Should've banned VPNs from the start

Why just now when I’ve already invested hundreds of hours plus money. Now the game is unplayable for me because I keep getting “lost ark cannot connect to server exiting the game g0x9.” Using VPNs was the only thing that fixed it for me.

It was fun while it lasted, the last 2-3 months was a blast I enjoyed every moment of it but it’s about time I move on. Hopefully everything works out for the better.

Sorry to see you go. Hopefully they will have some good news in the not too distant future so that you may come back.

Take care.

Yes they should of and I feel bad for people who invested and now can’t play
I hope if and when they find a proper solution to the bots (because this wasn’t it)
That they unban vpn’s

amazon would rather see the game die than admit to their mistake, this vpn ban is here to stay

there are alternatives, you should google/ask around instead of quit

same case here but they had a chance to steal our money with a TOS as a protection from suing them so they had to do it first …

VPN’s where against ToS from the start. See, back before the game officially launched, some players reviewed the ToS and had questions about the legalese in regards to a certain section. The question the community was asking at the time was:

Are VPN’s against the ToS?

So, in comes Roxx, providing the community with the clear yes or no answer so that there could be no confusion:

Despite this, people still opted to take a risk and play using VPN services, or others started playing not knowing this was a thing. However, Roxx cleared up the air, it is written in their own ToS, that everyone agrees to when they want to play.

Hopefully they’ll consider partnering with other services like ExitLag and others like they have with GeForce Now since the more options a potential player has, the more players they get in the long run, but for right now, it is what it is and there is not much we can do except stay vocal and hope we finally get our concerns through to leadership and they start taking these suggestions to heart.

Its not just VPNs that got hit. Look at the support forums, there are many posts there from people who don’t even use VPNs who can no longer connect.

And nothing is being said by Amazon. This didn’t fix the bots. So what was the purpose?

Amazon should show some humility and walk back this decision.

Or at the very least hire someone who isn’t a high school intern to properly implement measures that don’t affect legitimate ISPs.

The issue I have with this, is that where it is against Steams TOS to use a VPN to purposefully change your region for pricing/game access, Steam doesn’t prevent existing customers from accessing their content from anywhere around the world.

I have a NA Steam account because I’m American. I travel a lot for work, often deployed in places for several years at a time. I’ve never had an issue logging into my NA/U.S. Steam account from anywhere. Steam even updates the store based on my account information (possibly CC/Billing Address?) changing the local currency to USD in the actual store.

Why Amazon can’t do the same is beyond me.

Edit: I know exactly why I actually. Laziness.

And the bots still running free all over Luthera / Tortoyk even some in punika… this VPN ban doesn’t do **** still have long queue in NA West Valtan …
It just do more harm than good

I can only speculate and obtain my own conclusions based on information that I know.

Considering Lost Ark is AGS’s first entry into publishing, and given their rather unimpressive history, they’re bound to make mistakes…

A LOT of mistakes.

Leadership saw the popularity of Lost Ark, and them wanting to have something good tied to their name, (rather than people always laughing at all their failures), they quite possibly spent a lot of capital, and time trying to win over SMG with their honeyed words, and well, it worked.

While I personally feel that it would have been a lot better, and healthier in the long run, for the studio to start out by publishing smaller titles first, so that leadership gets a better understanding of the can’s and cannot’s, obtaining real world knowledge of situation’s that arise from publishing and then using that knowledge to further progress into bigger and better titles, the prestige of the SMG studio, and the popularity of the franchise, drove them to make their decision based on, well, greed and profits.

Now, we’re all kind of stuck in the middle suffering for it. Before my one month, forced departure, I said, and will continue to say, that the best thing for Lost Ark’s future in NA/EU is for the contract to expire and SMG hand the publishing rights off to someone else.

Initiate a charge back. They’ll ban you, but it doesn’t matter if they basically already did that anyway.

The VPN change has not ‘banned’ anyone per se, afaik, but it has made connecting to the game itself impossible if you’re using one.

If you disable the VPN, you can still access the game.

They aint lifting the vpn ban cause they wasted a lot of money and their egos would not let them.

Then they will continue wasting money just as bots continue killing off their profits because a lot of bots are making everyone not be able to login. More bots = more server capacity being used up = less profit since bots dont give the company any revenue = less players giving out profits.
VPN Ban = bots not affected = a lot of players became collateral = less profits.

Yeah, they could never accept VPN use. Privacy? In this day and age? Sorry. Against the rules.

I believe that there are still some paid VPNs that still work jfyi
Disclaimer: I don’t recommend it

Too much money to be made in selling our data to advertisers to then spam us all day everyday with their products.

But in this case, the reason as to why AGS put in the policy that they did was more to cover their arse from losing the contract.
