Scrapper: Taijutsu vs Shock

Fellow scrappers… thoughts on the different playstyles? Which do you prefer and why? I leveled and pushed through to T3 as Shock but I got sick of being animation locked for every single ability and either missing/getting clapped for massive damage. Switched to Taijutsu but I feel like the damage is a bit lower. The AOE is definitely less.

Shock is the only way you do reasonable damage, as all the big damage skills are shock skills.

Every class is animation locked in most skills, Scrapper is no exception. Though if you go for agility and crit(what i think is best combined with blitz commander and spirit absorbtion) the animation locks are very short in shock build/best dps build.

You wont prioritize specialization for shock? Swiftness/crit instead?

Yep, spec doesn´t increase shock damage that much, the shock class engraving actually does and you gain more profit from having higher agility and crit instead combined with spirit absorbtion and blitz commander(damage scaling with movespeed).

I don´t know why spec is suggested often, people use it anyway and have bad experiences with that… crying about low damage and long animation locks.

Sure, feel free to not listen to me, but then you won´t have a better experience^^

I’ll def give swiftness/crit, raidcaptain/spirit absorption a try. I enjoyed shock a bit more…but hated getting locked in place for ~2 seconds per death rattle/chain destruction/supernova

The thing about spec is, and this is probably an issue for a lot of classes, is that…‘experienced’ people in the community suggest “oh go look at maxroll for a build”. Not that builds are overly complex in lost ark, but to get a general idea at least. We see specialization as a priority, ok. easy enough.

Literally every big name streamer, except for one, in NA/EU simply suggest maxroll without thinking twice. Im wondering if this is just generally bad advice. With that in mind, I do understand that maxroll builds are built by ‘class experts’ from other regions. So its tough to discern what will actually work for you or not.

Both of those are good just they play very differently, personally I prefer to be a speedy girl and zoom around as Taijutsu scrapper

I am trying different classes but I defintly want what I play to go for swiftness.

Since shock build (according to guides) need/want high specialization and then some crit.
And Taijutsu is prime candidate for swiftness I am going with this.

I want to use my abilities often and have high mobility.

I’m really digging taijutsu scrapper. Ugh the AoE is a big thing of bleh of taijutsu. While most of the time its just trash mobs or chaos dungeons, they do decently at grouping up mobs for others to help out as opposed to just straight killing a clump. You still can, its just not as fast.

I think they really shine with the stagger checks and mobility of being able to stay on the boss at all times. I have yet to fight any boss encounter where I felt that I brought the wrong class to it. I do not think I’m going to win MVP for damage given but I know I do decent damage with higher than normal stagger. So it is more a jumpy generalized good on everything kind of class but maybe not the best.

Having 3 counters is also a lovely thing.

I’ve heard that specialisation doesn’t really come into its own until T3 on shock builds. I’m only T2 though so can’t really confirm.

I started with Ultimate Skill but I switched.
It was simply no fun to me.
Shock has things that I simply missed with Ultimate Skill… and that is abilities that have impact.
With only yellow skills you just… punch. Enemies flicker white and that’s mostly it.
The green skills are where the cool animations happen and that make a battle go “OOMPF”

Both builds are strong and equally viable with the same dmg ceilings

Play whatever you have more fun on.

If you liked the speedy gameplay of taijutsu then try out Prishaxx’s build.

It might not be bis but hes getting results with it and apparently its super fun too.

Playing Taijutsu as i love how smooth it is. Shock is easier to play as its more of a burst playstyle which is easier to do around boss mechanics but i prefer more consistent dps and you can get the mvps with taijutsu if you know the fights well enough and keep boss uptime high. Really loving the taijutsu flow though.

Can you post your skill build and Tripod’s for this Shock build. Alot of guides say to go Adrenline but I like the sound of your’s better.

Honestly, I’m currently doing Taijutsu in t3. Feels a bit more stable than Shock to me atm. Then again I’m still barely into t3 at 1330 ilvl. Stagger check? all my skills are up basically. Auto-Attack? cant, still have skills to press. Did i run out of my stamina bar? Nope, its still full.
I do plan on going shock for a bit later down the line once i have access to better accessories and higher tripods
