My Opinion of Honing Problem - more MATS, Postpone new raids

For TL;DR -

  • Give more mats from events, replace weekly roster limits to character limits

  • Need to postpone upcoming raids, maybe May or June.

You might heard what GoldRiver (Director of KR Dev) said on ArkWeek stream:

“Don’t go too fast, take your time.”

But at the same stream, he said the Argos will be on March, and first Region Raid, Valtan on April.

When I heard the line, I was so worried :worried: beacuse I know the 1 month gap won’t be enough.

KR/RU/JP players were in T2 endgame when T3 was newly released. On the other hand, NA/EU/SA players are starting from literally nothing. Which means, it would take some time to make enough playerbase in T2 endgame or T3.

Open the AH menu and check the price of several honing mats. T3 mats just skyrocketed to the moon because of the poor mat supply. T2 mat price is quite weird in NAW server, Guardian Stones are 3 times expensive than Destruction Stones despite we could farm former 5 times the latter. This is an evidence that most of the active players are stucked in T2, the demand of T2 mats for honing is still high cos’ they are keep pushing to reach T3. (ofc u could find this from the steam acheivements)

I found that T3 honing chances are same with initial S2 KR version (before June 2021), which means our version doesn’t have alleviation for that. Even gold earnings from Abyssal Dungeon cut in half compared to old KR (similar to recent KR). However, Under 1415 Item Lv, amount of gold required in one attempt of honing is 30%~50% of old KR version. These informations tell us that It might costs above 15k~20k gold for hit 1370, 75k~90k for 1415. (Based on data that Vanilia S2 KR required above 50k / 150k) Of course there is one prerequisite; you have to farm all the mats by participating game contents, not buying from AH.

So gold is not the problem of T3 honing in NA/EU. The hardship of honing is slightly easier or same with old KR and if you sell mats in this bubbled market to earn some gold and hone later, it could be much easier. The real problem is gathering mats. Only few reached in T3, and again, only few of them has T3 alts. The more you buy mats from AH for honing, more the total cost will exponentially increases like it could reach to Mars or further.

I want to suggest AGS reducing stress caused by mats in various ways. Give more mats or lower the mats required for honing, and this is exactly how SGR (KR Devs) handles this.

Some players are talking about missing contents, e.g., “Challenge mode” of Guardian Raids and Abyssal Dungeons, but I don’t think that this is the time for those contents yet. They are contents where our gems/setbouns/tripods don’t work and gear stats are scaled (normalized), so engravings play a key role. However, Many players in early T3 or lower only have one or two 3 Lv engraving effects. This could make “Challenge mode” so hard to clear. (Least 2-3 3lvs required in KR) Also, the purpose of Challenge mode is like re-experiencing classic contents. So this should be updated when major playerbase is in T2 endgame ~ Early T3. So we need more time.

Instead of that, events or some featrues that helps to get bounded mats will help. This is the reason why AGS bring Naruni Grand Prix recently, but I think the limitation of weekly earning is quite tough. Please consider raising the amount of mats per week, and change roster limit to character limit to help more alts in the similar progression with the main.

Also, please consider postponing upcoming raids. We need more time for players and in-game economy to catch up new endgame contents. I thought Argos at April legit, but AGS already did it in early March and it is clear that AGS failed to manage this time. I hope next raid, the region raid will show up at least May or June.

Some players want implementing growth supports (leaked before from official source) which are active in other regions. This method should be used carefully. Relieving T1-T2 helps not only F2P or newcomers, but also BOTS to reach T3. We all know that Devs are struggling with these BOT problem. Easing T3 for now could enlarge the gap between F2P and WHALES. These alleviation should be introduced in proper time.

I know there are much reasonable criticism in honing chances and costs, but someone who are just blaming and whinning about their unpleasantness, I am quite sure that they will do the same at 1385-1415 ilv, especially over 1415 where even KR server doesn’t help that much. This is a Korean P2W free-to-play game. What did you expect?

Thanks for reading this long post. I hope that AGS will make this game long-run in big market.

+p.s.
I’m planning to put my main at T3, lower than 1325~1340 and then throw all tradeable mats to the market. Focusing on raising alts to T3 seems much better for the later progression.

Postponing raids isn’t really the answer, content should move ahead, the problem they need to address is the pacing they have set in motion along with the complete lack of pacing mechanics and content that are available in other regions.

The game should have just launched out of the box with the 20% T3 Honing buff. However, once the missing content and the honing buff is in place you will find that MANY players will race up to the point where 1370 is much easier to obtain…and then we have a new problem…lack of content.

I played a lot of RU, the path to 1370 there is not the issue, we still need to have content in front of us and a raid a month IF everything is in place is not a bad pace.

The problem right now is they never put that path in place and expected people to still reach it, fix one and you fix the other.

I didn’t say that the updates to be stopped, but releasing big raids in every month is way too fast. Of course contents should move ahead, but we need a reasonable time for players and economy. Please remind that NA/EU started from nothing, compared to KR/RU started from T2 endgame before T3 release.

I had played in KR for a long time too, and I personally agree road to 1370 or even further is not that hard if we take some time. However, there should be more ways to earn mats such as PvP vendors or special events to help ppl reach the endgame. KR Devs are very good at this.
