Having pheon cost for buying stones which is RNG is just pure stupidity.
Actually it’s:
- I paid for early access & founders packs
- I pay every month for Aura
- I purchase skins every update
- I purchase skins on multiple alts every update
- I purchase pets
- I purchase mounts
- I purchase a bunch of dyes for the skins I buy
- I purchase RC → BC for card slots, tripod, gear, card loadouts. As well as bank inventory, roster and alts…
- I purchase more expensive skin packs for Wallpaper skins
- I purchase RC just to have on hand.
We do things like this with IRL money, to show support for a game we play. Because if we play it, we should support it.
But the game wants more from us. It wants pheons, which are directly tied to the cash shop. The game even taxes us on gear we find on one alt, when we send it to another one of our alts. Why? Why aren’t we already considered a good customer? Why force more? Is it right? Is it ethical? Is it even moral?
The debate has never been whether or not the game gives periodic pheons. It shouldn’t matter if s player has 30k gold, or 3k gold or 300 gold. If you support the game, but just haven’t supported in the form of pheons, you should not be punished, period. That’s not a moral business practice.
People on these forums can try and spin the issue here any way they want. We’ve heard things like entitled, freeloaders and addicts. But that’s not the real issue. The issue is principals and whether or not people should support a system that feels morally and ethically offensive.
There’s nothing wrong with a paying customer questioning the integrity of a service they paid for.
Personally, I think I would stop complaining about pheons if every cash shop purchases I made came with a handful of pheons. Spend IRL 20 bucks on a skin, here is 20 pheons. Spend 10 bucks on aura, here’s 10 pheons. Spend 5 bucks on RC → BC, here’s 5 pheons.
That way, I am not punished for supporting the game, simply because I bought something other than pheons. And of course I’m talking only cash shop purchases with IRL money. No bonus if you convert gold to BC to purchase things. Think of it as a loyalty perk. A way fro the company to say, “thanks for your business”.
if you feel that they are forcing you or that is unethical or that it’s not morally right why not walk away and not support this type of practice?
you chose to continue to play this game for 9 months and spend money on it.
you chose to make 6+ alts which then made pheons a massive problem to yourself.
is it not right to say that if you created the problem for yourself that you should solve it yourself?

- expect ags/sg to fix your problem
take some responsibility.

Make all items bound after you purchase from AH and remove pheons. That is the best system to prevent resell.
But wait, how will they make $$$ when you try 7/7 9/7 stones ?
100 pheons price = 850 Crystals. You need 30 EUR if you buy with cash because with 20 euro you buy only 800 crystals. You see what they did there ? (that is a red flag)

I forgot to mention the restriction to place items in the Roster Storage (another red flag).
The Pheon system is there to milk money not to prevent anything. The only thing it prevents it’s us playing the game unless we pay $$$.
Any game that has a second currency is there to milk money. Lost Ark has

Only problem is you could put 900hrs in like I have and not get a single drop worth anything…and if you do gear waiting for drops then people with your same thought process talks shit about how people are running Argos in rainbow…2x3,3x3 etc and won’t let them join. To me idc I just buy the pheons because the game hasn’t once in 950hrs and 9 characters 1400+ dropped a single accessory I can use on that character…I need pheons to trade across classes. Pheons are fucking dumb.

A more appropriate analogy would be I decide to buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3rd row seat. You know for all those kids 
But I find out that the Jeep has this feature, everytime I shut the car off, the 3rd row seat folds down and you can’t open it again, until you insert a special Chrysler coin in. So everytime I want to use it, I pop the coin in and each time I shut the car off, the seat folds down. Rinse and repeat.
Now these Chrysler coins can only be purchased through Chrysler and even though I pay my monthly car payment, pay extra even and get the enhanced warranty and shop package, I STILL have to buy those coins to use the 3rd seat.
And the dealerships argument, well once you pay to open it, it’s not really a big deal. It will stay open for 2, 4, 8 even a 16 hour car ride. You only have to pay the next time you expect to use it and it’s not our fault you have too many kids and need to use the 3rd seat…
Doesn’t that sound ridiculous?? That’s exactly how pheons feel.

If you sustain pheons as a player, it’s only out of spite that other people will reach your farmed ilvl and gear without effort and you can’t stand out any more, therefore, out of arrogance.

all you need is one character 1430-1460 that’s it…yup…that’s it.
at 1430 you can do argos/valtan/vykas/ and clown practice if you only care about the raids.
at 1460 you get to do kungelanium if you really really wanted to enjoy “everything” currently in the game right now.
so…you don’t have to make more alts you chose to.
So following that line of reasoning.
If you only need one character to do all endgame content…
why do you make more alts and make pheons a problem for yourself?
The only arguement would be because you want to continue to enjoy yourself right?

Let’s take twitchcon as an example.
it costs money to go to twitchcon…
you have to buy a ticket.
you can choose 1 day 2 days or 3 days with varying prices.
you don’t have to go to twitchcon…you can “enjoy” something yourself (one character)
but you want to enjoy something more so you choose to go to twitchcon and pay the ticket for one day.(one alt)
and then you realize…twitchcon is really fun. so now you want to buy the 2nd day (second alt)
now after enjoying the second day so much you decide you want to enjoy twitchcon even more. so you buy the 3rd day (third alt)
you see where I am going with this?
You don’t have to go to twitchcon. ( you don’t have to make more alts)
since you can enjoy things yourself. (one character)

I plan to spend money every month to buy things to support the games I play. If any game I play has a subscription service I am buying it! I will have crystalline aura as long as I play this game.
The aura should come with 30-50 pheons every month for sure. Wouldn’t hurt to some for cash shop purchases either.

If time and attempts are linked and more alts are a multiplier of gold and materials… it makes sense to make alts. In fact, that is how Lost Ark makes money by Alts. That is how it’s built its economy and why new classes are “content”. Definitely p2w more ALTS = more materials (gold) = more pheons, costumes for AGS.
You are right as a player they can definitely play one alt. But that is relative to time. We are on the borderline of a playing frequency of 5-10%. The next gear will be 2-5%. All I can say is if you are still playing one or 2 characters right now… good luck. You need $$$$ or some wink wink luck.
The real problem is that players don’t want to spend “time”. They pay2-3 months worth of gold trying to hit with a 7-7 stone so they can get 5/3. Instead of playing and hoping to get the stones and relic accessories for their alt in that 2-3 months timeline.
Another problem is this false narrative regarding 5/3 that players “need”. Some whales, spenders, or clueless players who outilvl every single form of content to claim superiority argued that it is a requirement and everyone that is not 5/3 is essentially getting carried.
Players need to stop speeding and FOMO themselves to bankruptcy. Enjoy the game as an MMORPG and play long-term.
