Hey everyone, yesterday i was thinking about something and i would like to hear some thoughts about it.
Do u guys think that if lost ark had dps meters, people would start using more consumables like destro/corrosives etc to increase the TTK of GR to show âhigher dpsâ??
if someone already made a post about this sorry in advance since i dont see much of forums.
Thanks
I think in KR version you can see in the chat who threw grenades or used battle items.
If you are being sincere then itâs extremely unlikely they will put DPS meters into the game.
Smilegates former Lead Dev has made it clear he thinks DPS meters create more problems than they solve. Whatever everyones opinion may be on them thatâs the stance smilegate seems to be sticking to. There is a third party DPS meter that has gained alot of popularity since the western release but it has gotten some people banned in Korea.
What they are changing tho is the MVP screen. The new MVP screen shows all 3 categories of contribution so you can kinda roughly guess how much or little everyone did using the Cruel, Upright and regular Fighter tags. Iâm not 100% if itâs released yet in korea but it is something in the works.
Also as the guy above me said they have a setting to show battle items used in chat in korea.
I couldnt care less to be honest.
How honest do you think he was being with you, in a game monetized on selling the illusion of being a better player by purchasing high level gear where a DPS meter would shift the focus away from gear and onto skill? They canât sell skill.
I mean I disagree with him but Iâm not gonna sit here and try to argue that Gold River is a Evil Snidley Whiplash trying to extort money from the korean people. Whatever the reason is thatâs the stance and there really isnât anything we can do about it.
The best we can hope for is that AGS takes the Squaresoft stance on the meter and leave it be unless people abuse the knowledge to be assholes in game.
Nope its daily chores no one cares.
Also thereâs already a dps meter you can find and download and it would definitely create problems cause you can see how badly the classes are tuned XD.
thanks all for the feedback, but my question is more about the usage or not of consumables since alot of ppl complaint about sometimes ppl dont use it.
that why i talked about the dps meter since for example in wow or other raiding mmos ppl farm and use some sort of consumables to pump or inflate the dps overall and make the TTK of bosses faster.
Can we stop with the dps meter already ![]()
So the discussion you are bringing up is actually a huge culture war right now. Korea has a culture of everyone putting in their fair share to make the group go faster. Party number is tied to Item usage and because they have battle item used in chat they can really name and shame people who donât put in their share.
The west has not adopted this fair share mentality. There is no expectation of battle item usage even to the pretty extreme detriment to the group. It can be seen as selfish of them but they see it as selfish to enforce the usage on everyone regardless of circumstances.
My stance is that these items are no where near expensive enough to warrant not using them for some of the more obnoxious Guardian raids like Kungalenium. If everyone puts in there 1 item a run it turns a 7 minute ordeal into a 4 minute one which I think is worth the single item.
ty for the answer!.
Exaclty that im discussin
Am I blind or they still DONT show the percentages of the people who isnât mvp? itâs pissing me off so much, how hard it is for them to show the %s of EVERYONE in the fight?
lmao stop asking for dps meter.
itâs not going to happen
I believe that DPS meters are features that makes sense for top-heavy 0.1% of players that wants to push themselves to the absolute limit and are very much against causual and friendly player.
The consequence for me would be that the overall game will become extremely more demanding in terms of build and requirements to be admitted into Party-Finders. Thatâs logical, you wish to have only people that can achieve high DPS and for this only ultra meta Engravings are allowed for example which means even less diversity than what already is.
Perhaps a custom feature that you can vote at the beginning of the raid to have active if everyone agrees. Maybe this could satisfy.
Personally I am against, I think it will also incentivize more toxic conversation if someone âdoes not enough DPSâ.
I think the dps meter doesnât make much difference, there are few dps checks in Lost Ark. What I think would be fair, is a detailed MVP screen, what each contributed to the fight. This would improve the performance of fights, and decrease the amount of troll players (they would be targeted for their behavior).
I donât mind DPS meter, all I want to see actual stats, percentage of DPS after raid for EACH PLAYER, not only MvP and I know what upright or cruel means but I want actual percentage. I hope we get MvP screen rework asap
Was asked for like a gazillion times already.
Dps meters wont come, on purpose.
roxx.
As the OP mentioned in the post, this is something SGR and Gold River are against, and do not wish to implement. I understand why some folks are interested in these types of tools, but it is not on the table for now.
Enjoy reading, cuz this is huge ![]()
Never had anything but bad experiences with MVP/Cruel fighter chasers, DPS meter will just make it worse.
These guys cause wipes cuz they see nothing but the numbers and boss, they ignore mechs greeding for dps. All that matter for them is that they MVPâd.
No people will just use battle items that increase their own DPS even at the expense of RDPS.
while i personally donât care if we have dps meter or not. i have to agree with you there. thereâs these kind of people who has their ego up so high and would drool over dps meter and also extremely toxic towards otherâs. imagine how theyâll act if they see someone thatâs doing their job properly but not doing as much damage as them? you know whatâs coming. kick for that person cause not so high damage like the egoistic person who feels that he achieved something in life by getting MVP in a video game. we donât need this game to get even more toxic than it already is.
