Pheons restrict players from enjoying the game

Again you’re making assumptions and ascribing beliefs to me that you have literally no reasonable basis to make. Have a good one

Thats why you decide beforehand.
You know theres this crazy cool place you can go to in Trixion and test engravings, stats, and your classes?

Can even start a timer and theres a DPS meter, woah!

Good thing we cant “explore options”, right?

Here I explained it here.

Except training in trixion isn’t even close to what it’s like to take that engraving setup into difficult content.

What does it matter if all DPS focus on is the dps celing of your class. The difficulty of the content is irrelevant as good players find ways around to DPS efficiently. What other options besides min/maxxing dps would you be exploring? Weird take.

If youre support it doesnt matter because theres only like 4 engravings worth taking on support.

People are providing you solutions and you are just wiping them off without anything to back up your statement, I guess this is it then. Enjoy.

I would prefer an affordable, strict market than overpriced market in which all items can be manipulated by mega whales without regulations.

Except mega whales aren’t impacted at all by pheons because… you know… they can just buy more.

There is no logic in the argument that pheons prevent whales from dominating the market.

It slows down people from buying their items, which reduces their income

Haven’t read the whole thread, so maybe someone already posted something like this, but…

What if the Pheon tax was only active on ur highest itemlevel character. For Alts, u could buy without paying pheons (or send stuff to ur roster without tax), but the items would be bound immediatly.
That would prevent flipping, make mid-range items worth buying and I think be overall good for the economy.

Maybe I’m missing something, feel free to correct me

Then you get 1 alt to a lvl that can buy legend accesories and you are free to flip
Edit : nvm missed the bound part

The purpose of pheons was never for bots. KR does not have a bot problem, but they still have pheons.

It benefits free players more than whales. Free players rarely worry about pheons, because they dont exactly have all the wealth to shop frequently; they are more often limited by gold instead of pheons. Of course there are rare cases where poor players don’t realize the importance of pheons and just replace their low cost accessories or stones every other day. But once they do hit that drought, hopefully they learn to start saving.
Whales, on the other hand, would be spending premium purchasing constantly to replace their accessories with higher quality or trying to roll for that 9/7 stone. They also can’t control the market as easily because they would have to resell a lot higher to see minimal profit because of the pheon ‘tax.’

If the pheons were taken out, the market would crash. I drop LOTS of accessories on my characters daily, if I could go between my alts and I would NEVER buy anything on the market and consequently at some point no one would need to buy it.
I also feel a little frustrated about missing pheon, but I know it’s a necessary evil.

But you CAN trade them to your alts for just pheons, no gold. So it’s still smarter to do that than buy on the AH.

Are you trading accessories to your alts now? I would wager not.

But when you switch between your characters, your pheon still runs out and at some point you will have to buy Crystals (with gold) to buy more pheon, so you will spend gold in any case.

Lost Ark doesn’t aim players enjoyement. It’s a list of chores you do while trying to surpass obstacles.

Pheons are another obstacle to push players to purchase them. Completely useless meaningless currency aimed to tax players.

It’s just the Asian mentality. That’s how they treat their own citizens over there.

That’s not the point I was disputing though. I was disputing that removing pheons would cause the market to crash because noone would buy items.

If it’s not crashing now because of people trading items between alts (most don’t even do this) then this specific behavior wouldn’t cause the market to crash if pheons were removed.

The defense of pheons astounds me a bit.

When the pheon tax is multiple times more than the buyout of an item, you have an issue.

Pheons are a thinly veiled store item to pressure people into swiping.

I mean what I don’t understand about your point is the following. What is gonna keep a whale from whaling himself more pheons. For me it looks like the “poor” or f2p players get penalized with a barrier that’s neglectable to a player that “whales”.

For me, pheons just make it harder to enjoy my time on my alts.

Nothing. They using money on pheons while free players use no money on pheon.
If you are rich enough to be buying quality goods on all your alt… then you probably have the gold to be in the mid-higher class. If you are purchasing more than the average free players, you can probably afford the higher tax.

Prudent f2p mindset is that character doesn’t even need to spend a single pheon until 1370. How many 1370 alts do you have? And if you want to buy bis accessories for your 302 alts… you should have the wealth to afford that.

I strongly disagree that discouraging players from participating in the market until “max level” is a good thing.

As much as people theorize that pheons help f2p players, the “on the ground” reality for me (and many others i’ve spoken with about it in game) is that it harms wealth generation as the only drops worth trying to sell are basically bis or close to it. On top of that, it fosters/encourages a playstyle where people play gimped versions of their characters when they would otherwise be playing with good engravings and feeling much better about their progression.
