OP said he switched servers, I assume this is to EU West? If so, then Pheons shouldn’t be that scarce. I already got 100 of them from log in rewards only. And I only have about 10 hours into the game.
As I only have little actual play time, I can’t comment on how things are on endgame from personal experience.
However, if OP really is on EU West then those prices are to be expected. Because people on EU West started later than others, so high end stuff (especially T3) is scarce and thus expensive. It will get better over time, I am sure.
Secondly, I don’t think it’s intended to buy your gear from Auction House. At least that’s how I see it. You’re supposed to earn stuff from grinding dungeons, raids and what not. Furthermore, it’s a Korean MMO. They love grinding.
You can buy Pheons with crystals. You can exchange gold for crystals. You can farm gold on a T2 alt and make 3k per day selling gems and tradable mats, just from Guardian Raid and Chaos Dungeons alone. That is about an hour of easy farming, to get enough crystals for a Crystalline Aura, and to buy pheons. You should get over 50 Pheons from quests alone, and Pheons are traded one by one. That’s over 50 trades just from quests. If you ran out of Pheons, that means you used the market to an insane extent when pretty much everything you need apart from accessories with correct engravings are provided for free.
TL;DR Pheons are free. Farm gold, exchange for crystals.
This is what I found most amusing about OPs post. Complains that the game is pay to win, but obviously wants to buy all of his gear from other players instead of grinding the gear out themselves.
I think if you’re in T2 and you haven’t used the AH to get your engravings on accessories then you are gimping yourself by an insane amount.
Saying that though, I’ve spent about 8 Pheons. You get 50 from a single quest, and you get them from login rewards as well. Besides the fact, Pheons are actually free because you purchase them with crystals, and you can trade your gold for crystals.
They are basically there to stop people from playing the market, buying low, selling high, and hoarding all of the gold in the game. They want you to play alts and the game for your gold, not sit around trading and inflating the market.
You don’t use pheon’s for anything in the Market side of the market as far as I know - so honing resources, engravings, potions, etc. You only use them on the Auction side for gear and accessories.
Accessories aren’t too bad to come by in my experience, but I am disliking the engraving grind.
Oh I know and completely agree that’s what they want us to do. That’s why I have 5 alts.

Accessories are easy to come by, but accessories that match your ability stone or class engraving and also roll the correct stats at a decent quality are not. That’s why in T2 you use the AH to buy accessories or you’re gimping yourself. The T2 content basically expects that you have decent engravings and is balanced around that. I suggest you use the AH and focus on min/maxing your engravings as soon as you hit ilvl 860.
I don’t really need that advice, but maybe someone else will come across it and it’ll help them.
Of course I use the AH to flush out a build, but that doesn’t cost anywhere near the amount of Pheons we get for free, as the OP is seemingly claiming. I’m only in T2 though, so I don’t know how many pheons per accessory we have to spend for t3 gear.
Shhh, dont say that loud to the forum people that having decent engravings buying in AH is something needed in game, because they all will tell you “you want to have a supertop build min/max progamer whale” xDDD
They are just beggining with the level 1 grudge engraving and testing things, they will understand months later what are we talking about, and I wish to watch their pokerface ;D

That doesn’t change the fact your complaints are unnecessary. You get more than enough free pheons to buy your T2 accessories, and pheons are bought with crystals, crystals can be bought with gold. Thus they are a F2P item.
Keep working on your engravings, and good luck when you keep working to get them epic or legendary, prepare your wallet to buy lot of pheons in shop ;D
You said it in your original post, the peons are there specifically to prevent people gaming and dominating the AH.
Smilegate view this as important for the health of the game, and what do they know they have only been running it in KR for years and have seen all the exploits/holes and plugged them.
They give out Peons pretty regularly in events in both KR and RU, we’ll get them here, but you won’t get enough you don’t have to think about how you spend them, as they are there as AH bot prevention. Clearly your wasting Peons.
People often don’t look and think oh that 2nd trade item is cheap i’ll buy that, not looking at the peon cost which goes up.
Except, you don’t need pheons to buy engraving books and unlike you, I don’t expect a perfect build to fall into my lap over night. I don’t mind putting in the effort. Seems like you want the BiS gear and legendary engravings for free, right now.
75 Pheons for 5 accessories. 200 Pheons for logging in. 50 from quests. You are buying unnecessary things from the AH and complaining about something you haven’t paid attention to. 10 Crystals per Pheon, 10k gold = 1200 crystals = 120 Pheon.
This really is the embodiment of fail. Especially given the density of elitist language everywhere in this thread alongside 400+ hours and “new player”. Just everything is a contradictory mess.
If you paid 50euro for 400hours id argue you got your moneys worth.
No one is forcing anyone to stay. If you dont like the game simply dont play. Its really just that easy.
Pheons are here to stay just like in KR and it will not be changed. You might collect another free 200 pheons next monthly log in if youre unwilling to convert your gold to pheons, who knows. You can get mad at the system all you want but it isnt going to change. This is the system they use in KR, sorry you dont like it.
