While a lot of anti bot measurements seem to be addressing the economy, it doesn’t seem to have deterred them from actually stopping.
While I’m leveling a new character from scratch (to tastefully enjoy the leveling process like a filthy casual) I’m just swimming in a sea of bots.
It must be discouraging for a new player who decides to try out the game and find themselves always in the company of Kadisadn and Basisdame who:
Run faster than your mount.
Get to the next npc before you.
Just as you think that bot is beyond you, another one comes up.
Blink to quest points.
Are interacting with your quest items so you have to wait.
Are smashing quest elites and mobs so you have wait.
Hope you tag that quest mob because they have no cooldowns and will smash it into oblivion.
Runs up, smashes the second quest target before you can tag it, so you’re both waiting for respawns BUT only one of you is a real, PAYING customer.
Always making you wonder if you picked the wrong class because you’re thinking “wow that berserker sure runs fast and smashes good.”
How is a new player supposed to enjoy and stay with the game with all this?
We want new players to enjoy the game so they can potentially be bards and paladins (sorcerers) in the endgame.
Having new players keeps some of the event islands alive in the long run.
Yes, I understand this is a bit of a Kare… Nineveh rant, but hey, I spent 20 bucks (AND SOME TAX) on this game and now I feel super entitled haha.
Oh well, back to pressing G.
