My friends and I just tried arena for the first time, all rank 19 and we get matched against full teams of tier 1s. Is this how it’s supposed to be?
It feels very discouraging to do something for the first time and then meet people who have played a ton.
Tier 1 doesn’t mean they are of that much more skill than you, it just shows they have achieved max achievement rank. It’s not ranked like mmr yet. Play for a full day and you will be at tier very quickly.
Okay, it was hard getting any information about the rankings at all. ![]()
And it felt very disheartening for our group to come in in our first match and we met only tier 1 opponents through all of our matches.
I’m pretty certain the matchmaking is legitimately broken on NA/EU atm. Supposedly your win total isn’t supposed to reset when you relog/switch character, but it does, and so does your hidden MMR which is present even in casual queues.
As far as the game is concerned, regardless of whether you’re Grade 20 and it’s your first game, or Tier 1 with potentially hundreds of games beneath your belt, the game sees you as the same MMR atm as soon as you return to character select and re-enter.
Teir 1 only means the amount of play time they have in Pvp is way more then you. You will be teir 1 as well with about 50 games played.
Yeah, that is what experience is. What I am complaining about is that we, as new players, get matched up against player who have 50+ games under their belt. That is what I would call scuffed matchmaking.
What lol? What experience do you have with other games that do that? 50 games is nothing. Probably takes 1000 games to master a class and have full combat knowledge of other specs and how to trade with every class evenly.
With matchmaking literally broken and nonfunctional as it is now, it is entirely possible to be matched with somebody who has over 1000 games the first time you queue.
What does it matter man, it’s not ranked lmao. What do you want them to do? Only match you with players that have as many games as you’ve played?
That is generally what matchmaking is used for, yeah. Also clear that that is how it is intended to work, seeing as it’s in place to begin with.
I’m a firm believer that playing against better players is the best way to learn, but there’s a limit. You don’t learn by queueing up your first 10 games and getting bodied beyond repair by somebody with hundreds of hours behind the wheel.
Doesn’t bother me personally but I don’t see how it’s difficult to understand how the prospect is off-putting for some.
That explains why after winning my first 8-9 matches they start becoming hella hard. Lol.
Ye, in that instance the MM is actually doing its job. =p
There’s no reason to be so condescending. And like it was pointed out before, that is what matchmaking is for. You’re supposed to be queued with other players on your level. 50 games is a lot more experience than 0. I never said that “oh it’s unfair, I’m a noob and I’m being put into games with rank 1 players.” My complaint was simply that new players with little to no experience should be put against other players with little experience.
Literally this.
Ah bro you should see Ranked in RU bronze being put with platinum or higher i mean talk about learning the hard way. It’s just how the matchmaking is since a lot of things factor in i can imagine Grade 11 can outplay tier 1 at times some learn faster then others when factors like this is a thing i dont think matchmaking will ever be “fixed” so unfortunately your going to have to develop a masochist personality and continue headbutting PvP.
Hahahah gotcha!
Mmr is legitimately broken rn though so it’ll be a lot better for new players once they fix it.
You can actually see the difference, if you win like 10 games without logging out, you’ll notice that you get matched up against tier 1’s or just generally players with experience but if the wins have been reset after relogging it’s pretty much completely random.
Considering there is no ladder system implimented yet, being teamed up against more experienced players sometimes will increase your own skills faster or at the very least teach you what you cant do so you can learn from that. It better to get that now, then when the ladder system starts. Im poopy at this game but its alot of fun.
Everyone here seems to know pvp is broken but did we ever get an official announcement for the problem? And if so let me guess it
“Were working on it, till when? Since when? Haha just stick around and see!”
