Hi
I have this wierd setup
.- Mac Mini 2018 i7 64 GB RAM (bootcamp, Windows 10 fully updated)
.- eGPU Razer Chroma X
.- Sapphire RX 6800 Pulse (upgrading a Sapphire Readon Vega 64 Nitro+)
Actually trying to play Lost Ark and Hogwarts Legacy
With the Vega everything is OK with every driver.
With RX 6800… a nightmare. The best performace was acchieved with Pro driver 2022.Q4, whose driver is 22.5.1 recompiled oct. 25, 2022. The original 22.5.1 is apr. 28 2022.
But that 2022.Q4 driver is still unstable in my setup. Sometimes you could be playing 2 hours, then the PC is freezed and from that just enter Lost Ark, launch the character and exit. No matter the number of reboots, including reinstaling the driver. With that driver Hogwarts Legacy is just wonderfull.
With the new driver 23.2.1 it is difficult to make things work the first times, unengine superposition benchmark crahses from the beginning… but reinstaling the driver it finally works. From that moment Lost Ark works fine. No hungs, smooth, loading times reduced… perfect.
But Hogwarts Legacy gets a dramatical downgrade in performace. FPS drops to unacceptable in in-game movements (no figthing) and, which is worst, the quality of the render of your avatar is, by far, worst that the one done with the Vega! It seems that in 23.2.1 driver some brand new functions have been cut to make “old” games perform well with this card, sacrifying the new ones.
So, my piece of advice is to install this card if your setup is far beyond the specification requeriments for the new games, but if you are upgrading to RX 6800 to get raytracing properly in a 2018 PC don’t do it. In that case 23.2.1 driver seems the solution to Lost Ark problems, and the beggining of new ones for others.
I have been trying it hard for a week, but there is no way.
I will sen RX 6800 back.
