The select few will complain most of us understand balance patches. Now if my sorc gets so nerfed that i start getting the ret paly treatment and people wont let me into raids then i will start hissing a fit.
The surge nerfs may seem a bit heavy handed but they were necessary as surge blade was able to solo certain content that no other class could solo due to its absurd damage ceiling. The nerfs simply put surge more in line with other classes. If this nerf was indeed too harsh then SG will buff them—no class will be left in an unusable state just look at how many buffs destroyer and arcana got.
You must take into consideration that Surge hits the highest powerspike early T3 with only one gem (Surge damage) and no tripods attached.
It is logical that in the latter game, with lvl 3-5 tripods, full gems RE get a higher ceiling in damage. Like all transformation classes builds and their counterparts.
Also, to note they playstyle SG wanted Surge to be (20 stacks being the best, not 14 being more efficient)
I see most complaints from deathblades since the nerf not only nerfs damage, but makes the rotation more clunky because of gauge regen nerf as well as damage. It essentially changes the play style and not just damage.
Put it as you want but a high risk engraving being on pair with a low risk one at any stage even when the high risk one has the optimal conditions (easy 20 stacks) is killing the engraving.
Is not killing it if you are meant to get 20 stacks. Also, the balance is made considering KR average player (way higher stats than us). And the investment on a class matters, research transform Scouter, Scrapper & Shadowhunter and their counterparts.
It is not as you think, is the way SG devs designed X classes/engravings. And furthermore, balance patches come and go for every class, in the end we will have to embrace it all (Zerker main here, so I know the feels)
I know surge blade deserved a nerf but not a murder like every kr blade is switching to RE and the prices of RE engravings went way up.
I am not demanding a revert or whining about it i just want people to say it the way it is.
There is not a single reason you would want to effort more to get less reward using surge if the ptr goes trhough.
I personally love both play styles but i can acknowledge when they kill one of them.
Most KR players were already using RE way before this PTR announcement, check loawa. And it is not even near of death, when a Build is dead it is literally unplayable as you would be better going engraving-less because your class with that build is worse than DPS support.
All classes have two engravings, always one will have higher damage ceiling than the other, among other things.
well for one i can only speak for sorc because that is the class i have experience with, from what i found in KR they did dps tests for reflux and igniter already and before the nerfs igniter was ahead in dps whereas now reflux pulled ahead by like 4% in dps (i cannot 100% confirm these results) but this creates a problem where conceptually reflux should never be allowed to hit higher dps ceiling than igniter simply because of the way reflux works, reflux makes it so you are freely able to use up to 3 blink charges and as such gives you way higher mobility and surivability as well as ease of execution by not being locked into a somewhat short burst window in which you have to hit all your stationary casting nukes like on igniter, igniter does not have the luxury of using the blink without completely annihilating your dps and is locked into this burst window i mentioned which makes it harder to play and should therefore also have a higher dps ceiling in a scarecrow scenario, the nerfs are destroying this previous balance even though igniter sorc was arguably too strong in the big picture of all classes, but the shift within just the sorc subclass itself between the 2 playstyles is very unhealthy for its balance
that being said im certain KR will realize this in the ptr and changes will be adjusted in a way that does not cause this issue when the changes are being finalized (given that the dps values that i have been told of are even correct so far)
also to address the part with it being in a diff region, AGS mentioned that our classes will be as up to date with KR balance as possible
So far the only complaint I have about the nerfs is surge’s resource generation was nerfed. I get the damage, but why they gotta mess with the flow of the class?
To me Surge Blade didn´t look that OP. I mean in all the vids i watched they did that BIG hit with their stack release thingy, but all other hits were utterly low damage compared to other classes^^
Berserker nerf isn´t doing much, it´s still hilarious. But Berserker wasn´t that OP for me neither, i beated enough COMPARABLE Zerks in MVP already. It´s just hard to not fail with that class or play it wrong.
I don’t mind the nerf to surge’s damage, forcing 20 stacks seems brutal though. It removes the wiggle room 14-20 had where you could continue to build stacks before dumping and now further tightens the window before you’re “wasting” cooldowns because you can’t dump surge.
The worst feeling in the world playing surge is when you don’t hit the boss, the second worst is when you’re at 20 stacks and are forced to use cooldowns instead of dump.
i got that from a friend who plays on kr and idk if he did a dps check himself or got it from someone else who ran it early into the ptr changes but yea i also heard again now that igniter is still ahead of reflux in dps after ptr changes so he must have done something wrong
but yea id wonder what the current dps difference is in a scarecrow scenario since i didnt find a latest number comparison
berserk main, i think its a justifiable nerf to the mayhem class engrave, even nerf some of the skills but 2 of the heavy dmg skills getting 20-30% nerf along with red dust debuff bonus dmg removal, both skils are 30+ seconds cd on a back attack class that doesn’t teleport and has all dmg skills with directional dmg or go thought bosses in one dash seems a bit harsh. Maybe later in game with relic sets and better gems it will not seem so harsh but as it is now at 1400gs feels its too much.
Just an opinion, it doesn’t matter until the balance patch comes out and even then who knows how the patch will look like
