Several points of feedback - repost

Hello there, people and devs that might stumble upon this unnecessarily long post I’m reposting in the correct section (I first posted in the wrong forum, sorry about that). Also, I’ve updated some of the points.

I have now played a few hours on the Beta test (and a few more on Russian servers, a while ago), and even though I plan on playing a lot more in the upcoming days (because the game is very enjoyable), I’m feel like sharing some of the feedback I already have on the game. Hope it will be of use !

  • In the French version, there are LOTS of differences between the dialogues or what the voiceover is telling us, and the subtitles. I don’t know about other languages, but in French it is actually amazing. Like, almost every 2 sentences. Everytime there is a cutscene, there will be those differences. For example, at one point during the prologue, when the lost city is finally unveiled before your eyes, there is one mercenary that says something along the lines of “We’re about to get rich!”. And the subtitles go “It smells like money”… I’m guessing there aren’t 2 translation teams for each language, and that the team that translates the lines that will be acted also translates the lines that end up in the subtitles. So why are there such differences ? That might seem like a small point but it is important as it tarnishes the rigor put in the game by everyone who participated in its development.
  • I have seen some topics talk about it so I’ll just go briefly on that: removing the class prologues and making us start at level 10 directly isn’t that great of an idea. The cutscenes made of panels to describe what happens in each class prologue aren’t bad, but they will never be as good as just letting us see with our own eyes those backstories. Maybe, just like the cutscenes, make it so someone who creates his first character in a class cannot skip the playable class prologue, but someone who already has a character of the class can now skip it. Or, just don’t make us start at level 10? There already is a prologue, make it so that makes us hit the level 10, instead of just popping at level 10 straight away. Anyway, I’m not sure why those were removed in the first place but it feels like taking back some interesting lore that we were willing to explore.
  • The time settings are non existent. I’m currently playing with the greenwich time, which is 1 hour less than my actual timezone. Or, I can use the option to have american time. Either way, we cannot adjust time to our own timezone, and that is surprising, giving that is such a simple setting everyone would expect from any multiplayer online game.
  • The option to change the settings of your mouse from left clic move / right clic attack to the other way around isn’t very clear. I have found it now but feel like it could be more obvious that this particular option is the one we are looking for when wanting to change the way we move around in the game.
  • Maybe it’s only for the Beta version of the game, but not letting us completely personalize the shortcuts is weird and should definitely be changed. Especially when the interact key is G: it feels weird to have this key as interact, in my opinion, and I’d love to be able to change it to something else (just like I was able to remap every one of my skills to the keys I’ve been using for skills on other games).
  • Regarding the character creation, I don’t get why we can’t copy and paste the color ID ? I know it’s not the best character creation ever made, but still… It’s good. It has all the features needed to let us create our very own character. So, just adding this little feature could let us really put the accent on the appearance we want our avatar to have.
  • Still in character creation, I think the hairstyles, tattoos, make-ups and stuff like that shouldn’t be class locked. Even if there are various hairstyles and other stuff to choose from, I feel like giving us more freedom to customize our characters wouldn’t be that bad. Especially when there is a (very good) feature of saving an appearance. Why save an appearance for another character if I’m not even sure I’ll be able to reuse all the assets I chose in the first place ?
  • The HUD customization is too limited in my opinion. We can only change the size of all of it. Which is good, but not nearly enough. What would be needed is a real customization. Possibility to change the size of each element of the HUD, seperately. Change their opacity, maybe their background color? Also, to move them around the screen, to create our own HUD, that fits us and lets us play confortably.
  • The video guides are in korean language. This one is pretty straight forward, there is nothing much to add to it.

Those are what I had to say for now. But please, bear in mind that even with those bad points, the game is still very enjoyable, very fun, very good looking, gorgeously animated, with a very nice soundtrack and sound design, and some very cool features such as the voicechat, the account level system, the possibility to share mounts and pets with other characters of our account…
Nothing I’ve listed up there is enough to make me quit the game. I’ve only started playing it and will very much likely play it for quite a time. I’m only giving some feedback to help improve a game that I already know I will love deeply.

Have a great night (or day, depending when you’re reading this), and thanks for reading my insane rambling.

Could you elaborate on this, as I couldn’t find it and it feel sooo backwards to me. I see the option for left click and right click, but they seem to be locked.

Hey !

Right under the left click and right click options that are blocked, there is a box saying “Right click to attack”. If you check it: right click is attack, and left click is movement. If you uncheck it, then it’s right click for movement and left click for attack

I think removing the two blocked settings of movement and attack and making it into a dropdown menu named “Left click action”, with the options “Attack” or “Movement” would be a bit better, a bit more clear.
