The reason of implementing pheon system so people cant rmt. So useful! now you see players walking around with their 1500+ character with no alts 50+ roster lvl. perfect!
5 slot 25 each slot for relic piece is 125 in total then ADD FEW stones on TOP OF THAT
Also think about ability stones being items which are frequently bought. People have to convert gold to crystals while that to sone degree balances out the demand from people buying crystals to convert them to gold.

the reasoning is they want real money to be generated by gearing up. Its not about gambling, or one time purchases, or flipping. It assures they make more money off F2p players, and provide value to whales crystal product even when they have nothing interesting to sell in the store.
Short version, its in the game for monetization purposes, not game design. It actually impedes the game design and makes playing the game at a high end worse, since it makes it harder to be flexible with builds based on content, or desire. It makes playing multi characters worse. Its just all around bad for game design facets

Why with relic jewerly are you running 5x3 on a “trash” set? you know you can test out how it feels in the training room
It’s called a scam. Pheons have no use in the game other than making you buy them from the Cash Shop. Items already reduce their tradeable amount which dictates their price naturally, as well as some being bound like your OP points out.

They cost Pheons because if they wouldn’t cost Pheons then those players who have 400k gold in their bank would buy every single one of the stones you would even consider buying and they would put them back on the market for an extra price
However what makes this whole Pheon market messed up is that they’re tied to Crystals which means that when bots and RMTers almost tripled the price of Crystals, you would pay an extra fee of 1,4k for each 15 Pheon extra on an accessory, so it was not an option to buy even budget accessories for your alt accounts

I believe the main goal of pheons is to create a constant demand for blue crystals. Take out pheons and there isn’t a steady demand for blue crystals. It used to be Mari’s shop but that’s only at the start of the game before the economy settles in. Skins are once a month max and that’s only assuming you want that month’s skin
I wish we got more pheons. Already bought 200 pheons and need to buy more

Ability Stones can not be flipped because they are bound on purchase.

I hate the pheon system and it makes playing alts less enjoyable because you get cucked by the stupidly high prices for accessories regardless if they cost 30 or 30.000 gold.
It also makes it more painful to play with other people’s alts because some people are not ready to invest 10k + just for pheons to gear them which makes Yoho, Argos P1 , P2 a nightmare experience.
But but but… it prevents market flipping
I was very frustrated with pheon system for weeks due to the amount of gold required to get them and then as soon as hitting the next ilvl block needing even more. But now I’m getting used to it and dealing with it. All you need is for a god tier accessory to drop and you can buy multiple stacks of 100 to use how you please. The truth is that this is the main system the game has to generate profits. If you couldn’t trade gold and crystals I imagine they would never have been able to develop the game out as they have. It’s a necessary evil.

Dont know if there is any good reasson. But it is what it is. As someone else said just add a price of pheons to anything you buy. Like I spent 24k gold getting a 7 7 stone. like 21k of it was for pheons. But it’s a rock that will last me for months so 24k gold isnt that bad.
I spent mine gearing my characters for T3. Just wait, you’ll get there too and also have to suffer
