Racing lobby, pet would not pick up items

I tried opening some shards in racing lobby and my pet would not pick up the shards. lost half of shards opened because portal opened. I tried dismissing then resummoning pet but it wouldn’t allow me to.

Why would you open it in race lobby? WHY not in the game but inside an instace?!
