Which server? Did this happen against french?

I m in Calvasus, but i think it’s on all server when a speak or other country speak his language. Because i saied against french but it’s against all people who doesnt speak english.( German, Spanish, etc…

Apologies for responding in English - I could do German as well, but not French.

It is my experience that the English-speaking population tends to insist on “no other languages allowed”.
Unfortunately, and as I saw it happen, some pranksters on the server I’m playing on responded in German, provoking the intolerant English speakers to get seriously angry - things tend to escalate very quickly.
While I appreciate that it is a clever idea to ask things in English, simply for the reason that I have a broader audience with a widely used language, I do not see a point in “forcing” people to default to only one language.

If I see something in a language that I don’t understand, I can simply ignore this and go on with my life.
I also tend to believe in diversity and tolerance, unless, of course, two people exchange their weekend experience or tell each other jokes in whichever language and do so in public, rather than /guild or /PM

The situation from where I come escalated as far as someone stating that “all servers must speak English” and encouraged all players to report all non-English posts as chat-spam.

yes, that’s be why Im ban  . But i just dont understand Amazon for that. i think they just follow the 500 report on me for language offens because i speak french in the chat. Im fine with you, we need to speak english if we need to speak to all players. But lot of people doesnt speak english, I mean kid or other. And its very frustrating to see that in chat.

Sorry for my bad english

Let me see if I get banned for saying “linguistically impeded, english-only-speaking people”

Reporting people for spamming because they ask a question and receive an answer in an international chat in whichever language . . .
is discrimination, certainly on an international server.

Requesting for all english-speaking people to report non-english comments as spam to force people to use english is a very aggressive and inappropriate approach in my opinion.
Certainly it is a provocation and most certainly it is nowhere near international or multicultural.

Interesting enough, no such problem existed in the 3 days of pre-launch.
Everyone on the server was mostly using English and people also used French, German and Spanish (Portuguese?) without anyone complaining.
We must have caught us a good lot of narrow-minded people with the public go-live.

I’d like to mention my spanish unofficially server (wei) case: it’s reversed.
Spanish people there are the intolerant ones and they’re always trying to have only-spanish chat. Same behaviour, different source.

Maybe all of us only have to be more pacific and tolerant with all players. You will need to know that its a international server and international means for everyone. Europeans had a lot of experience dealing with it, if your community joined there doesn’t make its yours.

I strongly advise adding multiple zone chats for different language recommendations as several other MMOs do. Not only is the daily toxicity in chat unhealthy for the community overall, but it stop helpful conversation from being seen. Amazon insisted they wanted to the community to organise itself without contributing anything to keeping it healthy. Now it’s time to take some responsibility and, at the very least, add the option to have multiple channels for different languages.

This might not have been a problem that needed addressing in KR, JP, or RU. But this is only going to get worse, and should be nipped in the bud ASAP.

TheSvenster, yes, its very sad, but i had the same problem too in a pre-launch.

I’m on Kadan and the chat is constantly filled with Spanish vs English hate.
Spanish people say that it is a Spanish server, while other, international people say that English should be used in the chat since it’s an international server, and that’s the common language that everyone speaks. I partially agree with the latter, to some extent.
I agree that when you are casually chatting on (example) Area chat, you should use English. If you want to ask a question it’s fine to use whatever language you want, or if you are looking for a guild etc. But spammin “ñññññ” (exact text copied from chat) in the chat to ‘fight back against English oppressors’ or whatever their reason was is simply counterproductive and childish.
I mean I’m not flooding the chat and replying to everyone in Hungarian even though they asked a question in English. What’s the point of that? They wouldn’t understand it anyway, so why bother?

This whole thing is getting on my nerves really. Area chat can be so much fun when people are just using a commonly spoken language and everyone can join in the conversation. So why be a stubborn asshole and spam “ñ” instead of joining in?

why not make a new chat tab with the language you want to chat in ? Me personaly i like to see global chat in English since while playing i like to read what players say and sometimes join the conversation. On international servers if everyone just starts to use their own language in chat it will be a freakin mess. Im sure there are many people who talk in English in chat like myself because they believe its better that way for everyone.
