Not sure if I would call that using free pheons, they were more of a lend than a give. You’re basically pulling your future pheon purchases to the present at the expense of using auction house
Hold on here. These numbers are rounded down sans the post-Reaper update, but if you do the math I only spent 100 pheons out of the 110 I claimed from Pheongate. With that in mind let’s do some simple addition and subtraction:
Starting Pheon: 230
After Pheongate: 340
After Tripod Purchases: 240
After Reaper Update: 99
Claim Compensation: 129
So no, there isn’t a net gain of 30 pheons, my account was more or less rebalanced to what I should have had in the first place without Pheongate, minus 1 measly pheon. I know I look like I don’t have a good case for complaining since I essentially lost only 1 pheon, but is my situation really the same experience across the board that everyone is up in arms about?
If a smoker diagnosed with terminal lung cancer tells you shouldn’t smoke cigarettes because it’s bad for your health, is he wrong? I’m not trying to be a hypocrite but this isn’t a logical fallacy. Just because I didn’t get hit as hard doesn’t mean what happened to us is wrong.
As you say, yes I’m not worse off. In fact I probably have it better than everyone else who was also penalized. So I don’t exactly feel better about nearly breaking even when I could have gotten it just as bad as everyone else also affected had I made even one more purchase. And I worry not IF, but WHEN this will happen again. And given AGS/SG’s handling of Pheongate, this WILL happen again in some other ugly shape or form in the future. So far we’ve been given no confidence or guarantees that it won’t, because even those initial placating statements turn out to be nothing but lies.
Go claim the compensation pack in the store and you’ll get your 30 pheons that you’re missing. You must have miscounted somewhere. Especially since tripod pieces are 7 pheons a piece so you couldn’t have possibly gotten 100 pheons worth, 100 isn’t evenly divisible by 7. Closest two numbers are 14 and 15 tripods, which are 98 and 105 pheons respectively.
I can’t buy anything from the AH. Even items like engravings which don’t cost Pheons. Until I swipe to pay for AGS mistake.

I for one spent the extra pheons on skins, which i would not have donw with pheons that i would buy with gold via exhange. so where is that leaves me? i got in the negative cuz they said i can keep the pheons in the first place.
lol all this hype over negative pheons XD i was -86 cuz i for one, read “we are taking them back” & rushed to spend them just cuz can lmao. I totally agree with everyone, It was wrong to take them back AFTER stating they arent, as i was not negative upon logging back in, just to see negative AFTER the update. That is inded kind of BS. Am i mad im negative? not in the slightest, i purchased on loan 
& they keep screwing things up, they’re working on paying my loan off for me. Currently -46 still, after this comp package, -16… im not giving them money & buying pheons to pay for their mistake, i’ll just stay negative until they pay off my loan for me guess i fall in that 5.8% player crap XD

Nothing any different then anyone else does upon logging in & seeing mail.
Who’s mad? I didn’t get the pheons and so I just get 60 free pheons from the 2 compensations. It sounds like the only people mad right now are the folks who looked at the 200 free pheons and went “well this seems like a mistake, better spend them all before they fix it”.
I have basically no sympathy for the folks in the negative cause they got the items they wanted from the pheons.

Idk why people are accepting of AGS behaviour when this matter affects everybody, whether you’re in negative pheons or not.
AGS shown that they will go back on their words, which means that anything they announce going foward, their words will have no weight to it.
They must be held accountable for their actions otherwise this sets a precedent and 95% of the players are willing to sit back and accept their malicious words & actions. You’ll never know when the next set of ‘gifts’ will be taken from YOU!

I think it blows chunks. We did nothing wrong. We were sent Peons by AGS. We spent them in good faith. It is completely wrong for them to take them back. We didn’t screw up … THEY DID. So why are we being penalized for it?
It was perfectly logical for them to be sending Peons to us so that we could buy tripods just before the system changing. It is perfectly illogical for them to punish customers because they did something “they didn’t mean to do”. Tell me, who in AGS is going to refund me because I bought something “I didn’t mean to buy”? Own your stink guys. Time to be adults.

I absolutely did. I purchased tripods with them thinking that is why they sent it to us. Keep in mind, I didn’t go negative. But I wouldn’t have spent them if I thought they weren’t legit or that they were going to take them back.
To be honest, the game has become cumbersome as of late. It is not going to take much more for me to move on to another game.
Well, most of people with negative pheon count admitted they spent them on some meaningless things and now regret it - they knew AGS may take them back so they tried to get away from it.

No, the folks who got let’s say 200 Pheons logged on to their 17 purchased with real money additional character slots and claimed 10 Pheons from each mail about a Tripod change that is coming. It didn’t exactly seem unreasonable or like a mistake as it barely paid for a few Tripods for each character. You could obviously use them on something else, but it overall looked more like a nice gesture to a change that were coming which had had little advertisement and explanation. Personally I claimed 100, but had no reason to spend any so I luckily were completely unaffected by their eventual removal. Believe it or not, I ultimately don’t care that they were removed from me, but I do care that AGS said they would not remove them after their 5 hours+ long emergency maintenance and then went back on their word. That creates distrust. Now they even allow exploiters who claimed 400 Epic engraving books and learned them, ironically on the day they removed the Pheons, to keep their free engravings. That’s double standards, regardless of their value. Those engraving books were an obvious bug that some players exploited. 400 Epic engravings from an Express Pass that had up until that point given you 20 Combat and Class engravings for each rarity? That is so obviously a bug. The 10 Pheons per mail on each character you had, I’d argue weren’t as obvious.
Had they left the mails on everyone’s accounts instead of deleting them during their 5 hours+ long emergency maintenance to fix what they said were a supposed exploit that allowed certain exploiting players to supposedly keep deleting and creating characters to re-generate a mail that I can only expect were sent to every character that existed on every account at a specific point in time (like huh? Exploitable how?), it would have been a non issue, and while I’m sure some players who can’t recognize that those who could claim more mails than them had also paid money for these mails by buying the characters slots, overall it would have been a positive experience for the players of the game. I honestly think the supposed exploit claim was a total lie by AGS. Especially after they went back on their own statement about not removing the Pheons.
I just don’t trust them anymore. They lied about that, so why not about there existing an exploit allowing for endless Pheons to be generated. Here’s the statements they made about the supposed exploit;
Sure, so every single mail I’ve ever gotten from AGS will magically appear on a new character I create and isn’t only sent to what currently exists at the time of the mail being sent. They just endlessly gets sent out to every new character. Seems plausible. I also find it hard to believe that it is impossible to send a mail without an item attached. Seems like another lie, but maybe it is better to believe that Smilegate are incompetent when designing their game’s various systems, because that is what AGS is saying. You’d have to be pretty dumb to design a system that require an item to be attached in order for the publisher/developer to send mails out to players, while players can easily send mails to each other without items attached.
I totally agree with what you said. I didn’t “exploit”, I opened an in game mail FROM AGS that informed me of an update and gave me peons to compensate for the system change. Like you said, I took it as a good will gesture and thought it was nice. I didn’t create a bunch of characters to get more, nor did I think it at all odd that they did it.
And it seems that someone at AGS agrees given the compensation package we received today with an additional 30 peons and 2 selectable legendary books…
If anyone at AGS is reading this thread, I want to thank you for at least trying to own it and make it right.
