Unlike most other regions that will be using the US based servers, the OCE region has a significant difference in time zones which presents a number of challenges. In particular the daily timed events will kick off at ~7am and ~1pm (taking AEST-GMT+10 as the middle and most populated group between the western and eastern time zones in the region). This means that most daily timed events will preclude OCE participation based on timing due to the majority of people having employment.
Please note that after the game is launched, server reset times may be adjusted slightly to best fit player and server needs.
Having an OCE tagged NA West server (EG Valtan which the OCE population will consolidate on) would allow AGS to adjust the timings for reset and daily events to fit the OCE timezone. While I understand we wont have local servers, I think this is a reasonable compromise to ensure the OCE region can fully participate.
Edit: And yes, this is exactly what Blizzard did in WoW with Frostmourne over a decade ago! It just has a more significant impact in LA.
Edit: Its also been suggested to have an identified server running two sets of event timers, one for US West timezones, and one for OCE timezones, but I acknowledge that has another issue with potentially allowing more rapid growth if more opportunities to engage in limited time are available.
100% Agree. We are no longer asking for local OCE server, we just want to enjoy the full content the game has to offer on our local timings. Please make Valtan West run on OCE timings!
Agreed, this is the most important issue. Everyone discussing OCE server that won’t happen in the near future (or ever) and ping issues, when we are actually going to miss out of a big chunk of the game itself.
Missing out permanent events and limited events until more time slots are provided for OCE community. Please add more time slots that suit the OCE audience, Particular at night after work, 7pm - 11pm AEST.
+1. At every turn, we’ve got “we are listening” and no action. This kind of stuff is the least they can do to accomodate us after ignoring our entire region.
This is really just settling… if they really cared about OCE players they’d give us a server… bugger this settling for some half assed middle ground of some server tags and time zone changes which also most probably, will never happen…
AGS if you take us seriously (which it looks like you don’t) settle with us and provide OCE with a server so we may actually enjoy the game under a normal ping
All the LA instances appear to be on R5b, or R5 bare metal servers. While Sydney does have R5, they dont support R5 bare metal tenancies, only M5 baremetal ones.
Basically its probably not feasible in Aus until the Melb facility is built later this year.
No, the community (check out the Lost Ark OCE discord) picked Valkan as the one we will consolidate on to improve our chances of having people to play with. That has no impact on the timings for in game events which is the point of this post.
This has become a huge problem as we cannot obtain certain rewards like Sea coins because we cannot log in at these times. please adjust. P.S. I have never experienced this problem in any other mmo as events are not timelocked to specific times during the day.
Events that happen in other mmo are on 24 hr rotation (possibly different days of the week) but always available throuout a 24 hr period as not everyone can play at the same time. This helps international play and also shift workers.
It is also creating server que times spikes as it is forcing people to all log on at the same time period, then all log off when the not important times.
why hasn’t this post gotten more traction? I am sick and tired of missing out on harmony isle because it runs during times when I am working every weekend… or the fact that most adventure island timings happen at 6AM AEST… unless you have no life and are sweating this game hard, there is no way a reasonable person would wake up that early to play this game when other life commitments are in order.
Mostly because the average person didn’t understand the impact before the game launched and were focused on trying to get oceanic based servers which are nice, but have far less impact.
Best we can hope for now is that they get server transfers up, and create a new OCE server for everyone to move too.
Definitely feel excluded from many timed events working a 9-5.
Personally, I haven’t been able to participate in a single adventure island or the time locked PvP event, and feel like many OCE players are in a similar boat.
I understand Amazon having difficulties with implimenting a server and hope for that in the long-term, but adjusting the times for events to suit the OCE Region would be a great quick-fix.
Like I said in the other thread, can play with 200 ping, but can’t skip work for an Event Island.
