CC-chaining over the years or add counterplay to it, yet in Lost Ark, you have to watch your character get tossed around like a muppet for eight seconds if anything touches you.

the actual main reason is because most people have quit and playernumbers are inflated by bots.

You should join them.

Matchmaking is terrible.

But this idea about stun locking is spot on. It’s ridiculous how much you can get stunned and not do anything about it. It’s all about picking skills that stuns and super armor.
