While I don’t think you’re necessarily wrong, I also think it’s fine to let a game live/die based on dev/distributor decisions. If things like this cause Lost Ark to die, then so be it. If not, then the game is ‘fine enough’ to not need it.
Ultimately, many people here understood that LoA is a KR game, and feedback here is already extremely limited in its use. Taking the forums down, in my eyes, is a forced reality check.
But perhaps I’m being too cynical. Not like I will be discussing it in depth anyway.
Gonna post here because all the other topics are just people yelling back and forth about the roadmap and not the forums themselves.
But I don’t see how this even functions. Their discord is absolute barebones fresh outta server creation menu, they have literally 3 mods. All they’ve done is make it massively easier to troll and spew any manner of comments. Peoples profiles are strictly controlled by them they cannot moderate those simply ban offenders. Scams are extremely prevalent in large servers meaning they’ve opened that avenue up even further. On top of all that I’ve never seen a large game and company just up and close their main official means of communication with their player-base and move to a platform that is not controlled by them, enforced by them, or full customizable by them. This is an extremely bizarre move for a company to just up and put all of their communication on the platform of another. If discord wanted they could just close up the Lost Ark discord server and give em the finger. Not only all that it’s happening so suddenly in just 5 days?
I gotta agree with OP a bit here. The series of events is… odd. They don’t coincide with what they said in the letter by any means. This all screams “Milk what we can we know we’re gonna lose a massive amount of whales or players in the coming months”. If that isn’t the case I’d really love to see some solid reasoning from them as to the decision behind this choice as that wasn’t ever explained in the post.
I also notice they claim they will be increasing presence on the subreddit as well? Which I don’t believe they even have official staff on the mod team there either? If people thought toxicity got bad on the forums wait till you see what happens on Reddit which isn’t moderated nearly as much and discord where two users can go absolutely ape on each other for minutes before a mod can be contact to even deal with it. Maybe hours in this case.
LoL - the biggest game out there for decade closed the forum long time ago. And you know what, it got better. The comunication got better. Forum is toxic place, they are old fashion communication way. They were great in early MMO era. But players in the past were a lot more civil and not so spoiled as the today kids.
This Lost Ark shjt show is a kinda good case studies regarding how these type of companies using their “corpo” acts dealing with their customers (players in this case).
From CEO/Manager bragging about “million” players at launch (really sad that they didn’t mention nor reward the bots contribution), CM/Mods with their “hype” marketing to the “band-aid” letter and now shutting down the forums, everything they did just reveal how they truly are.
Guess why? Because they want to do these changes in all regions including Korea the same time. For that they need to push us to get to the same point of content. Before writing your useless post start thinking. Ty
You can in discord but there it will be moderated and the communication will be more civil not toxic and raging as here. Plus the best way for feedbacks is the surveys. Because in one forum you have mailny the vocal minority which is just vocal. Forum are used no more then 6-7% of the players. One example is my static from 10 people, only me visit the forum, 1 from 10.

i agree the discord could be a more civil way of communicating. But as they have shown time and time againb… they dont know how to communicate. so what does it change that they change the platform they need to hire some that know what communication is all about.!
You bet wrong. I have helped new players to deal with trusted status and its completely broken. It is even worse than that since CS agents are poorly informed about their own system
