Skins and Censorship

Interesting however this will likely trip EAC will it not?

What the hell???
You can even see the leotard piece and stockings underneath the texture of the pants that has been edited in and the chest has just been painted with dark paint.

Wtf is up with this AGS???
Answers please???
Ingame that set in the store is also different too just what is even happening here.

It’s just awfully done too like I said you can literally see the original skin underneath it’s very obvious that it has been awkwardly painted over.

Edit: Also if that Gunslinger skin was too revealing for the login skin then USE ANOTHER SKIN.
Why the hell did they go in and manually censor it just to have it on the login screen, what exactly is the point of that?
They could just have used another skin but instead they decided to censor one, what exactly are we supposed to read into that?

I can understand censoring some of the skins.

Not gonna call anyone names, but i think its common knowledge what kinds of people would be the primary audience for those “attractive” skins. And I for one definitely do not want to bring complete social destruction upon myself when i mention lost ark to folks. Those skins are just too “vocal” about the game in terms of PR they leave very little room for anything else, they deserve to be tuned.

Except that you literally see the Founder skins right away in the trial area so what is even the point.
This accomplishes absolutely nothing other than to piss people off, if you’re upset about revealing skins you’re going to be upset regardless.

Also people gotta stop with these judgemental attitudes, if you don’t like it then that’s fine but that doesn’t mean that people who like it are bad.
Like what do you mean ‘’ what kinds of people ‘’, okay what ‘’ kinds of people ‘’ get hyped up about the gore in MK11?
It’s just a dumb line to go down and the only reason why you’d say and think that is because of how YOU look at the content.
You’re just being a judgemental person tbh.

And like I said even if I was to agree with you ( which I don’t ), it still makes no sense because it’s just what the game is if they actually wanted to try and hide and get rid of that then they’d have to fundamentally change the entire game.
If you have friends you don’t want to mention Lost Ark to, will you now feel comfortable doing it because a skin has been censored in the login?
You see more revealing skins in the armor preview and right away in the trial area there’s no logic behind what you’re saying at all you’d have to fundamentally ‘’ tune ‘’ the whole game on a much grander scale for it to make any sense.

it’s not about judging lol, it’s about maintaining a moderate enough of standing in terms of PR management to cater to the larger audience that they so evidently are trying to keep.

have you seen some of the KR skins? Lol, they are pretty extreme. If this were an indie game then yeh they wouldnt care, but its not. They have every monetary incentive to not rep their game that way lol. And it’s not even all the skins or totally block everything. The mokoko skin for instance is pretty cool, i’d be hard pressed to find a reason for censoring that one.

As for your point of “fundamentally chang[ing] the entire game,” dude, that’s just straight up copium right there. How is changing a few pixels for character skins of all things game breaking lol

Except puritans are the vocal minority lol

are you assuming that the “large audience” are the ones who love censorship? if that’s what you’re trying to say here then let me tell you that you’re hella wrong. because censorship NEVER last in any game specially games that are made for “Adults” guess why they never last? because they make way less money by censoring them. like good morning we’re in 2022 and people are scared of a video game sexy outfits? wake up… it’s a video game and even in real life people dress even “more extreme” and who judges them for it? no one can dare to judge them for what they want to wear. so keep that crap outside of lost ark please. we don’t need censorship crap in video games.

and no one can justify it either. cause if you’re an adult and video game female character wearing sexy armor offends you. then i would highly suggest you to go to therapy sessions. on why sexy females in a VIDEO FKIN GAME offends your majesty…

No one is afraid.

no one is offended

Not having the starting outfits overly sexualized makes the game more appealing to a wider player base. That’s it. Some people won’t want to play a game where characters start in sexy outfits. It’s really not a big deal.

Pretty sure the censorship related to US laws, and since NA/EU falls under same jurisdiction publisher-wise - what we see is the american paradox:

It’s okay to show kids exploding corpses but a revealing piece of clothing is the antichrist.

Besides, this game is rated R, 18+? Why in the hell does it matter if someone’s kids can’t be allowed to see revealing clothing? If you let your underage kids play this game, whatever “trauma” or problem happens is on the ignorant parents.

top tier reply.

you don’t know that so perhaps you shouldn’t even try to talk about it. wider player base that’s why that player base doesn’t even pay money for anything in the shop and playing for free? wake up and stop living in a dream. and get out of your bubble.

most of the player base came from Russia version so good morning. russia version has the same outfits they had in Korea and they didn’t mind playing there. so again you’re speaking out of your a$$

Yet people hyping this game’s NA/EU release were so BECAUSE of the KR/RU original release. Of course they get annoyed when they are advertised something, but get something else

smh… as i said get out of your bubble. we’re supposed to advance forward not go backwards in life. you’re one of the offended ones and yet you’re so afraid to even admit it. so you try to make up things as in “no one is afraid” “no one is offended” dude you can’t play that game. people hyped this game for WHAT IT WAS originally. no one hyped it to be watered down and censored for the little kids who sneak up download it behind their parents approval.

just stop replying cause you’re not going anywhere with it. wasting my time on some snowflake.

nice edit then deleted your post cause you realized it was ridiculous reply. 10/10 man you just gave me a reason to block you. talk to yourself now…

I deleted because I edited a previous reply by mistake instead of making a new one…

Assumptions, assumptions.

I’m sure everyone was expecting a Korean MMO be puritan, family-friendly to the core. What Amazon is doing is nothing else but typical mega-corporation stuff:

Maximizing profits. However, in Amazon’s case, it always comes with a heavy cost to…nothing much, just destroying the original artistic design while grabbing as much money as possible and then running away, leaving problems to fester, rot, die out - only to come back later with minor positive news to wipe the slate clean.

Or have you not been browsing forums since NA/EU release and see how certain topics died out with no AGS reply?

Western culture has no shortage of sexy clothing. But there are clothes in Lost Ark for which the first association when you see them is not sexy, but prostitution, or worse, bdsm brothel.

On the bright side, western markets buy a lot of visual character upgrades. Amazon just needs to throw volume at the problem.

If the korean style of dressing women in games is prostitution and whatever else you may think - so be it. It is the original design intent people saw when hearing about the game coming for NA/EU.

But then, shitting on the artistic design is what makes more money amongst more puritan audience - the US. I ain’t saying all americans are like that, but AGS first and foremost wants to cater to their own people & customers.

It is entirely normal that EU customers are 2nd class ones in every american-based release. I have personally seen that in MMOs.

only if you see it that way. and to me it seems like the “western audience” sees anything that’s actually Sexy and looks better than them = Prostitute which means you’re literally insulting the koreans as well. why the hell are you even playing the game? it’s a korean game. and you’re hating on their style… yet you’re playing it? sensitive people shouldn’t play adult games. there’s a difference between looking sexy and being a prostitute…

I love people using the words “attractive”, “revealing”, “sexy” when they try to defend their vision instead of using the words “over sexualising” or “hypersexualisation” of a woman’s body and use “censorship” when the company do adjustments to armours.

When a woman chose their clothes, they are totally OK and free to do that. When a male artist creates an over sexualising character or skin, have nothing to do with woman’s freedom.

Imagine you creating something, and then someone else vastly changes it for profits. And then you have people defending the right to ruin your creations.

Mock “us”. Lesson 101, never speak in behalf of everyone.

Other than that - if original developers created things as they are, changing them IS STUPID.

It matters little whether Koreans purely have this game standard of oversexualising for profits, Amazon still changed it because it benefits THEM more, ignoring the developer’s original intentions
