To whom it may concern,
Why is Amazon in the Middle East Region (UAE) if it can’t provide a server or open up the EU servers for the Middle East region? Why is there no copyright when they are present in the region?
To be honest, I have read many threads in this forum and noticed that none of them explained that. So for a piece of mind, could someone explain it to me like I am five?
Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you.
because it’s not amazon that decide which region gets the game or where they can put up servers. the game is developed by SmilegateRPG and they are the one who decide where the game can be played.
but if they gave the copyright to Amazon, don’t they get to cover this region too if Amazon asked for it?
no. Smilegate has sold to amazon the right to publish the game in america and in central europe. Amazon has no power over any other region the game might be published in. It’s smilegatesRPG that controls where they want their game to be published and decide wich publisher they are gonna sell the rights to publish the game.
Amazon doesn’t have the rights to all of the game, only the rights to publish the game in north america, south america and central europe.
makes sense. I work with contracts and if Amazon struck a deal, they could provide more regions thus becoming a sole distributor to the game. So I understand the idea I just can’t see why it can’t work like that when both parties would win in this situation. With all that said, I get your point.
My guess would be: because of politics. But it’s just a guess. Unless smilegaterpg sell the right to publish the game in the middle east then there won’t be any middle east servers
