Honestly, I’d have no problem with this, as I really want that that skill point potion… I do think one thing could be changed to make it far better though…
The Cooking Recipe: Wild Banana Bread
You need to farm 10 Ripe Banana, which is a rare drop from Anxious Orangutan Captains, of which there are four… and after farming them for around 3 hours… I got one ripe banana.
I’m just saying, up the drop rate or allow other mobs to drop them too, like the named mobs and elites in the area.
That was honestly the first thing that made me feel like I am actually playing an MMORPG 
.
Reminded me of typical oldschool grind. I wish there was more like that tbh.
But everything and everyone is just about getting everything fast. clearing content fast. having basically everything on day #1. I hate it.
but on a more constructive note:
farming them in a group is much faster. When I did it, I just invited a random guy who was killing them too. He was going back and forth between the first two monkeys, I did between the other two. Every now and then we’d run through each other’s area.
Took me maybe 2 hours to get all 10.
And if you don’t see someone farming, you could ask in area chat. I’m sure there are plenty of people who still need them.
Not fast, just faster… I shouldn’t have to waste that much time to get 10 bananas. IIt shouldn’t be so rough I wind up giving up.
There’s a balance to be made.

I don’t even see how that’s possible as they’re limited to four mobs… are you sure you don’t mean the sweet tropical fruit? Cos I did those in a group, and you need like 700 of em
I even mentioned those 4 mobs in my message… so yes, I was talking about the ripe bananas.
The monkeys have quite a fast respawn rate.
If it’s just you solo - I would recommend just going back and forth between the first two, to get as many kills/min as possible.
Well if you think a little there 2 spots you can run back and forth killing them because insane fast respawn in LA.
yes avarage is about 2 hours running between those 2 spots.

Personally, this was one of the most “ARGGHHH” quests, and like someone said, reminded me of a grindy MMO, I did them while queing for pvp, might be even slower but at least you are progressing two things at once, this is what I did, because the new pvp vendor has amazing rewards for progression too.
Find efficient ways to do tedious things to not make it so monotonous
I’ve been farming them around 2 hours… and gotten one banana so far… I think they could up the droprate.
Seen alot of complaints about this. Someone needs to get an actual devs attention to get this fixed
I didn’t know it’s ever been brought up before… but I definitely agree. I don’t want things given, but I think the game should respect my time more, which means, not taking 2 hours to farm 1-2 bananas.
Reminds me of grinding those cursed Whelpling rare pet drops in WoW.
And at least those were optional… Ripe Banana is mandatory to get 80% Punika Adventure Tome for the skill point potion.
I wouldn’t say mandatory, you could do Rapport instead of Cooking to get to 80%.
Rapport is far more difficult, it takes soo long, don’t you need the final level to get tome %?
Also many rapport on Punika are locked behind stats and daily grinded emote rewards
You get progress on your tome for every NPC you get to trusted.
The banana grind isn’t all bad anyhow… got my 10 within 3h of total grind, no need to do it in 1 session. You also get a ton of pots doing this, which will save you quite a bit of silver. Considering it’s a one time thing per ROSTER I don’t think this little grind should be changed, especially with how easy most of the previous tomes are

Yeah, it was like 4h grind in group to get those 10 bananas for me. It was frustrating, I accepted new person to group and then they got those 6 bananas they needed while I got 2, totally felt cheated by drop system at that point.
So as someone with Banana title (which I got not even dropping 1 banana -hilarious) I say: don’t buy collection items for Punika from market, they will drop while you’re banana hunting and the rest while you’re bug meat hunting.
True. In fact I sell my collectible drops most of the time, they make decent money. So that is a silver lining to all this.
There is 0 shot you farmed for 3 hours and got one. I farmed for an hour 1/2 solo and got 10.
edit: Dunno how you’re doing it but the mobs respawn quickly…you can just kill 1, then another, then go back to the first one you killed and it should be respawned.
In three hours I got two.
