My friend uses a VPN just to not get disconnected; now what?

I understand that. I feel bad he can’t use his vpn anymore along with everyone else. I’m just saying their has to be another solution to this problem

Ye spectrum isn’t the best either sadly but i would contact them again and see if they can manage something. I wonder if they actually have done any conclusive tests or anything seems odd for them to just say theres no routing issues when there clearly is one.

Agreed.

My friends and I all desperately want to volunteer as Bot Banners. Other games have either paid employee’s and/or volunteers that spend some time everyday in game following bots around and banning them in real time (no dumb ban waves). I’ve seen it in both Lineage 2 and ArcheAge, don’t know why Amazon refuses to do the same.

I guess la has waaaay more bots and u need full time gms to ban all of them xDDD
They come Sometimes with the whole family about 100 berz every minute

And u ban real berzerkers sometimes who will complain

The resolution here is actually to use a VPN. ISP companies don’t give a damn if a handful of people are disconnecting to a video game. They aren’t going to change their routing over that, especially if they know they are the only [decent] provider in your area. The only solution in these cases is to find your own solution (a VPN) or wait (months, years) until it eventually gets fixed when a bigger issue comes up.

anyone with half a brain knows this is just a minor setback for botters. They will find a way back on to the servers, and only legitimate players will suffer. However, Id be surprised if they remove vpn blockers since a CM stated it was against their ToS.

Edit: for players that just scroll past official announcements Usage of a VPN and/or Error 10010

There are logs, and real players can just appeal the accidental ban.

It seems like players like us are completely out of luck and Amazon don’t really care at all.

They’ve failed to address this issue since release and now they’re banning the only workable solution that exists purely to fix an issue that this realistically isn’t going to impact at all. Unfortunately everyone who suffers from this issue (which is entirely out of our control and a problem with ISPs and Amazon, further evidenced by the fact VPNs completely solve it) seem to be part of a group too small for them to give a damn about in any respect.

I’ve wanted to play this game since release but there has always been something getting in the way of that due to Amazons incompetence. If this isn’t reversed then, as much as I would like to play this game, I literally can’t and I’m sure many others like me will be forced to quit.

People need to stop saying its the ISP and ONLY the ISP.

I experienced issues in FFXIV years ago and it only happened to users using Verizon FIOS where their connection had to go through Level3 Communications before hitting the FFXIV servers. This is not a “ISP vs AGS” issue. It’s a lot more complicated than that. Somewhere between the ISP and AGS. is a breakdown in network traffic. A VPN can bypass whatever is the snag and provide a stable connection.

A couple days ago a friend of ours had issues with their discord. Turns out there was a discord outage. He was in Chicago connecting to Atlanta. I had him go through a VPN to connect to Atlanta and it bypassed whatever outage was impacting Discord users. The discord server was fine. My connection to the atlanta discord server was fine (I don’t live in Chicago).

VPN’s is the end users solution when the big companies all point fingers at each other and play the blame game. Shackle their CEO’s into the same room with no one leaving until it’s resolved would fix many issues. Sadly that’s not an option so rather than invest in the slightest bit of resource, it’s easier for big companies to punt it off to someone else. You have to really nail down the ownership to force a fix. AGS has the power as a global company. One user does not, 10 users would not.

So if they can’t get their stuff straighten out, then we need VPN’s so we don’t get crippled by their lack of inaction.

They are lucky they didn’t get banned since using vpn is against tos

Whoever used VPN wasn’t going against the TOS, because the clause says “may not”. It just means that Amazon can use this clause to block what they want.
If they allow all is well.
If they don’t… tough luck
(I’m in the tough luck area)

It’s basically the ISP. There are some minor peering issues re latency but the core network doesn’t have disconnection problems like people complain about, those kinds of problems require an ISP to botch. Like, you’ll never find a reverse path blackhole that can be blamed on the core network even though they’re common now.

3 Things I dont trust in life:

  1. Politicians
  2. Stories told on the internet
  3. Stories told starting off with “I have a friend xxxxddd” and told from a third person perspective.

There are several things, which jump into my mind. Most of the times, connection/routing issues occur because of malfunctioning ipv6 routing, an ipv4 alias address or a transparent proxy.

To counter the first two, I’ll add some hints at the end of this post. To counter the last one, I need you to answer these two questions:
1.) Do you have a hardware firewall at your place? If so, which brand/type?
2.) Do you have Amazon Prime Video by chance? And if so, are there connection issues as well from time to time?

To disable ipv6 routing, just disable the ipv6 protocol on your network card (you’ll find multiple detailed descriptions if you google it)
To check for a secondary/alias ipv4 address, please run the following command in a powershell:

Get-NetIPAddress | ft IPAddress, InterfaceAlias, SkipAsSource

If there are multiple shown IPAddresses for a given InterfaceAlias, please post your output here and we will go further from there.

I hope, this helps

I live in the US and am traveling to Singapore this summer. I have Steam and Lost Ark downloaded on my laptop to play there. Will I be affected in any way by this?

disabling ipv6 isnt good idea unless he knows what he is doing clearly imo.

and prob alrdy did if so.

can think of so many reasons causing his d/c and cant really help unless c in person.

btw didnt ags alrdy fixed that error he provided weeks ago?

As long as you are not using VPN and Lost Ark already in your steam account I believe you are still able to play… many SEA players who already got LA on their steam account still able to login after this VPN drama just don’t use VPN

I find it hard to believe that there’s anywhere in the US that doesn’t have at least one good ISP. I live so far from civilization that it’s comical and have had amazing internet for 10+ years.

Point blank if you don’t have good internet in the US it’s cause you are paying the minimum. I assure you I could move into the place next to yours and have the best internet money can buy the next day. Alabama means nothing, this isnt 1996 when getting internet was a luxury

thanks man. thats what i heard.
