Saving your character creation presets for launch

This is kind of in response to:

… except I didn’t want to hijack that thread.

I’m not sure if this will work, but character creation presets don’t look like they will automatically carry over.

The following is only speculation, but if it works, I would be pleased as punch. Tagging @Roxx to verify!

I wasn’t part of the alpha test, but just browsing to the local game files for the beta test showed the following default path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lost Ark Beta Playtest

Specifically, the Lost Ark Beta Playtest subdirectory name looks very specific, and I’m logically assuming that the alpha probably had its own name, and launch will most likely be installed in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Lost Ark

That said, I didn’t get a chance to play around with the config files, but I did notice that inside of the beta install directory is a subdirectory called EFGame. And within the EFGame directory, there’s the following content:

explorer_inRvlfkdBU

Inside of the private directory is another directory named as a 19-digit number, which is likely some kind of identifying ID related to my Lost Ark account, so I won’t share that screenshot for privacy reasons. However, within that directory is the following file:

explorer_SVVcnbO6Qb

All of this looks promising - if all our character creation presets that we saved are located in either of these XML files (as well as our other game settings, I’m assuming), then we’d just have to copy the entire config folder somewhere else for safekeeping (e.g. Documents), and copy it back over to the new install folder after launch.

Not sure if we would need to launch the game first to go through first-time initialization before copying the config folder, but I would logically assume that to be the case.

It should be said here for any non-tech savvy gamers, but make sure to backup the new config folder before attempting this in case the beta settings somehow break the game for you.

Anyway, crossing my fingers that this method will work and save everybody time during launch from having to recreate your characters from scratch, especially if you really liked your customizations and spent painstaking amounts of time on it like I did!

I also took screenshots of every single setting as a last-resort backup in case this doesn’t work. :v:

See you all in game at launch! :hourglass:

I saved my presets from the Alpha which were in \steamapps\common\Lost Ark Live\EFGame\Customizing and I just copy/paste them in \steamapps\common\Lost Ark Beta Playtest\EFGame\Customizing and they worked … Customizing directory is not available after the game is installed, so either create it or create a character preset in game (I think just creating any character is creating that directory as well). Files are .cus format

I am not sure if these will work with the client at launch but I am fairly optimistic

It’s possible, but I already see a discrepancy - it looks like they switched to XML format for the config files compared to your alpha example.

How they plan to store our customizations for launch still remains to be seen. Hopefully they will have some backward compatibility for both the alpha and beta! :crossed_fingers:t2:

I really hope so. I’ve spent probably most of the first two CBT days getting used to the customization options and saving at least one preset for every sub-class, even for the ones only KR has :star_struck:

I just took a quick 1min clip of all my sliders. It’s how I ‘recreated’ my char form the RU client to the NA client lol.
Just insurance for if the NA release client is different from CBT and everything is corrupt.
I advise doing something similar for future games

i try change all files from RU to beta and back. nothing works.

so i rly suggest screen all options and color codes in a file and use it @ start  the save strategy
